Do athletes deserve the money they make? I agree that professional athletes and entertainers earn large sums of money because they don’t get to see family for a long period of time, train constantly, and risk hurting themselves. Most athletes have to spend a tremendous amount of time away from family. For example, if you are a famous basketball player, you would have to sometimes go on long trips away from your home and with your team. Most basketball players have to make humongous travels across America. This is why they make their exceeding amounts of money. When you are a famous football player, you have to train and train all day, every day, to become the best you can be. For example, when you are learning a new route for a pass, you
They must perform for numerous amounts of years at extreme levels which reminds the audience that being a professional athlete is not easy. The author also notes that for every big contract you hear getting signed, there are those college stars that never make it and the players that make the league minimum. That statement shows the author’s sympathy for the affected athletes.
Although the NFL has more valuable teams then the NBA, it’s a different story when it comes to player. The king of the NBA, LeBron James, makes 64.6 million dollars in total earnings. LeBron James makes 15.7 million dollars more then the highest paid player in the NFL, Ben Roethlisburger, making him the king of both leagues. When comparing the averages of total earnings of the five highest paid players in both leagues, the result is that the NBA average is 13.22 million dollars more then the NFL average. The second highest paid player in the NBA is Kevin Durant who makes 54 million dollars in total earnings, but makes a huge 35 million dollars of his total earnings in endorsements. Even Kobe Bryant who has the highest salary in the league at
Second of all, athletes, in order to stay in their chosen sport, must sustain great grades in college. Lastly, athletes need the high salaries to live in a house, pay bills, and to get a job. All pro athletes were given a talent that more ordinary citizens should realize and appreciate. Therefore, I think that all pro athletes should keep their high salaries, because they are pursuing their dreams. Athletes deserve high salaries because they train day and night to become more successful in their sport.
There seems to have been a rise in scandals in collegiate athletics over the past few years. Many athletes get a notice from the NCAA that they have been suspended from their sports’ season or several games of the season. This may shock some people to know that these athletes are being suspended for getting free food, rides, money for clothing, etc. There have been several court cases involving student-athlete scandals and many are wondering how to get to the bottom of the issue. Being an athlete, I want to learn more about this issue so that I can come to understand both
It is probably believed that sport adepts deserve to be more well-paid than other experts. The high salary advocates these celebrities going through arduous trainings. The hard exercises and fervent games lead to high-pressure competition and the potential risk of trauma, the implication has long term impacts compared to their relatively short
Money is flooding into these athletic departments and the athletes benefit in many ways, but do athletes deserve to be paid for what? Most people think they shouldn’t be paid because where would they get the money from. Athletes should be paid for what they do because it could keep them in school.
Professional athletes should not earn as much as they currently do because their contributions the global community are not as critical to societal function as other jobs like teachers and doctors. For example according to the text “... each two-point basket that Kobe Bryant scores earns him the equivalent to the average classroom teacher's yearly salary” (Bhagat).Teachers groom the youth of the future while some professional athletes just do different movements with a ball. Some jobs require a lot more dedication and responsibility if Kobe Bryant did not make a shot or had too many interferences no one would be in danger or be worse off. If President Obama made a bad decision it could put millions or even billions of people in a hard situation.
Do you think that entertainment is more important than health and safety? Based on the salaries of professional athletes, it is apparent that our country believes so. In the past year, the players on the Cleveland Cavaliers made an astounding total of $131.8 million. That is more than 10 times the amount of money that a neurosurgeon will make in 10 years. Although athletes show incredible talent and dedication, one can see that they are being paid too much after comparing their salaries to the salaries of others who show these same traits.
I agree with professional athletes making a high salary. High salaries are great because, professional athletes could put a lot of money towards their retirement plan. Professional athletes could live in a great neighborhood, have a great car, and live a long and healthy life. If professional athletes make high salaries, after they are done with sports, then they can get a great job, and have a great career.
Division one men’s basketball players should get paid for competing in games because most of their time is spent at practice or at a game competing for their school, giving time to support themselves or their families. With hundreds of millions of dollars being distributed, some should be given to the athletes who produce that revenue. I’m not saying these athletes should be give hundreds of thousands of dollars, but just enough to support themselves.
Who do you think earns more money, a soldier going out into war fighting for this country’s freedom or a professional soccer player? If you thought it was the soldier, well you’re wrong. Many professional athletes and entertainers earn large sums of money, even more than doctors or soldiers and things like that. To me, I honestly don’t think that is right because these professional athletes and entertainers don’t risk their life or help others in any way, there are more important jobs out there, and most of these people honestly don’t really care about the money at all.
Do you really think that athletes deserve to make more money than the nurses of this country!? Did you know that athlete’s salaries are up to $56 million a year? Yet Barack Obama-the president of the U.S- only makes $400,000! Do you realize what this means? It says something terrible about our society. We prefer entertainment over safety. Many athletes are paid millions of dollars. Some people think these athletes don’t deserve their money, but others do. This has been a problem that has been on and off. Never really solved. Did athletes deserve their money? Yes or no? Most likely it will never be cleared!
“You know raising a family in the life of a professional athlete can be very difficult -Robin Yount. Professional athletes are away from their family a lot and they deserve to be paid what they earn.
Can you imagine playing one game of football and earning more money than you have in your whole life!? Everyone has problems in their lives, but for some reason my opinion is if you have money you don't gotta worry as much like paying bills and struggling in your daily life. I hate that the world revolves around money, some people can work all their lives and still wouldn't make as much as professional athletes would make. It is not right for Professional athletes to make the amount of money as they do.
Ask yourself, where would our world be without teachers? Not so good. Now think, where would we be without professional athletes? Not a lot would change. So why is it that professional athletes make about 100 times more money than what teachers teachers do? In this day, educators are making less than one one hundredth of what professional athletes make in a year, but I think this needs to stop. Teachers should be payed more than professional athletes, because teachers are necessary for today's society, teachers are the ones who create doctors, lawyers and other people important to our society, and today professional athletes make over 2 million more dollars than teachers do.
