Abstract getting out of domestic violence is a hard thing to do for the victims. There are many things that hold them in the relationship. People seem to think that getting out of an abusive relationship is something that is very easy they seem to think that the person being abused does not want to get out, that they enjoy being abused.

There are three type of abuse that the victim can go through. There is also a cycle that the domestic violence follows. When there is a relationship that has abuse involved the victim will want out but seems to have a difficult time in doing so. What is domestic violence? It is the behavior that one partner of a relationship uses toward the other so that they can control them. Domestic violence is also defined as any felony, simple battery, simple assault, assault, stalking, criminal damage to property, unlawful restraint and criminal trespass between past and present spouses, persons who are parents of the same child, parents and children, stepparents and stepchildren, foster parents and foster children and persons living or formerly living in the same household.

This problem has been a taboo for centuries and in the mid nineties it has chosen to let itself be known, the problem that I am talking about is domestic violence, it has ruined families, and demoralized the victims for years and now because of the trial of the century's we finally are allowed to discuss it in detail, without fear of reprisal, now we get to familiarize ourselves with it and eventually after we get to know all about it we can, through treatment, get rid of it. In this paper, I will discuss problems with the so called epidemic of domestic violence. This entire paper will be about domestic violence, and because of that I feel it is important to note that in most families men and women do not engage in physically abusive
