Whenever I thought about going to high school, I always thought about the mean high school kids from movies. So imagine my surprise when I found a girl that I could trust completely. This girl is my best friend and her name is Jasmine. Some people may describe her as mean and a little loud, but I would say she’s just an outspoken spirt. Jasmine always says what’s on her mind, even if no one wants to hear it. Jasmine is always pretty free spirted and adventurous. She’s so adventurous that she always want to go explore the world and sometimes doesn’t care about the risk. Jasmine is also a very brave person in my opinion, considering she’s basically been through hell and back. So, one thing I can say I really admire about her is her strength. She went through something that was extremely tough, but still came out on top of the world. Jasmine is the type of person who says her favorite quote every day, which was “That which does not kill us, makes us stronger.” Anytime she wanted to go out and have fun, I didn’t, I was always afraid something might go wrong. But she did not care at all, I would tell her “That will happen or this could happen”. She would then would tell me “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger”, then she’s would say “If you don’t go out and have fun, you’re going to have a house full of cats in my future. She always amazed me with, some of the things she could just come up with. Jasmine was about 5’5, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She has a bold
High school in real life is full of surprises, but according to David Denby in his article "High School Confidential," High School in the movies is very predictable. The typical Hollywood "High School Scene" opens with the jock and the cheerleader characters. Blonde and buff, the Jock and the Cheerleader are superficial and proud to proclaim it. They are popular and perky, and always too good to be true. The cheerleader is usually the enemy of the hero or heroine. She is generally rich, blonde, and queen bee of the social circle, with no sense of selflessness. The jock is usually the bully, muscular, good looking and not very smart.(Denby 343) In an essence, the male counterpart of the cheerleader. The Jock and the Cheerleader are almost
She is not afraid to stand up for herself and be the person she wants to be. Of course, we all will have moments that make your heart beat a little faster and you think more. You realize that you are so much more than what you thought you were
like any other teenager, she faces problems with teen angst. In addition, the one thing
She said she can be a bit sassy sometimes and at other times a bit awkward, but everyone at Palo Verde High School knows her to be the smartest thing in the classroom.
Music with some stress occasionally and she likes to talk to people that are trustworthy to her. She deals with conflict by simply walking away. It complements the power she know she has over herself. Her close friends would describe her as thoughtful, caring, and dramatic. She listens to stories from strangers just to hear them out and assure they’re heard and cared for. She's soft in soft moments from movie scenes to actual real-life touching situations asserting her emotion in all ways. She’s also dramatic. When she’s dramatic it’s “over the top dramatic,” especially when the problems are simple. She’d choose to have mind reading ability out of any superpower. She would like to further understand the human mind. She also believes in spirits and demons and she’s interested in ghost topics. But she doesn’t believe in aliens or any other extra terrestrial organisms. She’s not that big of a science geek. Science is her least favorite class subject. Also we touched on world topics. If she could be anyone else in time she’d go back in time and be Dr. Martin Luther King. She’d be Dr. King to be one of the first black to step ahead to vocalize what was going on in a sad America. She wouldn’t change a bit of his role, she’d be him, serving the country no different that the real MLK did. To her, success is “accomplishing any desirable goals.” So she can see in her eyes that everyone is successful no matter what
One day during algebra we were learning a new and difficult way to solve an algebra problem. I didn’t know how to do the homework, so I used the internet to teach myself, the website went through step-by-step and taught me and I was able to finish and get all the right answers on my homework. Technology can be a huge positive to someone's learning experience. Every student should be allowed to have a device in the classroom because it allows faster information, different teaching techniques, and teaches you how to find the right information out of many answers .
Who knew High School would be over in a blink of an eye? Four short years and a whole chapter of your life is over. The goal everyone was striving to achieve was completed, yet an even bigger thing was approaching “Life”. All 365 of us would venture out into the world and start new journeys hundreds of miles apart.
Columbine, Sandy Hook, and the UT Tower shooting are just a few examples of the terror parents, teachers, and students face today. More and more massacres and threats are affecting our schools on a daily basis. No one should fear to receive an education and certainly no parent should fear their child entering the doors of an elementary school. What can we do to prevent these tragedies from happening again? How can we strip the worry from the men, women and children involved in our educational systems at work today? The only options to putting an end to the untimely and unfair deaths of our teachers and students is tighter security, psych evaluations, and armed personnel. This means of security should not only be present in high schools or Jr. Highs, but should be present in all of our educational buildings, including colleges, elementary schools and child care centers. All of the places listed should be aware and willing to respond with any force necessary to protect their lives and the lives of others. More security cameras, attending at least one anti-bullying program per school year, teachers need training to psychologically assess a troubled student, and armed teachers should all play a role in defending and keeping our schools safe. This is not taking our freedom but protecting our right to live and learn.
Prior to entering middle school Paige was very confident about herself see believed in herself,
“Jasmine collapsed at college, she went home to bed and then later she came out in blotches, and the rest is sad news.”
At Sulphur High School, many students trample through the halls day after day, but one student catches my attention. In between classes, I pass her every day. She goes by the name Allie Hill. From what I can tell, she seems like a quiet, smart, and independent girl.
She puts on this façade that protects her, but she doesn’t always want to be this ‘perfect’ human that everyone makes her out to me. She holds a devastating family secret that is haunting her. All
At Sulphur High School, copious students trample through the halls day after day, but one student captures my attention. In between classes, I pass her every day. People address her as Allie, but her ID reads Allison Hill. From watching her for a while, I perceive Allie as a quiet, smart, and independent girl.
I am a high school girl, currently in 10th grade. Bravery is the characteristic I can relate to the most. Starting high school, in 9th grade I felt out of place. I wasn't sure where I belonged such as what clubs I should join or what activities really interested me. I had to be brave and socialize with people I didn't even know, to figure out when and where the clubs gathered. Bravery was necessary for me to step out of my comfort zone and join extra curricular activities that I would either enjoy or learn from. My ninth grade year of high school I tried to be very involved knowing it will only benefit me in the long run. Taking a chance, by getting involved has only helped me grow as a person because I've learned what really interests me and
Jessica was a truly amazing friend. She was a true friend. I could always depend on her being there for me with the right words of advice. Even if I did not want to hear what she was saying. She had been exactly where I was and she knew how perilous the journey of adolescence could be. She informed and guided me in my choices. Yet she never forced anything on me. My
