Donald Trump I have read several articles pertaining to Donald Trump’s stance on immigration. To Trump, he believes that we need to put Americans first in all ways (jobs, government benefits, etc.…) and that we should put immigrants as second. In this way, President Trump is not abusing his powers as president on the immigration issue. Trump does not say that he does not want immigrants coming into the United States, he says that he wants to stop illegal immigrants from taking rights and benefits away from Americans. From the Muslim ban to the wall, Trump has had many ideas on how to stop illegal immigration to better the United States. Americans work very hard for the benefits we receive; therefore, it should only go to Americans. Trump has stated that he wants to become stricter on illegal immigrants in many ways. Trump has stated that he wants to regulate the immigration prevention in order to lower the number of illegal immigrants that come into the United Stated. In Eastern Washington University EWU Digital Commons article, I found a quote that states a few things that Trump wants to change to fix the immigration problem. “Trump wants to enhance penalties for overstaying a visa and end welfare abuse, and to instill a requirement to hire American workers first.” This quote is telling about Trumps proposition that Americans should come first. Trump wants to enhance the penalty for overstaying a visa because visas are widely used to come to America to work. If you
Donald Trump has voiced his strong opposition to Mexicans being in the United States; he even went as far as proposing the idea of building a wall separating Mexico from the US. According to Forbes’ article written by Dolia Estevez, “he wants to deport 11.3 million undocumented workers, 6 million of which are Mexicans, and strip babies born to undocumented immigrants of their birthright citizenship.”
There are differing opinions from all, but most feel that immigration is a key issue that needs to be addressed immediately. Trump has been increasingly brash with his position on immigration reform. Going as far as to call children born to illegal aliens “anchor babies”. His immigration policy also calls for three core principles: a nation without borders is not a nation, a nation without laws is not a nation, and a nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation. (MLA) Along with these core principles Trump believes that Mexico should pay for the wall that he will build between the two countries, stating that “the annual cost of free tax credits alone paid to illegal immigrants quadrupled to $4.2 billion in 2011.” He also wants to triple the number of ICE officers and have better cooperation between local, state, and federal law enforcement. There are other policies he wishes to implement such as: defunding sanctuary cities, deporting all criminal immigrants, and increasing penalties for persons who overstay their visa. Last but not least, Trump wishes to ignore the 14th Amendment and end birthright citizenship for children who are born to illegal aliens. He has affectively ruined any support that he may have had from the latino
One of Donald Trump biggest suggestions that half of the united states does not agree with is his immigration laws. Trump plans on putting up borders around Mexico. Meaning he is using an
While a constant flow of people coming to America seems like a great idea to most, President-elect Trump thinks the U.S need to limit the people it let in. During his campaign he said he would repeal DACA and kick out all illegal immigrants. His thought process behind this is that it will free up jobs for Americans. Trump is right that it will free up jobs as roughly “8 million illegal immigrants currently have jobs”, but the issue is that Americans won’t have the proper training to take all of these jobs (Krogstad). This will lead to companies not producing what they should and being forced to lay of people. So overall by kicking out all immigrants Trump will be costing many Americans jobs and could lead to another depression. Another thing that Trump has said he will do is build a wall around the U.S and Mexico. This wall will cost millions maybe even billions of dollars, yet Trump has not elaborated on how it will be paid for. He has said he will get Mexico to pay for it and that he has a plan to do it, but nobody knows
President Barrack Obama did not abuse his executive powers in protecting undocumented immigrants. President Obama wanted illegal children to be protected, yet he stated that his decision would only provide temporary protection. He knew that he would have to reform immigration, and DACA would not be a pathway to receive citizenship. However, Obama knew his policy could be rejected after a new president would take office. Shortly After, the 45th President was not welcomed with the usual open arms of the American people, due to his generalizations. In 2016, during his presidential campaign, Trump called Mexicans “Rapist” and “Criminals.” It also seemed he had experienced tensions with other minorities such as Arabs. Even though the majority of undocumented immigrants has risen from Asia, Trump’s decision on DACA singles out a racial group for discrimination, particularly Mexicans.
Donald Trump has a new plan for the immigration executive order. The original order was not as successful as it caused a lot of confusion. However, his new order will achieve some of the same goals.
Bernie Sanders, who is a Vermont senator and democratic presidential candidate, recently criticized Donald Trump. Donald Trump is a republican presidential candidate. Sanders says that he disagrees with Trump's views on immigration. He also stated that Trump is an embarrassment to our country.
President Trump's goal is to rid the entire nation of undocumented immigrants(Calabresi et al, 2016). Trump plans to send immigrants back to Mexico to wait out the immigration process(Kulish et al, 2017). However, Mexico did not approve of this plan. Trump is trying to pawn a U.S. problem on another country, and it is causing tensions to rise. Trump also plans to use expedited removal of illegal Mexican immigrants. This means he plans to deport people without a judge as extensively as the law will allow it in order to prevent back log of immigrant cases(Kulish et al, 2017). By preventing illegal Mexican immigrants from obtaining the necessary wages in order for their families to be financially stable, the Mexican economy will only plummet more. These people will continue to live in poverty, and the incentive will be even higher to illegally immigrate to the U.S.. It also creates the problem for the U.S. with a lack of a blue collar workforce population for the service economy and agriculture. He also plans on expanding the program 287(g) which, from 2013-2016, led to over 175,000 deportations(Kullish et al, 2017). The program was able to deport so many people because it used racial profiling. The U.S. has come so far in civil rights and liberties just to stigmatize Mexican Americans as illegal immigrants. The only beneficial thing Trump has done in his immigration policy is leave DACA alone.
Donald Trump’s Immigration Reform plan claims to 'Make America Great Again’. Trump wants to revive the nation with three core principles: a nation without a border is not a nation, a nation without laws is not a nation, and a nation that serves its own citizens is not a nation. With goals to put a wall across the southern border, enforce government laws, and improve jobs, wages and security for all Americans, Donald Trump is rallying supporters. However, with statements from Trump those view as racist and childish, many have concerns with his execution. People can’t help but to wonder if his plans or more complicated than he leads on, ineffective, or harmful to the economy. Is Trump’s plan unrealistic or does it live up to it’s headline-grabbing
Donald Trump wants Mexico to pay for a wall at the border which will reduce crime and lower taxes. He wants an end to birthright citizenship and the mandatory detention of undocumented immigrants. He wants American workers to be put first.
He wants to put up a wall in order to secure our nation. Article I; Section 8; Clause 4 of the Constitution reads, “The Congress has the power to establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization.” Naturalization is the process by which an immigrant becomes a U.S. citizen. If Trump puts up a wall, people have no way of becoming a legal immigrant which is saying that they are not worthy of that even though other people have been in the past. This situation goes against the principal of government stated in the Declaration of Independence saying “that all men are created equal”. Plus, if Trump did become president, in order to even make this happen he would have to follow the principle of popular sovereignty which is implied by the first three words of the Constitution saying “We, the people” in terms of popular sovereignty meaning the government's right to rule comes from the people. As focused in on, Donald Trump's view on immigration is
Undocumented families and individuals are a key to America’s working economy. President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential election was well known for his thoughts about illegal immigration where he believes those who are not in America legally, should go back to where they came from. Illegal immigration has been happening for over generations where undocumented immigrants want a better life than they had in their previous country. Without illegal immigrants, our nation wouldn't be where it is without them, therefore, it is essential that they should not be deported back to their country.
In order for the President to keep such immigrants outside of the U.S., he is propositioning a border wall in which México’s government will have to pay. When Mexico found out about this, not only did they state that they would pay for no such thing, former President Fox made multiple videos stating that they would not pay for anything. Afterwards, Trump took this matter to Congress and is currently trying to get the U.S. government to pay for it. Building a wall with the best technology will not only be expensive, but it will also keep out intelligent people that can positively impact the world. One of President Trump’s goals as the new president is to build a wall near the southern
Trump’s executive order has cause many controversial opinions about allowing immigrants into the US or not. For him and some of his supporters, immigrants have a negative influence for the good will of the US. I think that limiting the number of immigrant allowed into the country, whether they are illegal or not, is a very big mistake. In my opinion, the three major reasons why he should allow immigrants in the country is because if they limit immigrant they are will experience a lack in US small workers, conflict with many other countries, and a decreasing on the economy.
Trump has not said much about his immigration plan. We only know that something is going to happen to the eleven million undocumented immigrants. Not to long ago Donald Trump first said his immigration plan but he has not said anything other that he is deporting eleven million people. This is all taking place in the United States and more information on his plan should come soon. This event is happening because Donald Trump believes that immigrants cause all the bad things in the United States.
