Should presidential candidates be redundantly different from each other? As seen in the past, presidential candidates have different resolution plans for issues regarding the nation in every presidential campaign held every four years. Despite the differences candidate’s may reflect, every candidate has to meet the same requirements, they must be a natural born citizen of the United States, a resident for 14 years, and be at least 35 years of age or older. Throughout the course of time, the United States, has had 45 different presidents elected into office, all of which have been men. The United States has never had a woman as president, but this may change after the presidential election of 2016 where the first woman in history is running …show more content…
In a book he wrote in 2002, he states that the process legal immigrants must endure should not be “an easy one,” while conveying the need for a strict immigration system to be in place (Goggin). Throughout his presidential campaign he has promoted his plans on building a wall that will help prevent illegal immigration into the country and other astounding strategies. One of the strategies he has proposed is mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, but has changed this intent through the campaign. However, Trump has explicitly stated his intentions to create a ban against incoming muslim immigrants and a call for “extreme vetting” for refugees seeking asylum in the country …show more content…
Hillary Clinton supports increased gun-control measures, while Donald Trump denies the need for such increased measures. In Clinton’s campaign she says further background checks should be performed on individuals when they intend to purchase firearms. Clinton plans on closing in on the problem of individuals with problematic history purchasing firearms “under the radar,” such as in gun shows or online. In contrast to Clinton, Donald Trump has expressed that expanding background checks is not a part of his main concerns. He agrees with improving the background check process, but believes every law abiding person should be able to carry the firearm of their choice (Goggin). In agreement with his ideology, Trump is a firm believer in the second amendment and stated it is a form of protection “the country needs”
Trump wants to enforce our immigration laws-to build a wall and end sanctuaires cities, which he calls crap and says they need to be stopped. Stop and end all of it, if they want to come to the U.S, they need to come legally. Welcome those who embrace our way of life, but keep out immigrants and refugees who don’t through rigorous vetting. Trump thinks they are bringing drugs, crime, rapists and problems for us.
The article “Donald Trump’s Sales Pitch”, written by James Surowiecki relates to many themes in history, one such theme being the use of propaganda. Used by Donald Trump and countless other historical figures, Trump specifically uses it to his own benefit by presenting himself to the media as “someone who can’t be bought,” a powerful, wealthy, and motivated leader who could bring America to new heights, which is then passed down from the media to the public. Leaders in history can’t present themselves in any way they choose, which can easily deceive many. While Trump appears as he chooses, we are only capable of seeing what he wants us to see. Through this with any leader, people may elect somebody only to have that candidate turn out to be
Next, part of the reason gun control was so prominent in the 2016 presidential election and campaign. It seems that (former) President Barack Obama (in office 2008-2016) has suddenly shown his true colors as a gun control-supporting Democrat. Back in 2008, when he was campaigning for his first term in office as president, he blew off gun control, saying that his opinions on gun control were not “an excuse not to vote for me [Obama],” and he did not put much emphasis on them; the only notable thing that was said on the matter was a call for “common sense reforms” (1). These reforms are believed to mainly push background checks, as it is considered “common sense” to ensure that one’s criminal record and mental health are in order before he/she
Mrs. Clinton has clearly stated in her campaign that she is not in favor of making the Second Amendment legal in all 50 states by saying, “You shouldn’t be able to just go buy a gun with no questions asked. You shouldn’t be able to exploit loopholes and evade criminal background checks by buying online or at a gun show. And yes, if you’re too dangerous to get on a plane, you are too dangerous to buy a gun in America,”(1.“Hillary Clinton 2016”). With this quote, we clearly see that Hillary Clinton believes that buying a gun without question is completely unreasonable, which leads to her wanting background checks on all purchases of guns in the United States. I agree and believe this statement is highly important to Mrs. Clinton’s campaign because she is summarizing that if in any case resulting purchases of guns, there needs to be more concern on why and how these guns will be enforced. Also, Hillary Clinton is providing a lawful and more logical approach on protecting citizen’s safety by gaining checks and seeing who is rightfully fit to own a gun and who is not. Therefore allowing these background checks, Hillary Clinton states that it can prevent and not allow abusers of violence and the mentally ill to handle such weapons that could harm themselves and the lives of innocent victims. Another major component to the Hillary Clinton gun control
Among the presidential candidates for the year 2016, Republican representative Donald Trump seems to have the most ridiculous and controversial campaign ideas. One of his more known campaign ideas has to do with banning Muslims from the United States. He generalized that all Muslims currently, or plan to act as, terrorists who will launch attacks on US soil. Building a wall on the border between US and Mexico is another well known idea of his, especially because he wants Mexico has to pay the cost for the wall’s construction. Even though politicians may paint immigration in a negative light, the United States relies on immigrants to help its economy, so it should not opt to throw them out of the country.
Donald trump's plan on immigration is to deport illegal immigrants. He also wants to build a wall across the southern border of the united states. He believes that mexico should pay for the wall he builds across the border. He thinks this because he believes that mexico has been taking advantage of america by using immigration to export the crime in the country. They Posed books about how to illegally immigrate to the U.S.A.
This political cartoon about Trump uses many rhetorical devices to relay a message to anyone who would so care to look at this particular ad about him having allegedly stolen Putin’s shirt. I believe that the author of this political cartoon was trying to persuade to believe Trump is a bad candidate for the presidency by showing us he has ties with the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Do to this persuasion; the effectiveness of this passage is greatly achieved using logos and pathos because it explains how terrible it is to let the leader of the free world have a great relationship with the country that cannot stand us, Russia.
Donald Trump is trying to make a proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States. There has been a poll where 68% of the 2016 Republican front-runner’s supporters would ditch the GOP and would follow him for presidency. Many of the Republican nominee thinks Donald Trump’s proposal is a bad idea. The REpublican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus says, “Trump’s proposal could hurt the party, he said: “That’s as far as I’m going to go.” Many people already disagree with him. Even Jeb Bush says he is not going to be a nominee. However, Donald Trump tweeted, “Wow, what a day. So many foolish people that refuse to acknowledge the
A presidential candidate is chosen by assessing their chances, entering the race, competing in primaries and caucuses, being voted for by delegates in the national nominating convention, and then moving on to the general election. (Hershey, 2015, p. 197) Serious presidential candidates begin to take polls, raise money, identify active supporters in the states with early contests, and compete for the services of respected consultants several years before the election takes place. This process of early fund-raising and competing for media attention and public support has become so important that it’s called the invisible primary or the “money primary”. (Hershey, 2015, p. 196) Candidates who fall behind or lag in funding and endorsements are likely to be weeded-out of the race before most Americans have the chance to form an opinion about them.
Trump continues to embolden rather than chastise his base by demonizing immigrants and refugees. His exaggeration of these numbers and persistence in using them even after they have been proven false is a tactic to mobilize support for strict immigration by instilling fear in Americans and saying that they are bad people and that they are the enemy. His election led to cheers of build the wall at his ____ and reports of immigrants and Americans of foreign descent being told to “go home” soared.
Trump is one that is completely against illegal immigration. Trumps biggest oppositions against illegal immigrants, is that he is determined to send them back were they came from even if it means separating them from their families. The Republican nominee has called for a crackdown on illegal immigrants, saying they “compete directly against vulnerable American workers” (Trump). He promises to cut back legal immigration with new controls he says would “boost wages and ensure open jobs are offered to American workers first.” Trumps actions seem to be more of class rather than what’s right for our country. In one of his statements he states that he will ensure jobs for Americans which goes against numerous researches done that those immigrants don’t affect our jobs, we would just rather not do the jobs immigrants have. Instead of attacking the immigrants with records and a threat to our country, Trump would rather take the easy way out and just deport them
Donald Trump’s Immigration policy is his worst idea since he decided to run for president. Trump thinks every illegal immigrant is either a rapists or a murderer. He even wants to change the Constitution. Donald Trump’s immigration policy includes building a wall spanning the length of the southern border, tightly enforce and changing laws regarding immigration, and deporting all illegal aliens.
Trump has planned to take control of America's illegal immigration and to protect America from taking in enemy migrants from other countries by having 2 proposals when he became elected president. And those proposals are the Deportation policy and the Travel ban.
Donald Trump’s views on illegal immigration were very different from Hillary Clinton’s to say the least. Trump wants to detain and deport immigrants immediately who are caught crossing the border illegally. Along with the detaining and deporting he wants to inforce, he also wants to end birthright citizenship which means if a child of an illegal immigrant is born in the states he or she will not be granted a United States citizenship. Trump wants to defund sanctuary cities where police officers protect illegal immigrants by not contacting the immigration officials about the undocumented immigrants they come in contact with. He has the determination to build a wall on the Mexico-U.S. border to keep immigrants from crossing into the United States. According to www.businessinsider.com, Mexico will pay for the wall which would cost between five billion and ten billion dollars. Even with the possible building of the wall to keep immigrants out of the states, Trump wants to triple the amount of the Immigration and Enforcement officers from five thousand to fifteen thousand. He also wants these specific officers to collaborate with local police officers on gang raids that target the undocumented individuals who could possibly be involved with gangs. Looking back at his previous campaign proposals toward immigration, it has easily been noticed that Trump has gone “soft” when talking about deportation of the illegal immigrants. When it comes to muslim immigrants, Trump wants to issue a complete shutdown so they cannot enter. According to www.businessinsider.com there is reasoning behind Trump calling the shutdown of muslim immigrants, “Follwoing the San Bernardino shootings, shifted to a temporary ban applied to immigrants with “a proven history of terroris,” then linked Syrian refugees to
I am writing a potential victory speech for Donald Trump’s presidential race. I’m interested in this area of topic because of how Donald Trump manages to gain thousands of supporters, even with his flawed and both morally and ethically wrong views. The is created from the combination of all the previous speeches that Donald Trump delivered ( the tone, the content, and structure of the speech). It is quite easy to predict what he will say and he does not follow any formal speech structures. For example, he will insult an individual or a group and its beliefs, and jump from place to place. This speech also explores the impact of political incorrectness by Donald Trump, his use of ‘fifth-grade vocabulary’ that contains many racist and sexist comments.
