The Dream Center was started in Birmingham in 2008 by the Church of the Highlands. The mission is “to reach people with the love of Christ by meeting both physical and spiritual needs.” The ministry serves children, teenagers and adults. They bought two buildings in Woodlawn, and remodeled them. They partner with neighborhood organizations throughout the city of Birmingham. The volunteer staff of the Dream Center is working with ten schools in the city. They work with children as young as four years old, and also provide showers, snacks and prayer for needy adults in their Dream Center Café. They can serve more than 30,000 patients annually through the Christ Health Center also.

It has intense chase scenes, gun fire, explosions, and fight scenes all within the dream state. The expectation for the movie based on the trailer would be constant action. It seems that the main character is away from his family and is trying to get home, but the only way he can is to do one last job. In the trailer the statement “your mind is the scene of the crime” is shown, this indicates that most of the content will be in the dreams of the subject.

Throughout my life, I have experienced a miscellany of dreams. The abstract ideas that we conceptualize in our dreams have peaked my interest ever since my youth. A majority of these dreams have enlightened my perspective on life. For instance, I have learned to live my life in appreciation due to the hardships that I have faced in my dreams such as death.

The idea of movies or parts of movies being a dream is not new. A lot of the time, directors and writers use this in order to explain surreal fantasies or irrational ideas and thoughts. Hence, audiences have asserted this as taboo; a cop-out to make excitement or abstract within a film that is less so. The eye-roll and shake of the head of the audience as a character waking up to the realization of hypnogogic events is all too familiar. Using it as a resolution is even worse as the audience is invested in the storyline, only to find out it was all a sham from the start and none of it was actual reality.

Looking at the similarities between film and dreams is an interesting avenue to examine the question, but does not give a full enough evidence to show that dreams are indeed fictions, nor does it answer the question if a dream is even like a film, all it shows is that they have similarities. However, it is possible to think of a dream as a film, if you imagine a device that can record your dreams and then project it onto a screen and watch the dream on the screen then the dream would act as if it were a film, having the same similarities as mentioned above.
