ROAR! , went the car as they started it. Many people have different opinions on when teens should be able to start driving. Some people say that they should raise it to 18 years old but some disagree and say that they should keep it at 16 years old. They should keep the driving age at 16 years old because of freedom , technology , and experience.
The first reason that they should not raise the driving age is because of freedom. Teenagers are always wanting to go places and their parents don’t want to take them anymore. In passage one it says “ Turning 16 and getting a driver's licence is a rite of passage that most teens have worked hard to earn”. This is saying that all their life teens have been working hard to get there licence and
There are about 2,000,000 sixteen year old drivers in United States, meaning that almost 2,000,000 million people depend on the current driving age for many things. Having a license at age 16 gives that person opportunities they wouldn’t be able to have without the freedom a car gives, such as getting a job that could help their family, driving themselves to school or sports practice if their parents can’t or being able to see their friends when they want. Having your license at 16 also gives teens a taste of independence and responsibility. The driving age has to stay at sixteen because teens and families depend on it for many things and it introduces a sense of responsibility for the teen.
I don’t think that they should raise the driving age to eighteen. I don’t think they should because it’s not fair. Just like the passage said it’s not going to stop the crashes. I think people should go through the Graduated Licensing Program. It’s a more advanced program and it allows people to be more prepared for driving. It teaches them the consequences and how dangerous it is.
The driving age should stay at 16 because it gives teens freedom. It gives teens freedom because if they don't want to be around there parents they can just leave and go hang out with there friends. If the
The reasons advocates of a higher driving age give for its existence is that 16-year-olds aren’t ready for driving yet. The writer, Rep. John D’ Amico of the Illinois state legislature, gives of the example of an accident where two teens died in an accident. What he does not give is more examples to prove that this wasn’t an isolated incident. Another reason that advocates provide for the higher driving age is that government
I feel that when you are 16 you should be able to drive. When you are 16, it is almost everyone's dream to drive. We don’t need any irresponsible accidents, but 16 is a mature age. If you take the right class; study and learn, then it you should be just fine. When you are a 16, you want to be more independent. Independence comes with responsibility. I’m sure your parents don’t want to drive you around everywhere.
I understand that individuals want the driving age to be raised. Sixteen-year-olds can be very irresponsible and immature. There are also the safety concerns that can happen, for example, car crashes. However, I believe that the age requirement to drive should stay the same. Teens get the freedom they have been wanting. Teens are able to get jobs to help save up for college. Teens can also learn the responsibilities that come with driving or owning a vehicle. Therefore, what I am trying to say is sixteen-year-olds are responsible enough to
"Just because of your birthdate, are you dangerous?" (Should Driving Be Raised to 18? by John D'Amico and Alex Koroknay-Palicz). Lawmakers and state legislators are considering raising the age for legal drivers from sixteen to eighteen. But doing so will bring more harm than good. First, cars are essential for transportation, and teenagers today desperately need that transportation.
Having the ability to drive at such a young age also builds character and also helps teach them responsibility. The driving age should not be raised above 16 because no matter when people learn how to drive, the first year is always the hardest and most dangerous. If the driving age was raised to 18 or above, teenagers would not be able to work and support themselves or their family, depending on their situation. Teenagers are starting and applying for their first jobs which means that they are going to have to drive themselves since their parents have their own jobs, and they will not be able to stop working just to drive their child to work. Most, if not all high school graduates would be negatively affected by the driving age being raised to 18, as some graduate at 17, and many others at 18.
What age do you think kids should start driving? The current age as of right now to have a driver’s permit is age 16. One can even get a temporary licence at the age of 15. The driving age should not be lowered to the age of 13 because they could kill people in cars if they aren't careful. They should be at least 18 at the youngest. The way they could kill people is if they aren't paying attention or if their friends are on the bus they will show off and possible kill someone or multiple people
After reading both passages, I say the GDL program (graduated driver’s licenses), will be the most efficient and successful way to decrease teen car accidents. Since, raising the age to 18 will solve nothing. No matter what age, there will always be accidents on the road. In the passage, it said that teens are not ready to be behind the wheel. I think no one is! Some people are 18, and they aren’t ready to be behind the wheel too. In the passage, there were people who opposed raising the age. They said that raising the driving age will just create inexperienced, accident-prone drivers at 18 instead of 16, and I agree. Raising the driving age to 18, will not solve anything at all.
Many teenagers cannot wait for the day they grab ahold of their licenses. They think of many new opportunities they have waiting for them behind the wheel. Teens may use this opportunity for reasons such as driving to school and work or running errands. Yet, sometimes they can get a little careless and cause a safety concern on the road with other commuters. Therefore, the age limit should be raised to the age of eighteen.
Driving as a teen is needed they need that freedom. teen driving is rapidly rising, but there are good in teen driving.Although opponents claim that it would be safer to raise the driving age, they should not raise the driving age requirements because it teaches teens responsibility, teens need to be able to drive to get to school and activities, and allows them to get job opportunities.“But the newly released teens would have little practical experience in the world”, Teens need that experience(driving)in the world.it states it because teens need a piece of the real world.teens need to be able to drive to get to school, work and sports
Busy parents, a busy young adult life, and mature teens are why the legal driving age should not be raised to the minimum age of eighteen. Sixteen is a traditional milestone in a teens life, why would one want to take that tradition away? All the opportunities sixteen year olds receive driving would be ruined if the driving age is changes to eighteen, which could also ruin a teens future. Driving is an American rite of passage and the system for it is fine just the way it is. Let’s keep the age sixteen sweet and leave the legal driving age
If the teenage driving age gets brought up to 18, we face two problems. One being they won’t gain experience driving. Number two, parents are going to get more pressure put on them to take their under-aged children everywhere.
The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States. Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main argument for most states is that sixteen-year old’s are not mature enough and lack the preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting their license.
