For safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive. My state legislature is considering raising the driving age to 16 to 18. I think this is a horrible idea. How can employed teens get to work? How can some teens get to school? Teens like me have to drive home from practice every day. Everybody cannot ride with their parents because they’re busy. This is a bad idea because how can teens that are employed go to work. I don’t have a job but other teenagers are employed. Every teen cannot catch a ride with their parents. A lot of parents are very busy. So that is one reason why that is a horrible idea. This is also a bad idea because some teens have to drive to school. I drive to school every single day.
Many teens in the US are employed part time while also attending high school. Having a license enables these teens to get to and from work, job interviews, or even in some cases become employed in the delivery business. USA Today reports that while 30% of teens have jobs, employment rate is still falling. Increasing the driving age would only decrease the number of teens in the workforce. Surprisingly one third of those teens working, do so to support their family. Without proper transportation these teens would be forced to either miss more school or work less in order to make ends meet while still
If you live in the United States of America, the legal driving age is sixteen, and has been for a while now. However, many states are considering raising the age from sixteen to eighteen because they think if students aren’t old enough to vote or join the military, they certainly aren’t old enough to drive. Changing this law will affect each and every person and family differently. Therefore, the impacts of changing this old law will have negative and positive consequences by limiting sixteen year olds who drive to work, helping keep the streets save from distracted teens, and confining teenagers’ freedom.
This would lead to a large amount of traffic in the area. The danger would be increased because of the fact that these are largely inexperienced, teen drivers. You would also risk the teens who don’t have transportation, and decide to walk somewhere for lunch, being hit or injured by these cars”.(crystal lamborado) in a school district of 11,000 students in suffolk county they stopped allowing students to go off campus because of a lunch time car that killed 2 seniors and another
Teens should should be eligible to drive when they received a work permit or have proven to parents that they are trustworthy and enough to take on the responsibility of driving. Taking away the driving privilege away from teens will also take away the chance for them to experience the responsibilities of growing up. Allowing a 16 year old and up can also be seen as a way for teens to take on responsibilities as and adults because driving is already a privilege so being a teen will make the fact that driving is a privilege paramount and it will help them to be more mature to keep the privilege.
The first reason why they shouldn’t change the driving age is school. If someone missed the bus and their parent is at work, they can just leave at a later time. This will help student teens get more rest and keep them from ruining their project on the bus. This will also help teens avoid fights on the bus. Being able to drive to school is one thing but work is another.
First of all, high school students like driving to school because they find it easier and better. Most school buses arrive at the students’ bus stop extremely early. If students are able to drive to school, there is a chance of higher grades because the students will be able to sleep later. The more sleep people gets the better they are focused. By being able to
The people who do not agree say “Raising the driving age will punish all young drivers for the mistakes of a few of their peers.” The reasons they are saying the don’t want the driving age to be raised is teens need the ability to drive just as much as anyone else-to get to school,to get to work,to get to sports or band practice, or just go out with their friends.Cars are necessary for mobility in this country.Taking that away is a large disruption to the lives of teenagers-for no good reason.
Driving ages throughout the United States vary state by state. In South Dakota, to obtain a license you only have to be 14 years and three months old. In New Jersey, you have to be 17 years old, but throughout the United States it is pretty consistent that you have to be 16 years old to get a license. Along with a license come many freedoms for a teenager, but also many restrictions. Restrictions such as the times allowed to drive and the amount of passengers allowed in the car are set in place throughout the United States. In South Carolina new drivers cannot drive between the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The majority of states have the restriction of no driving between midnight and 5:00 a.m. Vermont is the only U.S. state to have no restriction
One of the most exciting parts of life is getting your license. Teens anticipate getting their license all their lives. The state legislature is wanting to change the law to getting your license when you’re 18. Everyone is a beginner when they first start driving, so it should remain age 16.Teens should be able to drive when they’re 16 because they can get a job, they can drive themselves to school, and for transportation.
I think that the driving age should stay the same. One reason is that I think that if they are 16 they are old enough to drive. They have been through drivers’ education so they all should know what they are doing when they are driving. Also there parents should have already had them out practicing driving when they’re not in drivers education. I just feel that they are already old enough to be driving.
The first reason why I think teens are too young to drive is because they're too reckless. Teenagers think driving is a right, not a privilege. Teens are not mature yet. I feel like they're just going to cause road rage. The road is way too busy for inexperienced drivers.
I am a teen myself, and I am for it and not for it because it has benefits and downfalls. Most parents are going to be for it but some of the teenagers are going to be against it. It would just depend on what the scenario is for them to be out that late. The parents will defiantly be for it if they want their child to be safe.
In my opinion I think it is a good idea to keep teens safe, and away from street racing and stuff like that. I think it is a good idea because teens now and days love to show off to their friends and will do stuff that can be dangerous towards themselves and the people around them. Most of the time teens are with friends in car they will love to have music really loud because they like to have fun but they never realize how big of a distraction it is to have loud music while driving. So with being able to control the speed that teenagers can drive at and the loudness of their music can be, parents will be able to worry less about their child speeding and getting in an accident or pulled over. Also with being able to control the loudness of
Driving reflects the independence of many teens and allows them to reach sports events as well as academic competitions, and encourages them to be more independent and productive members of society. The state government should crack down on teenage drinking, the most prevalent threat posed on the road. According to lawforum.org, it states that teenagers are getting more responsibility, so why not grant teenagers more privileges. There are 1/5 children left at home from 3:30 to 5:00 without parents. Instead of being home alone, teenagers could drive to a job to earn some extra money, drive to the library, or tutoring
Having a teenage curfew is ineffective and useless. Many people argue that the curfews are necessary because it will keep young people out of trouble. They also say that teenagers are more likely to get in trouble late than they would during daylight. Teens are looked at as the age group that causes the most trouble, and society targets them when it comes to matter for crime, however many people believe that teens are responsible for a large percentage of crimes and that having a curfew in effect will help lower crime rates. I disagree with this because I don't think teenagers should be forced to follow a ridged time schedule because of a curfew.
