MDMA, or methylenedioxy-methylamphetamine, is a chemical that affects the release of serotonin in the brain and is a schedule I drug in the United states. Most commonly known as a part of the ecstasy pill or molly powder capsule, this crystalline drug is used at raves, parties, and clubs worldwide for a heightened sense of euphoria and a myriad of psychedelic effects. This substance is known as the love drug for it's ability to bring people closer together and lower normal social anxieties with its empatheogenic effects. In the last few years, more and more studies have been done on the valid psychiatric use for counseling and couples therapy. Here are some of the things found during the most recent of these studies.
Jyllian Kemsley Ph.D. is a chemical research scientist, and scientific research contributor to the CENtral Science’s Safety Zone blog that seeks to “cover science and technology, business and industry, government and policy, education, and employment aspects of the chemistry field”. Her article entitled “Psychedelic Compounds like Ecstasy May Be Good for More than Just a High", reports on the revolutionary research theory within the field of medicine that seeks to examine the prospective benefits of using psychoactive compounds in treating a number of mental conditions. The piece is well written, and presents a number of background studies that have evaluated the efficiency of these
MDMA or Ecstasy is a synthetic, psychoactive drug similar to methamphetamine a stimulant and mescaline a hallucinogen. Ecstasy has several slang names including Molly, E, Adam, Hug Drug, Love Drug, XTC, and Essence.
By 1919, Japan started producing methamphetamine which was cheaper and more potent than amphetamine. It was produced in a crystalline powder form and was able it to be dissolved in water, making it easier for it to be injected. This form of amphetamine is still legally produced in the US and is being sold under the name of Desoxyn. (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, 2010, para. 1-3)
Meaning out of all the drugs that are out there, Molly has a high potential for abuse. Molly is also classified as a mild hallucinogen and a psychedelic. Meaning that when someone is high on molly, they would hallucinate and start to see or hear things that are not really there. When Molly is taken, it acts as a central nervous system stimulant. The MDA absorbed through the body destroys serotonin-producing neurons in your body. These neurons role in your body is to regulate aggression, mood, sexual activity, sleep, and sensitivity to pain. This is why when people are high off of Molly, they have trippy dreams and feel unstoppable. Molly can be snorted, injected, but is mostly found in pill form. When in the form of a pill, they come in many different colors with pictures on the top to look
Primarily, John Steinbeck, use many techniques such as repetition, word choice, and figurative language in order to change the mood of the novel, The Pearl. For example, John Steinbeck starts the book off with a setting that is peaceful and beautiful by using a tranquil word choice. However, the chapter suddenly becomes sorrowful once the baby is attacked by a scorpion. During this scene, the tone of the author’s text allowed the readers to feel the fear as if we were really there. This is one example in the story, in which a change in the mood occurs. In addition, John Steinbeck tends to add many metaphors throughout the book, which get the reader intrigued about what the metaphor symbolizes and continues to add onto the mood. According
Meth is an amphetamine and a central nervous system stimulant meaning it is an upper (Inaba & Cohen, 2014). It increases respiration, heart rate, motor activity, and alertness (Fisher & Harrison, 2013). This type of drug leads to euphoria feelings by stimulating the reward center
Even though Desoxyn (pharmaceutical grade of methamphetamine) is a medication advised for weight reduction, ADHD, narcolepsy and depression. Methamphetamine is a life-threatening dangerous drug. because it 's highly addictive stimulant that burns up the body’s resources, creating a devastating dependence that can only be relieved by taking more of the drug. In addition when repeatedly taken over time, methamphetamine can damage nerve cells located in the brain’s pleasure center, causing irreversible harm to the brain. Making meth is also, an extreme hazard because meth labs produce severely toxic fumes. So toxic that homes/locations priorly containing meth labs can not be resold for an extensive period of time. The epidemic of methamphetamine abuse, causes devastating damage to teeth and oral tissues. Considering I want to be a dental hygienist, it important that I know what to look for, how to treat, and how it affects my patients.
Methamphetamine is classified as a schedule II stimulant5 (meaning it has high potential for abuse), which makes it legally available through a nonrefillable prescription, although it is rarely used medicinally, and only at doses
Ecstasy also known as MDMA and is an edible, candy-like, stimulant drug, that gives the user relaxed, energetic, happy, and sensual feelings. Passion: it’s what drives the human spirit. It’s a fierce desire of determination that persists strongly through all adversity. It’s the underlying tone in every success story, and the silent background to every screaming headline. It’s more than a moment of impulse, or an insouciant word scribbled on a scrap of paper. Every hope, aspiration, and dream that a heart craves, stems from this blazing fire of passion. Goals are what makes it possible to follow these dreams. I believe that setting goals is essential to keep on the right mental track to chase passions whether it involves a single class, academics, or life in general.
Ethics based leadership theories are primarily concerned with addressing three concerns. The first concern is the intent of individuals, regardless whether they are managers or just team members of an organization. The second issue involves the selection of proper means for doing things and the last concern surrounds the selection of proper ends. Ethics-based leadership has five key models; the basic integrity model of the virtuous leader, the ethical leader as a moral manager, the ethical leader as an authentic leader, the ethical leader as a spiritual mentor to followers, clients and constituents, and the ethical leader as a transforming agent of change for the common good.
Cocaine- Has similar actions as Amphetamines but the effects are more intense. People develop strong psychological dependence on this drug. A cheaper version of cocaine is called "crack".
