Dwight D. Eisenhower 1890-1969, Born in a small town in Texas Eisenhower became a World War 2 commander in Europe, and ultimately the 34th president. Dwight D. Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas, on October 14, 1890, the third of seven sons. Soon after his birth, the family moved to Abilene, Kansas. Eisenhower early learned the value of hard work, earning money by selling vegetables and working for a creamery, a place where milk products like butter and cheese are made or sold.
Eisenhower was an average student in school his favorite subject was World History. Eisenhower Excelled in Sports mainly football. Eisenhower graduated from Abilene High School in 1909. In 1911 Eisenhower attended West Point Military Academy, Eisenhower graduated from West point in 1915. Eisenhower married Mamie Doud in 1916. Before he became President, Dwight D. Eisenhower had to balance the duties of military life and home. The military took him too many different locations within the United States and around the world. At various times during the 1920’s and 1930’s, he and Mamie lived in Paris, Panama, Washington, D.C., and Washington State. Eisenhower later graduated West Point in 1915 being 61st out of 164. After the Army Eisenhower attended the University of Columbia, and became president of the university later on. Eisenhower later spent a few years stationed in Fort Sam until finally becoming a Second Lieutenant, Which is where he met his wife Mamie Doud.
