Where do you think the world would be without the major development of horror and detective genres? The one person that included majorly in the push towards evolving the growth of the horror and detective genre based stories we have come to love is from Edgar Allan Poe. Born in January 19, 1809 and later dying in October 7, 1849 Edgar Allan Poe spent most his life indulged in bad happenings such as his loved ones including his mom dying from tuberculosis. Continuing in the future he started to wright and produce short stories in the horror and detective. After, Edgar Allan Poe died his rival Rufus Griswold, decided to expose and criticize his work worldwide. But instead he continued Edgar Allan Poe’s fame by making a world wide spread throughout. Inside the article it even proclaims how far horror has come from Edgar Allan Poe by explaining “Today, Poe is recognized as one of the foremost progenitors of modern literature, such as horror and detective fiction, which represent the essential artistic manner of the twentieth century” (Edgar Allen). This bluntly explains how horror is very much included in daily life still continuing in our society and how well people indulge into this theme. Edgar Allen Poe was able to relate common lifestyle to his stories creating people to have some relation towards some of his stories. This was included in the article by saying “Poe related most stories to common basis without following into the fantasy side of reality as in a Tall Tale Heart that could commonly be revised as a crazed man that causes a homicide over an eye showing a situation that could happen in the real world” (Edgar Allen). The world we live in can be related to his stories causing a sense of actuality towards the connection of both these realities.
