Nowadays, social media has a big influence in our society. Who is didn’t use social media? Almost everyone use Social Media. Indonesia ranked 6th as the most Social Media users. After China, US, India, Brazil, and Japan. Our teenagers are so active in social media. Maybe they could be online in social media almost 24-hours per-day. But there’s a good and bad effects of social media. So, there’s some of bad and good effects of social media that we will discuss here.

In the age of technology social media has become a very impactful thing in our society. It has evolved and brought our society the use of how we receive Information and communicate with one another. Some may say it enhances our interpersonal relation because of it easy access to many people globally. But on the other hand social media can be very detrimental to people's interpersonal relationships because its negative effects like people being more prone to isolation. Overall social media in my opinion does hinders interpersonal relationships because it causes the lack of ability to socialize effectively in real life, cause isolation between children and teens, and the danger that occurs online.

As stated in the previous quote, close relationships are important for our well-being which can be enhanced on online dating sites and other social media. While technology does allow users to stay connected with family and friends from varying distances, technology’s negative effects also make it harder to maintain those relationships and have a lasting impact on how people will pursue their future relationships.

It is becoming more frequent in today’s society to utilize social media to connect and stay in touch with others. In fact, one could say that social media has become an everyday part of our lives. It is therefore of great significance, that one gives awareness to how the frequency of social media usage can affect our romantic relationships. This study consists of analyzing the amount of time one spends on Facebook and if the amount of time has an effect on the relationship satisfaction. Previous studies have gone over the aspects of the activities and concepts among individuals that can cause negative relationship outcomes but these studies have not extended beyond the concept of frequency. Moreover, previous research has suggested that individuals’ attachment status, individuals who have Facebook–related conflict, individuals who were in shorter term relationships, and individuals who have certain ideas of what normal behavior is when getting to know someone on the website can end up predicting negative relationship outcomes (Clayton, Nagurney, & Smith, 2013).

There are many controversies within our nation’s society; one of the main topics is social media. Many argue that it is “bad” because it causes issues and is unhealthy; where others argue that it is “good” because it allows people to connect with each other and “stay in the loop.” However, any way you slice it social media greatly impacts teen relationships. In more ways than one, it has a negative effect on tween and teen “romantic” relationships.
