Courage is important because if you’re not courageous you will not explore new things, get new experiences. An example of courage happens in the first couple of pages when Jasper and Charlie go out to explore late at night into the forest. If they haven’t gone out there they would’ve never found the body
Humans for centuries have been drawn to vampires. From sitting around the fire in the time before the industrial revolution, to sitting around the table and in modern times watching it on the big screen. The folk tales of the undead that hunt at night, sucking the blood of the innocent has haunted and intrigued the human psyche for as long folklore has been in existence. Being afraid of what is being told to them, yet being unable to pull away. The pull and push affect that these mystical monsters have on the human aura is undeniable. Modern day vampires have a cult like following. When the Twilight series came out, the people where divided between team Jacob and team Edward. Teenage girls would swoon over these monsters, dangerous yet alluring.
Courage is an important quality to have, because everyone can’t always be afraid of everything and let their fears hold them back. Sometimes people have to do things that they don’t want to do, or they have to face their fears.
First, to compare and contrast Twilight and The Vampire Diaries, the main characters need to be analyzed. Bella Swan and Edward Cullen are the main characters in the Twilight movies, while Elena Gilbert and Stefan and Damon Salvatore are the main characters in The Vampire Diaries. Both Elena and Bella are humans at the beginning of each series and fall in love with a vampire. However, the similarities between the two female characters end there. Elena is an older sibling and very protective of her younger brother, Jeremy. Elena is also very popular and has many friends. Elena makes it very clear in the series that she does not want to be a vampire. Bella, on the other hand, wants to become a
Courage is as stated in The New International Webster’s Dictionary of the English Language to be “the capacity to meet danger or difficulty with firmness.” In my mind courage has always meant doing what you had to do, and dealing with it because you had to. I never had a choice in my life whether I wanted to move to a different city
Courage is a quality that is learned, not a quality a person is born with. Dana is afraid of facing her fears but after the reward she becomes courageous and faces her fears. Dana admits she is scared to a total stranger when she is begging for money. < “I am a little scared.” I said, trying to sound convincing. That wasn’t much of an act. There had been few times since I’d left home that I wasn’t at least a little scared (7).’ > Dana
The essentials of a vampire story are an older man representing corrupt values and a young innocent female that get destructed in order to continue the life force of the male. This can be applied to the Twilight series, as Edward uses Bella. Edward and Bella fall in love; stripping away her innocence, and is brought into the lifestyle of vampires. In the course of the movie Bella gets hunted and runs away; using all of her energy. She runs away from home, stripping her from her youth. Within the next few movies, Bella gets pregnant, destructing her body, and gives birth to Edwards baby in order to continue the life force of the male.
Elena does get to see more action than Bella, both sexually but also plot-related. She is right there when vampires attack or a ghost possesses Bonnie or the secret vampire hunters search for vampires at town, etc. She is fully a part of the human world, comfortable with her friends and family, and she makes difficult choices in order to keep them safe.
Courage is something most people think they do not have, but when the time comes, they will eventually find it inside them, like me when I let go of my hatred for a person, who was another friend of Meadow. They thought that I wasn’t good enough, and criticized my good grades.
The Vampire Diaries is a supernatural drama television series based on the book series of the same name. The series takes place in Mystic Falls, Virginia a fictional small town haunted by supernatural beings. The series narrative follows the protagonist Elena Gilbert as she falls in love with vampire Stefan Salvatore and is drawn into the supernatural world as a result. As the series progresses, Elena finds herself drawn to Stefan’s brother Damon creating a love triangle. The vampires in the show are undead humans who feed on blood and who do not age, due to their immortality. The vampires in the show where a ring which is a day walking Amulet enchanted by witches to allow vampires to walk freely in the sunlight. Vervain is the vampire’s worst weakness in the show. It is a potent herb, if touched by a vampire it can cause burns to the skin. If a human has ingested vervain and a vampire feeds on them, the vampire is affected within seconds and extremely weakened. If a human ingests or holds vervain somewhere on the body such as holding it in a hand or pocket, or wearing it in jewelry, the human is protected by vampire compulsion and entitled to free will. They have the ability to fly, appear out of nowhere and compel people with the use of their eyes to get what they want. When vampires smell blood, they loose control if they don’t know how to control themselves. They need to be invited in to someone’s
The definition of courage is “The ability to do something that frightens one”. Courage is important because it helps you get through hard times, or times where you need strength. In the book, Masterminds, two of the main characters face many challenges. Tori and Eli had to be courageous to help them discover the truth about their town and escape with the others. Tori and Eli have to take out barriers keeping them in their town and climb walls to find out what’s happening in their town. While doing all this, they all had to keep it a secret. That might have been the hardest thing they could do. Based on evidence I found in the book, Eli and Tori have to be courageous at many times, but all different from each other
Because she was a lovable, caring girl, she had many people to support her through this tough time in her life. After the accident she realized how much strength it takes not to give up. When talking to a reporter interested in her story she said, “Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you. (Hamilton 183).
Courage or the act of being courageous is something that can depict if a person is being weak. This act ties into the classic tale when identifying the strength it took Sundiata to walk. Sundiata was at an age where other young boys were gathering objects for their mothers and he simply could not, due to the fact that he was unable to walk. However, “In a great effort he straightened up and was on his feet at one go, but the great bar of iron was twisted and had taken the form of a bow.” (Page 21) A boy who once couldn't walk was now walking. He who once had to depend on his mother can now be the one his mother depends on. Thus, “ When Sogolon saw her son standing she stood dumb for a moment, then suddenly she sang these words of thanks to god who had given her son the use of his legs”. (Page 21) Sogolon was so discouraged to the point where the sight of her son’s slow development became an embarrassment. She soon became joyful of the courage
It is discovered that Elena is a descendant of Katherine, who ultimately returns with plans against all three of them. Elena experiences many
Vampires are the ultimate bad boys, powerful, persuasive, loners and tortured souls. They search forever to find “her”, the fantasy of hot endless love. Which is why these females in vampire literature are willing to risk their lives for a vampire, they want something more. The darkness and mystery pulls these women closer and closer to what can be the greatest love of all time. For example Bella Swan from “Twilight” was a regular mortal who wanted nothing more to be with Edward Cullen the vampire. Elena from “Vampire Diaries” found love with a human who turned out to be a vampire. Even in “Vampire in the Lemon Grove Fila” didn’t not run away knowing Clyde was a thirsty vampire. All these women knew the risk of surrounding themselves around these vampires. But not one of them was willing to walk away.
