Everyday a different crime is committed; however, the reason or motive behind it is not always understood. Over the years, theories were developed to explain why certain crime occurs. For example, Andrea Yates was a mother of 5 who drowned her children due to a mental illness she endured, but there are many theories that play a vital role in explaining why she committed this crime. The theories that will be discussed throughout this paper are the Biosocial Trait Theory and the General Strain Theory.

Arline Crute Edwards is a native Staten Islander who has lived mostly on the north shore. She was educated in New York school system and attended Manhattan Community College. In High School, she was an activist who helped organized ‘Culture Day’ to highlight diversity amongst her peers. Arline is known for her cooking and first knew she had a knack for cooking when she showcased her it during Culture Day at Port Richmond High School.
Alice Brown Davis- lived all of her life serving the Seminole Nation, in the early nineteenth century. She mostly taught, but she ran a trading post called Arbeka. She also built a ranch, was in charge of other local Native American currency, and was the superintendent of the Seminole girls' school. Not to mention she was a law interpreter, and even traveled to Palm beach, Florida to act as an interpreter a murder trial involving a Seminole man. In 1922 she became chief by President Warren G. Harding. Here, she became the first women to lead the Seminole Nation. Though, she was elected by the president, not by her tribe. Her tribe found her to be “well thought of and well respected and the people were happy with having her as Chief. “
Born in San Antonio in 1986, Wesley Matthews, Jr. came from true sports pedigree. He father, Wesley Matthews, was a former NBA point guard who won two NBA Championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. His mother, Pam Moore, also played basketball and was an All-American runner. Matthews, who is currently a six foot five inch shooting guard was named Mr. Basketball in 2005 while playing for James Madison Memorial High School. After high school, Matthew received a lot of pressure to attend his father's alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Instead, Matthews chose to go to Marquette University. He made a good choice and was named Second-team All-Big East in 2009.

Sally Schofield, a respected caseworker at Maine's Department of Health and Human Services, had taken Logan in 2000. Alice Waters was born in Chatham, New Jersey on April 28th, 1944. She attended the University of California, Berkeley where she decided to study abroad for a semester in Paris. This trip to Paris broadened her passion for food, expanded her knowledge of various produce, and illuminated her innate ability to differentiate between tastes. As she was growing up, she noticed that she had a “Keen sense of taste”. Surprisingly enough, she only ate out at restaurants occasionally.
