The automotive industry encompasses all the companies and activities involved in the manufacture of motor vehicles, including most components, such as engines and bodies (Encyclopædia Britannica, 2014). Even though much of the manufacturing nowadays is done by robots, computers and machines, the strongest and most luxurious vehicles are still considered to be the ones that have had the most human involvement and effort applied on them. This makes simple tools such as the cordless hand drill necessitous in the entire process because of their wide range of uses and applications which will be further discussed in this report. Hand drills today, are used in almost every industry that involves assembling individual components to make a complete structure however, this report will focus on the design of a cordless hand drill specifically for the automotive industry.
