Introduction
The need for cheap and efficient means of travel coupled with the development of motor vehicles has seen a rapid growth in the automotive industry. The automotive industry encompasses all the companies and activities involved in the manufacture of motor vehicles, including most components, such as engines and bodies (Encyclopædia Britannica, 2014). Even though much of the manufacturing nowadays is done by robots, computers and machines, the strongest and most luxurious vehicles are still considered to be the ones that have had the most human involvement and effort applied on them. This makes simple tools such as the cordless hand drill necessitous in the entire process because of their wide range of uses and applications which will be further discussed in this report. Hand drills today, are used in almost every industry that involves assembling individual components to make a complete structure however, this report will focus on the design of a cordless hand drill specifically for the automotive industry.

Automotive Technicians are the people that repair your cars and keep them running properly for you with no problem. When working in this job you need proper schooling as well you cannot just jump in and work on a car you need proper training. Mechanics have lots of duties on the job in which involves a lot with computers and repairing parts for the client’s car. Mechanics earn a very good salary that continues to grow with the more experience you get in the job. Automotive Technicians is a great career to have because you work with many tools to figure out the problem, you get a good paying job, and you will never have to worry about getting a job because mechanics are needed everywhere.
To be a productive and active citizen in the modern world nearly requires access to a reliable automobile. We use our vehicles to get to and from work, to bring our children to school and other events and to travel about our communities. The vehicle has permeated so many aspects of our lives that sometimes it is easy to forget the extent to which we rely on it. Because of this reliably and because of the necessity of a working order automobile to get things done, it is of supreme importance to work to maintain your vehicle. None of us likes to be the person stranded, prior to an important appointment, because of an automotive issue. For these and other reasons, it is important to consider carefully an automotive service provider.
Machines running, hammers dropping, and drills drilling are the sounds of Henry Ford’s revolutionary assembly line. Henry Ford grew up in the late eighteenth century during the industrial revolution. There were no electric lights, only gas lamps and candles. Horses and trains were the only cost effective way of transportation for the public. When Henry Ford was a child, he saw a steam driven car on the road and was mesmerized. At this point, he knew he longed to become a mechanic that works on cars. At the age of sixteen, Henry Ford got a job as an apprentice machinist in Detroit at the Detroit Dry Dock Company. Do you want your vehicle to reach a higher top speed than expected, but do not know what enhancements to use for it to be done safely? Although there are many upgrades that can improve speed, you also need to improve down force and weight reduction to reach maximum potential. If the three of these are not done, then when reaching high speeds the vehicle may flip because it does not have the proper down force it needs to hold it to the ground. When the car has too much weight it could keep it from reaching the highest possible speed it can handle. So how can we first improve speed?
AutoZone has been in the automotive aftermarket industry for over 30 years. AutoZone was created by J.R. “Pitt” Hyde as Auto Shack. Auto Shack was eventually renamed AutoZone, and is now a Fortune 500 company Today, AutoZone is the United States’ leading retailer of automotive replacement parts and accessories with more than $8.1 billion in annual sales. They sell auto and light truck parts, chemicals and accessories. There are AutoZone stores in 49 U.S. states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Brazil. They employ more than 65,000 employees. In addition, they sell automotive diagnostic software through ALLDATA. AutoZone has ecommerce capabilities through AutoZone.com and alldatadiy.com. Their number one priority is customer satisfaction, and they consider their best product “Trustworthy Advice” (AutoZone, Inc., 2015).
Cars are everywhere these days and most people wouldn’t be able to live their daily lives without one. Well, unfortunately nothing lasts forever, so these cars must be worked on and repaired. Do you ever wonder why it takes so long to get your car fixed at a dealership? It takes a lot of skill to properly diagnose and perform repairs on a vehicle, so it can take some time to get it back into your driveway. Therefore, automotive technicians need to be extensively trained to make these kinds of diagnostics and repairs quickly.
There are at least two types of carmaker consortiums: 1) standard-setting consortiums, and 2) multi-party platform JVs. In standard-setting consortiums, multiple carmakers voluntarily participate in a non-equity alliance to drive technological convergence around a common standard, platform, or system, which all parties agree to use. Over time, these consortiums can grow large – with five, ten, even fifteen partners or more. Jackson Automotive Systems has been operated largely as a cash only business with very little if any debt outstanding typically.
We conducted our design review on Friday, May 13, 2016 with our professors and the other teams from our DTC section in Room G205 of the Ford Motor Company Engineering Design Center at 2:30 P.M. We presented the problem we were tasked with solving, our client’s and user’s needs, and our mock-up design, the “Triple Threat”. The Triple Threat is a system that places a structure that holds three rolls of netting, one on the top and one along each side, next to a row of up 20 vehicles. The netting is then deployed by rolling a structure that is attached to the ends of the netting over the row of vehicles. In addition to asking for general feedback, we asked those in attendance to address the issues of the potential stability of our product along with the problem of hailstones piling atop the netting.
Here is the automization level selection criteria and methods to be flexible of the system. And we will make our choice accordingly.
This work is done to study the improvement of the quality in automobile industry. This chapter consists three sections named as “Problem definition”, “Objectives” and “Methodology of the study” respectively. The section 3.1 named as “Problem definition” describes the challenge or difficulty that is to be solved. The solution may be achieved after fulfilling the objective by using some sub-objectives that are described in section 3.2 named as “Objectives”. The methodology described in section 3.3 in details. This methodology has been devised keeping in mind the view of “Problem definition” and the “Objectives” that are suggested for the fulfilment of the solution for the problem.
Materials are an important aspect of engineering design and analysis. The importance of engineering materials can be noted from the fact that historical ages have been named after materials. Materials Science forms the basic foundation for engineers in product development because the structures, components, and devices that design are limited by the properties of the materials. In the customer driven competitive business environment, the product quality is of paramount importance [1]. The product or end application quality has been found to be influenced by the engineering design, type of materials selected and the processing technology employed. Therefore, the importance of engineering materials and their process techniques are art of today’s engineering world.
