Entering The Workforce

Many jobs that one would get right out of high school are usually labor intensive or just not ideal conditions. These jobs include being the grunt worker for a construction company, working on a farm, or being a janitor. These job might not be terrible, but someone who does these would eventually become tired of their working environment. Having a college degree will typically end in having a more enjoyable job. Jobs like teaching, nursing, engineering, and accounting are all professions that require some sort of college degree and are considered nicer jobs with a better work environment. College will help students get a better job, but it will also make that student more prepared for adult

Going directly to college after high school can be completely beneficial to one’s life. It is what the government encourages while in high school and can easily be accomplished. By attending college at a young age you can live the infamous college life that so many adults speak of as “the best four years of my life”. These four years can be achieved and should be enjoyed. As a young student, one can have the stamina to attend class with hours on end. As a current college student, I see many adults coming back to college because they have been part of the group that has tried to succeed while only having a high school diploma. The truth of the matter is those high school students that realize that a four-year degree in college can secure a place in life that is acceptable for them will be the ones to succeed; furthermore, these students are the future of America.

I believe in order to have a successful career, you must go to college. When you have a degree, you have many more jobs to choose from (U.S Dep. of Education, 8). Employers would choose a college graduate over a high-school graduate. In the modern world, most good jobs require a college degree (Middle Schoolers: Why College?, 1). Having a degree insures that I can get a job with the competitive world we live in. A college degree also shows that you have persistent. It shows that you will push through when times get tough. When opportunity knocks you should always open the door. College is a great opportunity to garner success from a secure career. Furthermore, college or university education is worth the debt you will accumulate from it. If you're still weighing your options, consider this, "Lifetime earnings for college graduate are substantially higher than the earnings of someone without a college degree," (Source 4, pg. 13). Getting a higher education is not just good for you, but its also good for your bank account. On the plus side, it is easier for you to live a better life, and if America ever hits a recession you will be in a better position to support you and your family.

There are many choices and paths to choose when the time comes to attend college however, a question to ask is, is it worth it? If decided to attend college, the following decision to be made revolves around an area of study one would like to pursue and the topic of study that will be available for them. Though many can further their education in different ways, a couple of ways consist of attending a four year college (private/ public) or a community college. Not going to college at all is the other alternative, but is it really a smart idea? Most adults have continuously told young students all through high school to attend college. A student’s chance of economic success in the future can be risen due to a college education. Judith Scott-Clayton, who is an assistant professor of economics and education at Teachers College at Columbia University states, “Individuals with bachelor’s degrees earn about 60 percent more than those with just a high school diploma, who in turn earn about 40 percent more than high school dropouts.” Students who seek higher education, are more likely to experience a better future and a better life. The cost of going to college may seem overwhelming at times however, the experiences and education obtained throughout college is priceless in regards to the way one interacts with others on a global basis, has a stronger job stability, and has better employment benefits.

Many people always ask themselves if college is worth it and if it is then why. Sure there are positives and negatives of attending college, but which outcome will be better suited for you and your development. In any case, going to college is the right choice because it not only gives you a higher paying job, but also growth as a human being. The biggest plus to going to college is that it matures you into being an adult, so why skip out on an opportunity that will change your future! In the first place, college will pay off for itself once you graduate.

This question and many others have been poised time and time again. Why do I need to go to college? My parents didn’t go and their life turned out fine. My friends never, have time for relax and have fun why would I put myself through that. Bill Gates, didn’t finish college look at him now. In the article "The Future is About More Than College", by Joshua Starr only 3% of Americans think a high school degree is sufficient to tackle today's work force (58). Although college is not a mandatory choice, it will dictate almost every choice you make in your life there on after.

Many students are faced with the decision of whether they want to attend college, and their choice could either lead them into thousands of dollars of debt or a reliable, well-paying career. There are many deciding factors that need to be considered when choosing whether to continue education or start working. College is difficult and expensive, so if someone is not willing or able to complete college, it could be a waste of money. After evaluating your skills and what makes you happy, it is important to realize which career will be most beneficial. This career could require several years of college, or it could just require a high school diploma. Finding out what is best for you will help you develop a better future and a happier life. There are reasons why college is not worth it, why college is worth it, and why I think college is beneficial.

I feel that college is a no brainer. You should always try to go to college if the opportunity presents itself. And even if it doesn’t, there are other solutions such as community college, etc. Also, looking at the data, college graduates clearly make more than those who don’t go to college. Even though the wages haven’t risen and the cost of living has, going to college will still provide you with a higher paying job in today’s expensive and competitive economy. Not going to college will only hurt you because you have less of a chance to find a high paying job. Your best bet is to invest in achieving a college degree. Caroline Bird, in her essay, “College Is a Waste of Time and Money” argues that students who decide to join the work force straight out of high school, will do equally as well or better in life than those who choose to spend the extra time, money, and effort at a college or university.

Why should you go to college? Well would you rather suffer a couple years and eventually lead to success or, take your chances and skip those years and have a little chance of success? When not going to college you are losing a significant amount of money. Data and proven facts have shown that a numerous amount of people who chose to take the path of not going to college and going into a career directly out of high school are not as successful as people who go into college right after high school and get a degree. The number of people who decide not to go to college continues to decrease yearly which only hurts their lifelong income. By going to college and actually graduating you are guaranteeing a successful career and earnings.

As pounded in our heads by teachers and adults, after high school the best idea is to go to college. This may not be the case for everyone. There are many pros and cons for college. College is not for everyone, and I believe students should have the freedom to choose the path they take. For people who desire to acquire a well paying job, a degree may be required. Most data points that the fastest growing job categories require at least a college degree. Getting a degree can be as simple as going for 2 years or even 6. Getting a college degree will draw employers attention and gain respect. Some people who have a degree may get paid more at their job than others who do not. Expanding your knowledge is important as there is always more to learn. In my opinion, college is the best idea for any age student.

A variety of careers are available to high school graduates that do not have a college degree. For example, these jobs include military services, hospital aides, emergency dispatchers, electricians,and countless more. Many individuals have been successful entering the work environment even without first obtaining a college degree. Once highschool ends, you will think you are already done with school, and you can finally be free, and you are kind of right. However, your college education should not stop at high school, as high school only teaches you a few things. Going to college will teach things outside of just learning some basic math and writing formats. College will prepare you for life as well. By going to college, you will earn more, be more employable due to your accumulation of knowledge, and you will live a healthier life. College is not for everyone, but if you prefer a secure future then it is suggested to go to college. By pursuing business without a college degree, you could lose all your money and everything you have worked for at any moment if you are not cautious. With a college degree, you can earn a decent salary with a secure job.
