I chose Eponine Thenardier which is Mr. Thenardier and Mrs. Thenardier’ s daughter. She was as bad as her parents when she was a child, she would help her parents steal anything at their so called hotel or anywhere but Eponine mainly helped at the hotel. Her parents had a child named Cosette in their home that they were getting money for. Her mother couldn't take care of her so she brought money to the Thenardier as much as she could. All that changed when a couple of girls from her job announced that she had an an innkeeper taking care of her child then she got fired and kicked out into the streets. I picked Eponine because she seemed like the most less nasty and I wanted to know how she acted with Cosette and with helping her parents stealing.
Main Characters: Macey Clare, Austin Fent, Mr. and Mrs. Macey, Monica and Henry Fent, Venita Edna, Grace, and Lindsay.
As I began to hear the testimony, I recalled all the various wars that have created us into what we are today. Brother against brother, kings that ruled the land, and dictators that overtook anything they desired. Survivors from various disasters have had a chance to let others hear and feel what they have gone through when they were younger like us. Cesia Kingston, one of the many survivors of the disastrous Holocaust, shares her many experiences throughout her life. Some too precious to forget, but others filled with pain and sorrow. Through every word Cesia spoke, they filled my thoughts like a wave, but at the same moment I remembered the times when pain and fear overtook me.
Written in 1894, “The Story of an Hour” is a story of a woman who, through the erroneously reported death of her husband, experienced true freedom. Both tragic and ironic, the story deals with the boundaries imposed on women by society in the nineteenth century. The author Kate Chopin, like the character in her story, had first-hand experience with the male-dominated society of that time and had experienced the death of her husband at a young age (Internet). The similarity between Kate Chopin and her heroine can only leave us to wonder how much of this story is fiction and how much is personal experience.
Joan of Arc was born in Domremy, France in 1412. Her parents were poor tenant farmers named Jacques d’ Arc and his wife, Isabelle who was also known as Romee. Joan learned piety and domestic skills from her mother. Joan never ventured far from her home, and would take care of the animals. She also became skilled as a seamstress.
Louise Mallard is the protagonist of The Story of an Hour. The entire story is about her preservation. Chopin portrays Mrs. Mallard as a woman who is in deep suffering. She is not only suffering from a marriage she is not happy with, but she is also suffering from her medical condition. As if she had not suffered enough, she also puts a threat to her own life. We see this when Josephine is knocking on her door while she refuses to open it (Chopin). What is unknown to Josephine however is that her sister is in fact not suffering but savoring the moment.
Jeannette was always dirty from her adventurous because she lived in the desert for some time and would chase around the wild animals and insects. Jeannette was always traveling with her family and had no control of her life. Her parents were selfish, law breaking people who couldn't keep a job. Jeannette was young and didn't understand why her parents
Minny Jackson, because she empowers those she cares for and protects them. Minny is a strong woman she doesn't like to be viewed as an object she says it like it is. She does what she believes is right in the moment. “Minny made us put that pie story in to protect us. Not to protect herself but to protect me and the other maids. She knew it would only make it worse for herself with Hilly. But she did it anyway for everybody else. She didn't want us to see how scared she is.” (33.41)
Everyone makes poor decisions in their life that later has an effect on them. In three short stories by Kate Chopin, she explains how many people often make irresponsible decisions which eventually leads to dissatisfaction. With this in mind, the story Regret discusses how a woman rejected a proposal to live a life she later regretted. Including, Desiree’s Baby, which depicts how a young man decided to send his wife and child elsewhere because of their race. In addition to, The Story of An Hour describes how a woman puts herself through misery while trying to cope with her husband’s death. Kate Chopin reveals different aspects of these character’s lives that all respond in one common way, the remorse for their decisions.
It had been about ten months since Aileen Mavourneen was introduced to the family. I was never fond of her. She was a dog and since i was a cat, we didn't get along. She always had the attention and Sadie never played with me anymore. The baby was always pulling on the dog's fur, laying on it, playing with it, kissing it. My days are quite a bore now that no one does any of that with me.
My nights and weekends so far at Marquette have been pretty relaxed. On nights during the week, I tend to go to the AMU or the library to study and work on homework with friends. Also, on week nights, I have club tennis and try to spend at least an hour working out. If I get all of this done, I usually go back to my dorm to play a little Xbox or go to bed slightly earlier than usual. Weekends are different, in that I focus less on studying. I will hang out with friends at different dorms to watch movies, go bowling, attend any sporting events, play basketball at the rec center, and on Sunday, I finish any homework I have left. For me, this plan has been perfect. It allows me to balance my school work with some fun, keeping me sane.
Topsy, she was not the main character of this story, but played an important part (Hillegass 10). She was about eight years old and she was a slave of St. Clare (Hillegass 1). She would lie to get out of work she had to (Hillegass 1). They would think that she would be good for breeding, because of her light colored skin (Hillegass 1). She was beaten up physically and psychologically (Hillegass 1).
September 9, 2015, a baby is born. With black hair, brown eyes, and the face of an angle, she was wrapped in a two blankets and pajamas. The name on the certificate, Elizabeth, and she is born 5 inches tall, weighs 6 ounces, and has a perfectly round head, she looks like a turtle as she stretches her neck. We call her our little lizard, but to be honest she looks more like turtle than a lizard any day. The hospital I go to, to see little lizard, smells like soap and hand sanitizer, it brings back memories of a moment in time 2 years ago when I walked down the same hospital corridors to see my area 51 baby, Evelynne. As I walk down the same hallway to the same room where I first saw my Evelynne I am reminded of a responsibility, a responsibility
Easy - Which character started out as a responsible child who later turned into a caring, motherly person?
The character in the book that I identified with the most is Kate from the chapter “I Hate You, But Do You Love Me?” Fortunately, I did not end up in that situation today, but I easily could have. From my childhood experience, both of my parents were addicts and alcoholics. I witnessed things that no child should have. My mother would make my father furious sometimes. The things that she did to him were appalling. She would have affairs with other men to get her high, she would take me with her to use me as an alibi so that when my father would ask where she was, I would lie so he wouldn’t hit her. I understand that this scenario is a bit different than Kates story in the book, because, Kate did nothing wrong and my mother was an awful woman.
I walk nervously to the PeaceKeepers and register, getting a tracker injected into my arm. I know that I am not nervous for myself; after all, I only have one slip, while Katniss, my sister, has 20 slips out of a couple thousand. (Is that correct?)
