Table 4: Distribution of Women participating in every activity in the Barangay Percent Frequency Rank 0% 0 5 25% only 8 4 50% only 16 2 75% only 14 3 100% 62 1 It can be gleaned from the table above (Table 4) that Sixty-two (62%) of our respondents said that they gave 100% active participation of women employees in every programs in the barangay and Sixteen (16 %) of the heads gave a 50 % participation of their women employees in every activity in their office, unit/program. While fourteen (14 %) from our respondents gave 75 % participation of women employees in their office, unit/program. In the reports of Asian Development Bank (ADB, 2004) there is a need among women in politics and decision making to become effective change agents. Employees perform better when they have more ownership over their action (Shi, 2014). This means that most of the heads in every unit or program in the barangay are involving their women employees in the activities that they have. Moreover, it can also be said that women are now showing active participation in order to make their activities successful. Women are more creative. They are also more patience in work and very meticulous in details that lead to the accomplishment of every activity. Many believes that “in every success of man there is a woman behind.” In this clause, participation of women is acknowledged. More than this, women’s contribution to an accomplishment is vital. We can then
Women have fought throughout history in order to achieve different roles as well as to acquire recognition, independence, equality and respect. It has not been easy since they have had many barriers to overcome; their role in the family as wives, mothers and daughters; their role in society fighting for their rights, being heard and treated as men; their role as career women, not only receiving an education but also being able to work.
"In 1950 about one in three women participated in the labor force. By 1998, nearly three of every five women of working age were in the labor force" (Heatherfield, n.d., para. 4). In 2008, the U.S. Department of labor estimates that women will make up 48% of the workforce (Heatherfield, n.d., para. 6). As the number of women in the workforce rises so do the numbers of women who hold higher titles such as Chairman, CEO, Vice Chairman, President, Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President, and Executive Vice President. This number has increased from 7.3% in 2000 to 9.9% in 2002 (Diversity statistics, 2006).
Through the efforts of influential women activists through history, women could achieve gender equality and eliminate the inferiority complex that was labeled on them.
On the same token, women face unique challenges that throughout their different life stages that places them into the Special Population group when compared to men. Women still face challenges today in areas of social, economic, sports, political and cultural despite the fact that there has been success in empowering women and shattering the glass ceiling for employment promotions. They live 7 years longer than men, make up majority of the world’s population but yet they are greatly ignored. Some women are subjected to part time jobs and lower wage position than their male counterparts. Likewise, women face ageism and sexism in the media on the average profile of a woman.
Women have proven time and time again that they are capable, strong, and independent. They’ve proven their worth to society and led us to where we are today. While we still face inequalities in our society, we’ve overcome many hardships not only in our home country, but around the world. We can look at each individual woman above and see how her strength, her confidence, and her dedication contributed to the bigger picture. While individually they may seem like small steps, they are raindrops in the hurricane that helped break down the barricades in our world that trapped these women. Each woman helped to destroy the stigma against their weak and frail bodies, their fragile minds and emotions, and their lack of knowledge of the world. Without women, the Allies would have lost the war. It goes to show that sometimes we have to swallow our pride on our social issues and accept that every person is human. Every person is equal, and if given the opportunity, can be just as contributional as their so-called social
In author’s speech she mentions; “Nobody ever helps me into carriages, or over mud puddles, or gives me any best place! And ain’t I a woman?” she compares herself with a woman who received help from a man. This brings up together relevant information about woman having the capabilities to be as equal as men, to be as hardworking and skillful as man. As a matter of fact; nowadays; there is woman discrimination nowadays such as unfairness in equal pay in job opportunities. Most women tend to earn less money than man and have less opportunities than men. For the fact that women are not as strong and intellectual as man therefore women will not be employed for the lack of efficiency than men.
Women have determined the course of events and the forms of human culture. Women originated, founded, governed, prophesized, created great art, fought for our rights, and for our people. Female boldness had in many societies been required simply to defend personal liberty and self-determination, carving out space to act in spite of patriarchal constraints, to become what the English called “a woman at her own commandment.” These women were edited out of history, their stories omitted, distorted and replaced with men. Women have been relocated to the footnotes of history, and even those highly selective (Dahsu, Max
Women’s contributions and struggle have added richness to the history of America. However, women in 20th century did not reach the level they should have. The women were viewed as the one responsible for domestic chores only. They were believed to be the property of their man and were suppose to follow their “master’s orders”. Men believed in the inferiority of the women. But there have been many inspiring historical female figures in the past who struggled immensely, sacrificing to accomplish their goals for causes which include women’s suffrage and equal rights for all types of people. There were many remarkable and memorable women who changed
Today, the circumstance has changed radically, part of women has enhanced accordingly women have the capacity to do things which were beforehand commanded by men. Women have exceeded expectations in the field of science and innovation; they have just as done well in games and have likewise entered the work market.
Over the last decades women have had a big impact in the history. From unknown heroes to the big and known names, a lot of woman have helped and contributed in changing the perspective of the “The Weaker Sex”. Women played vital roles in the Civil Rights Movements, struggling among men and fighting for their rights, they risked their lives also demanding for their place in society. From Parks refusing to give up her seat, the women taking over the men’s jobs in the wars, to the female members that fought for social equality among the historical minorities in the United States, such as the Mexican Americans and Puerto Ricans that led to the respective movements.
Women and men have had certain roles in society that were understood amongst them to be specified for their particular gender. Males were known to have the leading role as head of the house hold and the bread winner while the woman’s duty was to stay at home and take care of the house and children. While many people years ago deemed this way of life and practice to be the right and ethical thing to do, times have changed and so this kind of treatment towards a woman’s equality must be questioned. Even though times have changed, this mindset of a woman’s ability to be as good as a man has not completely gone away. In today’s society a woman contributes to the economy and her family as equally as that of a man. Therefore, women should share equal rights and opportunities as their gender counterparts.
A women's role has changed tremendously and is making its greatest impact in our society today. Many years ago, women's contribution to society was limited and controlled by men. Women are standing tall and are playing a major role in many important areas. Women's role has changed at an accelerating rate and have part in areas such as Politics, Professional Training Jobs, Medicine,Business and Law. Formerly they were not part of any political matter, but they have advanced in many aspects. For example, women have attained power and have been growing in political office.
Through the influence of the language the roles of women in the society have changed. It originates from women who live in traditional setting and their responsibilities were to give birth and take care of homes. From this influence women have shifted to careers that were perceived as for men such as engineering and other technical careers. Coverage is done on day to day activities of them. This creates enthusiasm among writers and intellect. In most of this coverage these professionals are asked to advise the young. Large percentage encourages them to work hard in academics. Since most of them would like to achieve such, they are motivated to continue working hard school work. This also encourages women that in a male dominated society they still have their position and point to prove. (Tebbel, 2000)
Throughout history, women have been seen in many different lights. From a woman’s perspective she is strong, smart, helpful and equal to men. In the eyes of men, she is seen as the weaker being, the housewife, and the caretaker. By looking at the following pieces of writing, one can see that through the centuries, women have struggled to break out of the mold that man had put her in and make themselves known in society as important.
The increase of the number of women entering the workplace, especially those issued from higher education has resulted in a movement of change within businesses,
