The movie High Noon written by Carl Foreman and the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Rich Connell are both really good stories that contain a fairly different plot, but they also have some similarities. High Noon is about Will Kane, who is a Marshal in a town called Hadleyville. He is a brave character that doesn’t stand down. He recently got married to a Quaker, but conflict appears when Frank Miller, who is the man Kane sent to jail, is coming back to town. Also he has trouble swearing in deputies and has to fight Frank and his gang alone. “The Most Dangerous Game” is about Sanger Rainsford, who is a world renowned hunter. While on a trip to the Amazon rainforest, he fell on a trip near Ship-Trap Island. He found a chateau on the island. He was taken in by General …show more content…
In the short story, Sanger Rainsford is a very brave since he accepted the challenge that Zaroff gave him, and if he failed he would be killed. Besides being brave, he is also quite smart and clever. In the story it states, “ He executed a series of intricate loops; he doubled on his trail again and again recalling all the lore of the fox hunt, and all the dodges of the fox” (Connell 18). In this section it describes how Rainsford is going to survive his first night. He is making a very tangled and confusing trail that has a lot of loops, and learned this from hunting a fox. In the movie, Will Kane is also very brave, but besides that he is also very loyal to his town. When Miller was coming to town, Kane could have easily ran away and put the whole town at risk, but he stayed back because of the town. Kane says,” Amy, look. This is my town. I’ve got friends here.” (Foreman 296). In this part of the movie, Amy is mad at Kane for staying back to fight Kane. Kane is trying to make her understand that this is his town and that he has friends that he doesn’t want to be in
“ The world is made up of two classes--the hunters and the huntees,” stated Rainsford in the famous short story, The Most Dangerous Game, by Richard Connell. Connell’s story is a fictional story about man hunting man. His piece of literature was made into a movie later on, and in the movie Rainsford made a very similar statement. However, there were changes made between the short story and movie. The similarities and differences become clear in both the plot and resolution. Although the the literary work and motion picture have much in common, they are also quite different.
The two stories, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, and “Lobo: the King of Currumpaw” by Ernest Thompson Seton, both have two characters with major similarities and differences. Lobo, was a fierce and skilled wolf who worked his way around traps and obstacles that tried to capture him. On the other hand, General Zaroff was a vicious antagonist. Zaroff is in a life threatening game with another serious hunter, Rainsford. The two characters (Zaroff & Lobo) show a resemblance to each other and share differences.
Though both stories have so many differences, they also share many similarities. Both stories, “The Sniper” and “The Most Dangerous Game”, have a dark, serious mood. This mood makes both stories more exciting and suspenseful. Both stories are about risks, which mean that deaths will happen in the story.
“The Most Dangerous Game” is a very good story with a lot of suspense and foreshadowing. The story plot is about an experienced hunter, Rainsford, who falls off of a yacht in the middle of the Caribbean, and finds himself on a small island. He then goes to seek shelter and finds a mansion, where he meets another hunter named Zaroff who was tired of hunting because it wasn’t challenging enough for him. To resolve his issue, he decides to hunt something different, humans. Soon after, the two begin hunting each other. After many traps set, and shots fired, the hunt is finally over, with Rainsford coming out victorious.
There happen to be different settings in both of the short stories but both of the settings adapt well with their plots. In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” the setting takes place in the early 1920’s after the First World War on a small tropical island somewhere in the Caribbean, known as Ship-Trap Island by the sailors. Amongst the sailors, they have a mysteriously threatening reputation, which typically scares others. Individuals who pass by the area of Ship-Trap Island sense a subtle, deceptive sense of evil that haunts a number of individuals. The island is covered with a condense jungle that extends all the way down to its insidious, rocky terrain. Whereas, in the short story, “Young Goodman Brown” the story is set in the late seventeenth
I will be comparing the video verion of The Most Dangerous Game to the story.
High Noon, which is an old western type of movie, is about a sheriff named Will Kane that has to fight to save his town. "The Most Dangerous Game", which is a short story about a man named Rainsford who has to fight for his survival. High Noon and "The Most Dangerous Game" have similar main characters and similar story patterns, but have a different overall theme.
In the stories, “The Most Dangerous Game”, “Liberty”, and “Harrison Bergeron” all compare among their similarities. Each story uses the setting and their conflicts to show the theme and the characteristics of each character. In these stories, they all have different conflicts and settings, but they use the conflicts and settings to relate to each other in their characters and the themes.
The movies/stories of High Noon and The Most Dangerous Game are very similar but different in a way. Kane and Rainsford are the main characters of the stories. The two are being hunted down by their arch enemy. Frank Miller is Kane's enemy, and Zaroff is Rainsford's enemy. Kane's best friend, Harvey, wants to be in charge—the Marshall—after Kane leaves town with his new wife Amy. Rainsford defeats Zaroff, and he might take charge at Ship Trap Island if he decides he wants to. Frank Miller's crew hasn't done anything wrong yet to get arrested; however Zaroff did.
Whenever people go to the movies or read a book, they long for an interesting story to be entertained by. Whether it is action filled or suspenseful, they want a stimulating plot that makes them feel good. In 1952, Carl Foreman wrote the screenplay for a movie called High Noon; a classic tale of when the hunter becomes the hunted. Then in 1924, Richard Connell wrote another classic, called "The Most Dangerous Game". Although both stories demonstrate similar examples of the setting and conflict, the main characters react very differently to the unusual situations they find themselves stuck in.
High Noon is a classic movie that is considered one of the greatest movies of all time. On the other hand, The Most Dangerous Game, written by Richard Connell, is just another short story. The main character of High Noon is Will Kane, and Sanger Rainsford is of the other. Both of these people are fighting for survival, but they cannot get help in one way or another because they are alone figuratively and physically; the setting is also similar yet nothing alike. Although the setting for High Noon and The Most Dangerous Game are similar, other aspects of the stories are quite disparate.
The themes for High Noon and The Most Dangerous Game are vastly different, yet both portray equally important message that we witness in the stories. " Then Amy's gun goes off, and
In High Noon, Will Kane is stuck in a town surrounded by desert with the only way out being the train, which is how Frank is entering. This is crucial to the setting because if they were in a more congested area, there would be more places for him to hide and an abundance of ways to vacate. Also, in High Noon Kane is not only alone physically, but mentally too. "Ext. Street. Kane walks steadily toward the hotel. The street seems empty except for him, but Kane has the feeling that eyes are watching him" (Foreman 303). This exert shows shows that though there are people around, nobody offers to help, making his isolation seem even more intense. In "The Most Dangerous Game" Rainsford is by himself on the island besides Ivan, the mute guard, and Zarroff, who are both indifferent about his life. That leaves Rainsford to fend for himself completely and try his best to act logically, on an island in the middle of nowhere. " 'The old charts call it Ship-Trap island,' Whitney replied. 'A suggestive name, isn't it? Sailors have a curious dread of the place. I don't know why. Some superstition-' " (Connell 211). The two hunters first pass the island and it quickly slips from their thoughts as they continue their journey to the Amazon. Ship-Trap was on its own in the middle of the ocean, with no direct outlet back to civilization. Both stories are similar because of their
When you watch the movie High Noon, and read the story "Most Dangerous Game" you may not see many similarities and difference when you first read, or watch. But you might start to put the puzzle together when you watch a second time to think about what's the same, and different about the two. Some of the main similarities and differences are, in both stories the main characters are outnumber by their enemies. In High Noon, four bad guys coming to town to take their revenge on Will Kane. In "The Most Dangerous Game" Rainsford is hunted by Ivan, general Zaroff, and his pack of dogs. Another similarity I spotted was when both characters needed help the most there was either no one there to help them, or there was no one brave enough to help them. And my last one is a similarity and a
