Bigfoot Legend The legend of Bigfoot has been told for hundreds of years. A legend is a traditional story, sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated. Bigfoot’s legend started in the 1920s. Native Americans had told a story about a “wild man” in the Pacific Northwest and the story has changed numerous times between families and tribes ever since then. It wasn’t until the 1950s when the story had traveled over to the United States. The story of Bigfoot is a legend because the story has been passed down for years and years. Although the legend has yet to be proven true, people still believe Bigfoot is a real creature. The legend of Bigfoot started being spread during the 1900s. The legend originally started by the Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest region of the world. The Native Americans described Bigfoot as, “a giant, hairy creature that appears half man and half ape” (Today I Found Out). People believe him to be six to eight feet tall and have a head like a gorilla’s, round and crested. Bigfoot has red-brown fur with large feet, which is why he was given the name “Bigfoot” by the Native Americans. Bigfoot was identified before the white colonists had moved into the Pacific Northwest. There were many …show more content…
In other words, a legend is a story that could have been told recently or millions of years ago and may not be proven true. The legend of Bigfoot fits the definition of a legend because we may have the evidence to back up Bigfoot’s existence but there has yet to be any solid proof discovered that this species actually exists. As told in the story about Gerald Crew, some people create large footprints for the attention of the media. Although the evidence we have been given has not been proven true yet, there are still many people looking to find the true answer to whether or not Bigfoot is a real creature or just another
Performing extensive research, I located and listened to any recording I could locate of a Bigfoot speaking. Mary Green’s book “50 Years with Bigfoot: Tennessee Chronicles of Co-Existence” was also used as a reference. Mary had compiled a dictionary of “Bigfoot” words, along with phrases based on a notebook kept by Janice Carter.
Big Foot was the chief of a subtribe of the Lakota called Miniconjou. He was very old and had pneumonia. He was taking his tribe to the Pine Ridge Reservation in south-western South Dakota.
Leaving the area of the “Infrasound encounter”, I venture down a long narrow trail, investigating an area on the lake shore. Lurking in this area were at least three Bigfoot that I would soon encounter. The following is this account taken from my book “The Bigfoot Field Journal – Volume 1.”
Justin Smeja and the driver of the vehicle observed a Bigfoot standing in a small meadow approximately eighty yards from the road.
Bigfoot is NOT real. There is no evidence that he is part human, there is no DNA evidence, and there is no valid video or picture evidence that proves he is real. He is just a legend that has been passed down for years. It’s impossible for something that is 7-10 feet tall, covered in fur, and lives in the woods can survive for so long.
For over a 150 years man has been troubled by one great mystery, a mystery that has baffled all who have witnessed it and all who have tried to solve it. This mystery is commonly known as Bigfoot, a tall hairy man/ape who lurks in the woods in almost every country on this planet. Some say it is just an ape, some believe it is a man in costume, and others are true believers of this hairy phenomenon. For more than a decade and a half this creature of myth has caused enormous contradictions in the field of science, bringing about one question. Does Bigfoot exist?
The Blackfoot People are one of the many Native American Indian tribes that roamed America in the early 1700s. Like many tribes they were nomadic hunters that lived in the Great Plains of Montana and the Canadian provinces of Alberta. The name is said to have come from the colour of the peoples shoes that were made of leather. They had typically dyed or painted the soles of their shoes black.
How did the myth of the so called “Bigfoot” come up exactly? Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest would tells stories about a “wild man”, a hairy half man, half ape. The Native Americans would tell a variety of
necked prehistoric beast. None of the stories have been confirmed to be true or any more relevant
Bigfoot is an odd unexplained creature that we have no idea of but we have a lot of hard evidence that points to something. As you can see of how many names he has there’s a lot of people who has seen this big hairy ape like creature. Theirs evidence that points to human hybrids. So maybe the evolution of Bigfoot has evolved a lot and we don't see it, because since theirs no actual Bigfoot right in front of them people tend to think he is fake, but with all the eye witness accounts out there it points to something
The quest began when Bigfoot was captured on film for the first time by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin. In the year of 1967, the two men were out in a remote mountainous location in Northern California. After Patterson heard about the tracks found near Bluff Creek, he was determined to make a documentary about the mysteries of the Sasquatch. Buoyant, he rented a 16mm movie camera and went to the area in question with his comrade, Bob Gimlin. He caught the beast on camera casually strolling through an open clearing, staring at Patterson filming while continuing to walk. The film became known as the Patterson-Gimlin film. According to Animal Planet, "The Patterson-Gimlin film is widely regarded as one of the strongest pieces of evidence for the existence of Sasquatches,” (“The Patterson-Gimlin footage”).
Bigfoot has become an influence to American children for decades. Bigfoot (or “Sasquatch”) is a tall, dark haired cryptid humanoid. With the mystery and merchandise, many believe that Bigfoot is real. Unfortunately, many believe that the furry beast is simply a hoax. Based on countless discoveries, Bigfoot has existed at some point. Considering the proof presented by dedicated Bigfoot scientists and fans, it would seem ignorant to totally debunk the controversial topic of Bigfoot. Perhaps people are not digging deep enough to actually find the creature. It all started when Bigfoot was captured on film for the first time by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin. Black Elk was born in 1863 in Wyoming (“Black Elk”). He would later become the Oglala Lakota holy man (“Black Elk – 1863-1950”). Chief Crazy Horse led a group of Sioux Native Americans in government resistance. Being Black Elk’s second cousin, Black Elk was able to closely see the actions of the government towards the Native Americans. In May of 1877, Chief
Although the specifics of Bigfoot may be vague, almost every culture has had its own stories regarding the human-like creatures that roam the world.
The Loch ness monster myth has been around for a very long time. Deep down in the depths of Loch Ness Lake, this monster has been averting capture and clear documentation from humans for over 80 years. Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it? This myth is a lot like the legend of Bigfoot. Although some may believe in the existence of Bigfoot, Bigfoot is not real because there is a lack of evidence, other theories, and it overall just isn’t logical. Therefore, Bigfoot is fake.
