The tragic play Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare during the late 1500’s. The play was originally born in England and finally published in 1597. The tragic play takes place in the beautiful Italian cities of Verona and Mantua. Two high born families, the Capulets and Montagues, and entangled in a spiteful feud. This resentful feud will result in the tragic death of two young lovers Romeo and Juliet. Romeo who is from the Montague family and Juliet who is from the Capulet family will fall in love with each other, and keep their love a secret. The aggrieved family feud will be the one to blame for the early death of Romeo and Juliet. The hatred the two families had for one another is what caused the unfortunate death of Romeo and Juliet. To hate and to hold onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to suffer. The hate the two families had for each other was toxic. Hatred is something that can destroy so much, and the hatred between the rivaling families is what executed Romeo and Juliet. Forcing Romeo and Juliet to keep their love in the dark, pushed the young lovers over the edge. That hatred was portrayed when Tybalt, a Capulet, said “What. Drawn and talk of peace? I hate the word as i hate hell. All Montagues. And thee”. This statement allows the readers to fully understand that there is no room for peace …show more content…

Friar Lawrence was a man of god who accepted the love between Romeo and Juliet. Although he warned them, he did in fact hope that their love would cause a change in mindset between the rivaling families. Yes Romeo and Juliet were young and made hasty decisions, but they are not to blame for their own deaths because they were forced into a dark corner by their families.
