Knute Rockne once said, “Football is a game played with arms, legs, and shoulders but mostly from the neck up”. First coming into this media search, I have researched mostly about the injuries that have been happening all around the world. Through the vigorous of finding the information, I have found many facts about my topic from a lot of different sources. If players are constantly getting hurt what is the point of players playing, to hurt themselves? Too much has occurred to players, we need to make a change and make it feel like they play to have fun without any injuries that stop them from doing that. Players wear helmets, shoulder pads, cleats, thigh and knee pads, compression shorts, cup, and still not enough to stop people getting hurt. An article by Alan Neuhauser once said, “The same damn thing happens every year, and were not getting answers” (usnews). If the same injury occurs to people every year, I would think of a way to prevent this injury by fixing or adding more gear. The most important element in football I believe is your gear that players wear. The concept of the game is to score and win, as well as not get hurt. With the protection of more gear, it can help reduce many of the injuries. The last study that I had looked at went more in depth about concussions. Gina points out, “When a football player suffers a concussion during a game or in practice, whether they’re a pro or a student, it’s serious business”(WebMD). Any type of hard hit to the head should be looked at no matter what to make sure the player is okay. A concussion “Shakes the brain so hard it hits the skull”(WebMD), and really affects the brain. A concussion stops them from any activities until they get better for about 2 weeks unless it's really serious. I wish concussion would never exists and players can just play to have
