In the beginning of book one of the first exercises it asks “ Who am I ? ” that question kind of threw me off guard and made me think hard. I asked myself who am I exactly? One thing i really learned about myself is that i'm royalty how the book says “ YOU ARE ROYALTY” i'm royalty because I have a roof above my head every night , I have food to eat and I own clothes. I realized that we are not all blessed with these kind of things. We often take these things for granted . Sometimes we take all these things for granted . We don't learn how to appreciate these things . I never thought about who was my hero in life but I just learned that my grandmother from my mom’s side is my hero because she always gave more than she had .When she saw people struggling she opened her arms and decided to help them out with food , a place to stay and many other things . she had the kindest heart because of her she inspires me to become a better person and to help others who are struggling in life. I could help them to improve their lives and i could guide them to the right path. I learned that I always talk about issues with my friends about what's going on in society to relationships to life. It's always important to be there for your friends. One thing I learned about myself was how im good at dancing and how i'm good at encouraging people and being thankful for life. Things that make me feel good would be getting myself a good education and having a job . I also learned that I want to connect with others and gain more ideas. I learned that my motto is No matter what you go through in life you will find that light at the end of the tunnel it may
2. What does it mean to be human? Did your concept change after reading the book?
Since the beginning of the United States government, Americans have had the right to vote. This right is entitled to most citizens of America, but it is not entitled to citizens that have been convicted of felonies. This is called disenfranchisement; where an ex-felon cannot vote, own a weapon or go into the army. Specifically, voter disenfranchisement; only two states in the US are not subject to this law. In the past 40 years due to disenfranchisement the United States criminal justice system has withheld the voting rights of 6.1 million Americans due to their convictions. Maine and Vermont do not hold restrictions due to past felonies. With over 3.1 million civilians out of prisons or other facilities this hurts the overall point of democracy, making it unconstitutional to withhold these rights that are stated in the amendments for the knowledge of American citizens.
“What are selfish people but ones who use the weakness of others for their own pleasure?” This is a question posed by an anonymous “philosopher” more than likely desperate for validation, driving them to ask such a ridiculous and simple question that we all know the answer to. But, despite this, the question intrigued me. The question, no matter how naïve and boring it is, does make you think, Well, what are they? And, in my little and oh so insignificant opinion, they are so much more. A selfish person is not only a parasite that feed on other people’s weaknesses, but they do indeed feed on the weaknesses of themselves as well, sucking out their A self-parasite, perhaps? A selfisite? Nevertheless, they are like this because their selfish deeds not only negatively affect the people around them, but themselves as well. This is demonstrated greatly in two stories, “The Most Dangerous Game,” by Richard Connell, and “The Necklace,” by Guy de Maupassant. Inn “The Most Dangerous Game,” the protagonist, and hunter named Rainsford who is on his way to Rio, fell off the side of his yacht and got stranded on an island. As it turns out, the island is inhabited by General Zaroff, a fellow hunter. A hunter, that hunts humans. “The Necklace,” is a story about a woman dissatisfied by the life and class she has been given. After borrowing a necklace from a rich friend, she loses the jewelry and must pay for a new one. These stories prove that acts of selfishness lead to the suffering of
I realized I alone was responsible for how I lived my life and I alone can change it. I began expressing myself more, getting involved in my community, and seizing leadership opportunities.

Give a detailed description of how the book impacted you on a personal level To truly recognize how a book can open your eyes and give you a fresh perspective, I think you have to read the book, There Are No Children Here, by Alex Kotlowitz. This book describes a social impression that few people actually experience or fully understand. It has all the aspects that a good quality book needs; facts, struggles, a little romance and the greatest importantly a strong family bond that you study to rely on. This book has laid many things into perspective for me. I realized that my problems are nil compared to Pharoah's and Lafeyette's.
Overall, this book is a really deep thinking book, I haven't fully understand what the author is trying to teach us, but I love this process of stretching my

“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul motivated by love.”
There is a lot of things that I have learned about myself in the past few weeks of this course. I have learned many things about myself that I would have never known if it was not for this course. I have learned about my; self concept, attitudes and feelings. I have also learned about social influence, group dynamics and relationships. I learned about myself and how to describe the way that I am and the way that I think.
At first when I found out I was going to have to do this essay I was not too excited. I had no idea what I could possibly write about because I did not know that things I did on the average day could be considered community service.
I personally love this book! This book made me feel aware of how other people have
This book is an eye opener, making you look at things in a different way changing your views and perspective of things we thought were impossible or that they had no relationship at all. He incentives you to formulate the correct questions by questioning everything that you feel curious about. Just remember what a genius once said, "I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious."- Albert Einstein. Just remember how the book says
