I chose to read the book It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. I’m at the midpoint of the book and so far I have mixed feelings about the plot. I already have thought about the characters I like and dislike. My favorite character, hands down, is Craig because I can relate to his personality the most. If you know me, you know that I’m a very awkward person and can sometimes get very anxious and stressed about things that are not worth working myself up about. Although I relate to Craig very closely, I have contradictory feelings towards other characters. For example, some I have very strong emotions for, while others I find displeasing. For example, I do not like the judgemental quality that Craig’s little sister has, but I do support how she cares for her brother even if …show more content…

Sometimes, I do not even know why I get stressed! I get confused because I can be happy for a long period of time and then in a flash I get sad. I can also relate to Noelle because she likes to hide her feelings (she also has the same music taste as me!). This book reminds me of The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. This book reminds me of another drama filled young-adult novel, not only by the style of writing, but the plot. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is about a teenager who entered a new school after being “bad” for a long time. This relates to It’s Kind of a Funny Story because it is yet another book about a stressed out teenager who entered his first year in a competitive high school. I think Craig will start to get better. While that is a very broad statement - I think it’s 100% true. Craig will have his revival moment. I also think Craig and Noelle will begin to have feelings for eachother just by the way they communicate with each other (sending notes).
