The Meredith Kercher ordeal is one that has caught the eye of many all over the world over the past few years. According to Jay Epstein, “On the night of November 1, 2007, Meredith Kercher, a twenty-one-year-old student from South London, was murdered in a cottage on the Via della Pergola in the ancient university city of Perugia in Umbria, Italy” (311). The excessive amount of blood loss, caused by “deep stab wounds in her neck” ultimately led to her death. The man convicted for her death, “in a separate “fast track” trial” was Rudy Guede (Epstein 315). Yet, evidence from case reports suggests that this was not a one man operation. This evidence indicates that Kercher’s flat mate, Amanda Knox, and her boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were also possibly involved in her with Rudy Guede.
Meredith Kercher was born December 28, 1985 in Southwark, London, England. She was a foreign exchange student who studied at University of Perugia in Italy (Epstein 311). According to Epstein’s The Annals of Unsolved Crime

Over all, blood was nearly found on all her clothing except her underwear. This also indicated that her bra most likely removed after she had died. (TJMK Evidence Overview par. 16) According to Nina Burleigh’s, The Fatal Gift of Beauty, “Tests also revealed five spots of Meredith’s blood in the bathroom—on the sink, the bidet, a Q-tips box, and a drain—that prosecutors contended were mixed with not just Amanda’s blood…” (260). Three different bloody footprint sizes were also found to be at the crime scene. When technicians were asked to compare the shoeprints to the footprints found inside the house they presumed that there was print of a women’s left shoe (Messi Report). Rudy Guede’s bloody shoe print was found in the victim’s room Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were also thought to have stayed behind during the murder to clean the
The theme of following your dreams was shown multiple times throughout the movie. It means to attempt to make your fantasies into reality and never give up on it. The process of following your dreams may be painful and include sacrifices. In the movie “Rudy”, Rudy has a dream of going to Notre Dame to play football there. One example for this was the decision Rudy made to leave his friends and family to study at Notre Dame. He left his dad and fiance to study at Notre Dame. This was a sacrifice made in order for him to follow his dreams. Another example of Rudy following his dream was him attempting to raise his marks at Holy Cross, so he can play football. He wanted to play football at Notre Dame, but he didn't have the grades
An acquaintance of Knox and Kercher’s was Rudy Guede. He was a drifter who had been raised in Perugia. He lived near the girls’ residence where he surely saw all of the commotion of police and media
Teresa Halbach’s car, keys, and bonesbody were all found on Steven Avery's property. Her car was found in Steven’s auto salvage. Her car was found far back out, covered with branches and wood. Blood, Sweat, and fingerprints from Steven Avery were found in her car. The car keys were found inside of Stevens House. In addition bullets were found in Steven Avery’s garage. These bullets matched the rifle he had hanging above his bed. In addition, the most important piece of evidence found in this case was Teresa Halbach body. There had been a burn pit where Steven burned wood, tires, old things, and Teresa's Body. Her bones were found scattered all over in the burn poit. In front of Steven Avery's door were Teresa's cellphone and
Crime scenes are known to have many clues left behind. The obvious would be a the body or bodies, clothing, and sometimes even the murder weapon. While these are great way to solve a case there's another kind of evidence; trace evidence. Trace evidence are small pieces of evidence that are laying around a crime scene. There are many types of trace evidence some of them include metal filings, plastic fragments, gunshot residue, glass fragments, feathers, food stains, building materials, lubricants, fingernail scrapings, pollens and spores, cosmetics, chemicals, paper fibers and sawdust, human and animal hairs, plant and vegetable fibers, blood and other body fluids, asphalt or tar, vegetable fats and oils, dusts and other airborne
When a man is a product of his environment and the environment is filled with violence and hatred, the possibilities are horrifying. Richard kuklinski is a prime example of just that. His childhood was something no human, let alone a child should go through. His anger built up and his life eventually was overcome by it. He then progressed to a cold-blooded killer, starting small, and then ending with the mob until his capture.
Jeffery Dahmer is arguably the most notorious serial killer -cannibal in history. Targeting men and boys, Dahmer‘s life of crime began with drinking and sex offending. His murders were exceptionally gruesome, often involving rape, torture, necrophilia, dismemberment, and cannibalism. The media often commented on how “normal” Dahmer appeared. Jeffrey Dahmer made everyone question how one develops into such a monster. By the time of his apprehension, Dahmer had sodomized, murdered, and cannibalized at least seventeen men, mostly black, Hispanic or Asian, in the Milwaukee area between the years of 1978 until his arrest in 1991 (Williams pg.1).
Amanda who is the prime suspect, changed her story over and over again during the first few weeks following the murder. Her first story was that neither she nor her boyfriend, Rafaelle, were present at the apartment during the murder. She says they were at Rafaelles smoking pot and having sex ( Murphy Denis). Just five days later her story changed again. She claimed she was present at their apartment as well as Lumamna, who she claimed killed Meredith. However, during her court trial, she confessed that Lumumna was never present and that she made the confession up. Her final confession came back to the first: that she was never at the apartment the night of November 1, and that she didn’t remember much of the night because of the weed. Another thing covered in Denis Murphy’s, NBC news article was hat Amanda claimed to have returned on the morning of November 2nd and saw traces of a break in, blood on the carpet, but was not alarmed. Amanda then showered and returned to Ralealles houses. They both returned to the apartment around 12:30pm when the police showed up and broke down Meredith’s door to find the gruesome murder scene.
Once the public believed that Frank was the killer, there was no turning back. The police and court had to make sure the evidence lined up to prove him guilty in order to prevent public uproar. For example, bloody fingerprints were found on the victim's jacket, but there is no indication that they were ever analyzed. Also, a trail in the dirt along which police believed Phagan had been dragged was trampled and no footprints were ever identified. The police feared that if this evidence did not line up against Frank, it would have caused a public uprising. Another suspect, Jim Conley (see p. ) never had his shirt tested for blood because he said he had been drunk and away from the factory the day that Mary was killed.
Rudy 1993 Andrew Tidwell Sociology 1010 Rudy This movie is based in the 1970s it covers a boy named Rudy as he pursues his dream of being a football player for Notre Dame. Rudy spends his whole life being told that he could never be a football player yet he never gives up. Rudy was only “5'6" and weighed 165 lbs”(Source 2). His team even made fun of him yet in the end they grew to respect him.
First, Chloe’s fingerprints were found on the paint left on the chair near the crime scene is in tandem with the paint tray. According to the Forensic Report, “The fingerprints on the chair is Chloe’s…, concluding that Chloe was near the crime scene at one point during the day” (Forensic Report). In the Powder Lab, the fake blood that was discovered on the patio chair was cross-referenced with Chloe’s fingerprints, a perfect match was found. This evidence provided from the lab suggests Chloe got to the scene after Ray left to use the bathroom at approximately 2:45 pm. Another compelling piece of evidence to furthermore develop the case against Chloe is the powder on the her shoes. The powder was used to make the fake blood on the chair. As stated by the Forensic Report, “The cornstarch on Chloe’s shoe was used to make the fake blood” (Forensic Report). In the Powder Lab, the substance on Chloe's shoes was found to be a match of the powder used to produce the fake blood. This evidence depicts that Chloe stepped into the powder while trying to make the blood. Chloe put the blood in the chair at the crime scene to make it look similar to blood. In conclusion, the physical evidence shows Chloe’s compelling motive to commit such
Through mistakes made within the investigative process of the case, the outcome of the case was affected. On the collection of evidence many pieces were contaminated causing flaws in this evidence. When packaging blood swabs the cotton swatches used were packed in plastic bags and then left in a hot truck. This blood was also contaminated as the technician who handled it still had the blood voluntarily given by Simpson on his gloves (Jones, 2009). Degradation of missed blood, which was left for three weeks after the initial run through, may have turned unusable by the time investigators examined it. It was weeks after finding the socks at O.J. Simpson’s house that the police noted the blood on them. Destruction of evidence may have been caused through the bodies not being taken to be autopsied till 10 hours after they were found. During evidence collection the majority was compiled by a Junior Detective, who was taped dropping blood swabs as well as wiping tweezers with dirty hands, this made the evidence highly contaminated (Deutsch, 1995). To conceal the body of Nicole Simpson a police officer place a blanket over the body, this was done to

Washington Irving created a pseudo historian for the purpose of bettering his own work and to entertain his readers. In 1809 Irving wrote "A History of New York" through a persona known as Diedrich Knickerbocker. This was Knickerbocker's first appearance in Irving's work, but it sure wouldn't be his last. Although he was not real, Knickerbocker was a historian that seemed to be in love with the people and landscape of the northeast, particularly New York. Even though Irving never revealed it, some of his characteristics may be found within Knickerbocker's writing.
Blood and the stain patterns created during these acts of violence are of particular interest to the forensic examiner. Bloodstains are routinely utilized to make critical forensic links between victim(s), suspect(s), physical evidence, and the crime scene. To assess the entire forensic value of a bloodstain, the stain must be located, and the physical characteristics of the individual stains that make up the overall pattern must be visualized in a nondestructive manner. Merely locating bloodstains on a garment is sufficient for DNA testing, but to fully understand the entire value of the stain patterns, there must be an ability to visualize the physical characteristics associated with the stain: stain size, shape, distribution, location, overall physical appearance, as well as the interrelationship between the bloodstain and the substrates on which they are located. A bloodstain pattern analyst will evaluate physical characteristics to determine what type(s) of mechanism(s) could account for a specific pattern. This pattern analysis can then be incorporated with other related forensic findings to reconstruct the events surrounding the blood-shedding
Blood evidence is the most common, most recognized and possibly most important evidence in the world of criminal justice. Throughout the history of violent and fatal crimes, bloodstain evidence has recently begun to emerge as a recognized forensic skill. “Blood is one of the most significant and frequently encountered types of physical evidence associated with forensic investigation of death and violent crime” (Eckert & James, 11). When a violent crime has been committed, blood is commonly left behind at the scene of the crime. This blood evidence allows police investigators to piece together the events of the crime. The texture, size, shape, and distribution of the blood can be used to determine when the crime
