People who experience child abuse (any type) and survived are called “resilient”. However, not everybody can be resilient. In many cases, children develop different problems and grow up with a pain in their hearts. Many people became advocates against child abuse, to help others that may be victims as well.
David Pelzer, the author of the books, “A Child Called It”, “The Lost Boy” and many others have become advocates against child abuse. He is a motivational speaker and lectures around the US and aboard. "Learning from our prior experiences, we can, and should, aspire to fulfill our dreams, making life better not only for ourselves but for others around us during the course of our life's journey," (Dave Pelzer, from the introductory page of Moving Forward book, 2008)

However, in some places there is lack of attention and supervision to those who need our help the most. In some domestic violence shelters, caseworkers and victims do not have boundaries. “Boundaries’ allow domestic violence advocates to justify separating their personal lives from their professional advocacy, and reinforce the unequal distribution of power between advocates and domestic violence victims” (Boundaries in Casework..,Global Public Health, Sep. 2009, p.464) There should be more support and therapy sessions for the children and adults who have been experiencing any type of violence. Many people suffer from mental and emotional problems because they were victims of child abuse. We all should be consider ourselves as advocates against child abuse and keep close eye on children we work with and people around
