Ethical issue: Abortion:

The ethical issue i have chosen to analyse in response of the catholic church is Abortion which in New Zealand the Abortion procedures are either through ‘Surgical abortion” or by a ‘Medical abortion’ which uses pills rather than surgery ,These two are known as ‘induced abortions’ and are different from a ‘Spontaneous abortion’ which is usually called a miscarriage. In 2016 alone there has been 2,823 abortions performed in New Zealand which is 3% fewer than in 2015 (13,155). Medical abortion was introduces into New Zealand in 2001 and is provided around the country.

Abortion which is stated in Dictionary.com, is a method of removing a fetus or embryo out of the womb/uterus in the early weeks of the pregnancy in the intention of no longer keeping or wanting the unborn child for many various reasons. (http://www.dictionary.com/browse/abortion) Causing this procedure as an “ethical” issue meaning that as seen on Dictionary.com (http://www.dictionary.com/browse/ethical) is “pertaining to or dealing with morals or the principles of morality; pertaining to right and wrong in conduct.” this leads that this issue will raise many thoughts/perspectives, along with beliefs from many people and will cause debates focusing on the politics and law relating to this issue; leading people to question whether abortion should be outlawed and treated like the murder of a human person, or remain a legal choice available to all women? There are many different viewpoints on whether abortion is ethically right or wrong which in some countries Abortion is not allowed at all believing it is morally wrong on the basis that a fetus is an innocent human person or in most countries they allow rape victims to undergo this procedure as it would cause physical or mental health problems. Some also think abortion is alright if the mother’s life is at risk. In this ethical issue there are people who call themselves “Pro-life” who say/believe that abortion is wrong and bad while on the other hand there are people who call themselves”pro-choice” who supports abortion.
