Ethical Responsibilities of Celebrities

Being a celebrity is not all it is cracked up to be. They have to deal with situations that the average citizen most likely cannot relate to. For example, many celebrities constantly encounter paparazzi who stalk them in order to take their picture, invading their privacy. Celebrities must also juggle demanding jobs, while maintaining a home life that many attempt to live as normally as possible. Celebrities lead busy, hectic lives that require them to appear in public frequently, exposing themselves to intense scrutiny; nonetheless, the private lives of celebrities should be off limits because everyone has a First Amendment right to privacy, it is invading their privacy not our business, causes different problems such as serious damage problems that might end up messing with their careers, and affecting family members in a negative way.

Moreover, the stuff they have, I can’t even imagine having and it’s just not fair as they get to live there dream, luxurious, divine life and we are just here living a middle class life having no enjoyment. no one could disagree with the fact that at some point of life they have wanted to be a celebrity. I believe that everyone in this world should be at the same level, rank and elevation.Most celebrities ruin their lives- when they retire they become into donkeys as they drink so much of alcohol and then they do something stupid such as car accidents and all that. Henceforward, they get whatever they want whereas you don't you just feel like crying? I just think they are greedy, selfish ans show off. however, there are some celebrities that are kind in heart but specifically I'm not talking about them ones, just the ones that I described because you can get some nice ones. Some of us would say “No”, but the majority of us would leap on the prospect of living the life of a celebrity. Who doesn’t want the perks of vacationing all over the world, having someone wait on you hand and foot, receiving freebies from designers and all the other perks that come with being a celebrity? The question is do we want the downfalls that come with fame? Can we handle vicious tabloid scrutiny, fabrications, and assumptions? Being a celebrity has its perks, but at what cost? Fame and money can be the root of all evil. Never the less, we are contributing to the madness when we purchase tabloid magazines, watch entertainment shows that follow celebrity activities and judge them for their actions.

Young people have been a main focus in society. Since 1960 there has been an increase in youth crime which is the reason as to why there are major adult concerns (Newburn, 2013). “Government became more harsh and intrusive in dealing with young people who were seen to be a problem” (France, 2007, pg.19). Older generations perceive young people as having less morals and respect in comparison to what they did at their age (Newburn, 2013). In particular, society views the youth of today as troublemakers, lazy, untrustworthy and unreliable. There are different theories that provide an explanation between involvement in offending and different factors such as family factors and wider social factors which will be discussed below.

Consequently, by conducting these actions, we are taking away their first amendment right. The value of the first amendment right is really grandiose and perhaps the most crucial right to have. For instance, the first amendment right has shaped the U.S.A to be distinctive from other countries. The first amendment gave everyone, not just common people, the entitlement to freely express themselves. However, with social media watching and judging their every move, it's hard to be a part of everyday life. Even going to the supermarket might have to require a distortion for the media. It's as though celebrities are being trapped in a prison. This is unjust because they never signed a contract agreeing to surrender their lives for the public. It's as if we are making people , who give up their privacy, like robots and force these "robots" to be on top of a cliff overlooking embarrassment and fear. All these people ever asked was to be open to public about his or her talent, not giving up their invaluable privacy. “Everyone has a right to their own opinion”, a fairly famous quote both true for celebrities and ordinary citizens alike. When there’s a topic getting a lot of attention from the main media outlets, celebrities are asked for their opinion on where they stand on the topic. Yet, whether they are asked to give a statement or not, they are still allowed to have the right to do so. No matter how large or small your influence is in society, your voice shouldn’t be hushed away because it wasn't as agreeable as the others.

Many celebrities are looked at as role models, their behaviors and comments are always right in some people’s eyes. Although some celebrities are aware they are idols for some people and try to promote healthy behaviors and bring awareness to global issues. Other celebrities don’t bother; they act wild and make bad decisions. People look at celebrities and think “they’re wealthy and successful so I need to act just like them if I want to become wealthy and successful also.” If someone’s idol acts like a jerk then that person will think that it’s okay to act that way when it’s not.

Different age groups tend to be represented in different ways in the mass media. Children (up to the age of about 14) are often presented as consumers of toys and games, are generally presented in a positive light. However, the youth (from around the age of 15 to the early 20’s) are often portrayed as a ‘problem group’ in society, and as a major source of anti-social behaviour, particularly youth working-class, and especially African Caribbean, males. This is highlighted in Item C as it is encouraging the idea that the youth are being portrayed as a source of a lot of problems and crime in today’s society.

This essay will first introduce the subject of juvenile crime and youth violence and indentify similarities to these situations around the world. Next, this essay will explore the idea and role of capitalism and hot it contributes to the problem. Finally, this writing will discuss the media's role within this complex situation and how it affects the circumstances revolving around this particular problem.

Celebrities are everywhere in the news, the latest gossip appears in the weekly magazines without fail. Whether they be an actor, athlete, dancer, designer, model, singer or just rich; there is someone out there who is watching that person like a hawk, not letting a single breath go unnoticed. The rights of celebrities for privacy have always been abused, so they need to defend their rights, despite their profession. Though they are public figures, this does not mean that the publish of every detail of their private lives is justifiable. It is legitimate to take pictures when they are at the stage or on the red carpet, yet most cases they must be left alone. However, the media always inclines to release both sensational and negative news to public.
