Everyone Needs Health Supplements
Some people may say, "why bother with health supplements?" Some people today would like to believe that all we have to do to keep ourselves healthy is to eat a proper diet. That's where the problem lies. The question I propose is, "What is a proper diet, and how do you go about getting it into your system?" Some would say, "Well by eating healthy food." There's another problem. What is healthy food and where do you find it? You won't find it at your local grocery store as you will soon find out. Others might say, "We have a garden where we grow our food." That's a start, and it also tells me that you are already aware of the fact that there is a need for a more nutritional

I know this not just from reading about this issue, or listening about people talk about this issue but from my own experience. I know what it is like to feel emotionally and physically tired, although I was eating what some consider a well-balanced diet. I was eating all the right foods. However, I found out that I was not able to get all of the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that an individual needs to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Why is that? I would have to consume large amounts of food to meet the nutritional requirements of my body. Why do I say this? Let me tell you why.
First of all, there is the issue of the nutritional value in the food we eat, or should I say the lack of nutritional value in the food we eat. There is much evidence available today that clearly states that the food sources we have are highly deficient in nutritional value.
For a long time the scientific community made light of health supplements. This is no longer true. The American Medical Association and also the Federal Drug Administration are now singing a different tune. In fact they are praising the value of health supplements. There is now a new field of nutritional science specifically for the study of vitamin and mineral supplements.
As I said earlier, one of the most common reasons given for not needing food supplements is, "I eat well-balanced meals, I don't need
It’s important for people to have a good well balanced diet to enable them to get the right nutrition’s they need to stay fit and healthy.
Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consume too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight. These last two years, however, I started to gain weight and have become concerned with my diet. Changing my poor eating habits has been difficult for me, however, having this assignment has taught me that it is not as difficult as I previously
An increasing number of people are using products to enhance their diets. A recent estimate indicates, “Americans are spending some $6 billion annually on nutritional supplements, and the market is growing by 20% every year” (Zahn, 1997). Of these supplements, the increase in herbal remedy use is most dramatic. Zahn holds that the increase can be attributed to the widely held belief that herbal substances are healthy and harmless because of their natural origins (1997). Unfortunately, research on these supplements, herbal or otherwise, has not transmitted to the public as quickly as the diet enhancers themselves. The phenomenon leaves many consumers misguided by skewed advertising and
The influences of underlying health conditions can result in the need for specific nutrients as well as influencing what people are or aren’t able to eat.
There are many underlying health conditions that result in an individual having to alternate their dietary intake. It’s always important that an individual eats healthy, but because of not being
don’t get enough your body cannot function optimally. Severe deficiencies cause debilitating diseases but even marginal intakes can cause subtle changes that affect your health today and your risk of chronic disease tomorrow. An organic substance is classified as a vitamin if lack of it in the diet causes symptoms that are relieved by adding it back to the diet. The fact that the vitamins we eat in food are essential to health seems simple and obvious, but it was not always so. For
Today in the Western Hemisphere, many chronic health problems result from bad eating habits. There are a mix of people who are over-nourished, malnourished, or both. We eat chemically altered, high-fat toxic foods that do not provide a sufficient amount of essential vitamins and
Maxfield also makes a significant point of, “…nutritionist suggest that adult humans will eat in a way that is good for them, given the opportunity” (Maxfield 446). This is an example of how the need to eat healthily is linked directly with us. If the ability to make a better choice is available, then that choice will be taken by adults, whilst the job of the adult is to feed their children so you know if the adult wants to make good choices for themselves, they will for their children. We do not need to worry about the health impact of food unless it is taking a mental impact on a person's life like anorexia. These things need to be treated, but when talking about something such as the correlation between food and one's health the evidence is invalid. People need to wake up and realize this. The diets we put ourselves through can be more threatening to our lives than eating what we
Throughout the years we have been prescribed with regular medications for whatever illness we have and also in using supplements for our weight loss program. We at times neglect or willfully forget the side effects and risks we are faced off with regular medications. This is the reason why a lot of herbal supplement companies are increasing in popularity because of the supplements they are recommending in exchange of the regular medications. There are more and more people being aware of these supplements performance. They prevent the onset of a possible health problem and also increase performance with considering very little complications or side effects.
Dietary supplements are becoming more and more widely used. Whether it be for sport performance, herbal, or just a vitamin, many are being used and misused. People do not understand how dietary supplements are regulated and what the pros and cons are.
Due to there being countless supplements to choose from, sundries of individuals trust health professionals for primary nutritional advice. Furthermore, there are many who are in quest of improved holistic health alternatives to remain renewed, and uphold their health.
According to the 2002 Harris poll, seven out of ten adults in the United States take vitamins, minerals, herbs, or other supplements (Schardt 2). Due to media advertising, dietary supplements are becoming more popular. Companies compete to have the best supplements. It is said that forty percent of American adults take vitamin supplements and over the counter products, which total in several billion dollars (Farley 2). Although many of the supplements claim to be healthy and help lose weight, the dangers are endless. Dietary supplements can be illegally spiked and are not safe. Therefore, putting regulations on dietary supplements and their safety hazards is necessary.
Supplements have become very popular in the United States. Americans want a cure-all for their health problems, and supplements have become the point where they are turning. In fact, it is approximated forty percent of Americans use supplements. (1) Even more astoundingly, a survey conducted between 2003 and 2006 established fifty-four percent of American adults use some strain of supplements. This large demand from Americans, and, in particular, athletes, has created a booming business for supplements in the US. It is supposed nearly twenty-seven billion dollars were spent on supplements in 2009, with roughly thirty-five percent of that figure being specifically vitamin supplements. Because
Proper nutrition is one of the most essential elements to being healthy and living a long life. People deal with food every day, and food has been a part of life since the beginning of civilization. What we eat becomes our diet, and our diet plays a major role in deciding how healthy we are and how well our body functions. Without proper diet, our body cannot carry out the functions it needs to perform. Most people have some common knowledge on what is good and what is bad for the human body to consume. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains are some common items people think of when they think of healthy foods. However, it is not enough just to know what foods are good for your body, it is also important to understand why certain foods are
In M2 we have been set the question ‘What are vitamins – and who needs them’? Vitamins are essential substances that cannot be manufactured by the body. We need small amounts of vitamins for growth and development. Without vitamins the body cannot survive.
