I think this is a good passage to read. Everyone needs fruits, veggies, and whole grains in their diet. It says in the passage that eating fruits and vegetables helps to prevent heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. I probably do not eat as many fruits and vegetables as I should, actually, I know I don't. I do not like very many vegetables, only green beans and occasionally carrots if they are in a roast or something like that. Fruits are good, but I don't think we buy them as often as we should. We get strawberries every once in awhile and apples, but I do not like apples. Fruits contains many essential vitamins that we need. I think it is interesting that it says in the passage, ¨Studies show that eating cereals can help you live a longer life.¨
Barry is asking the public to take care of their health and learn more about the food industry. He is asking us to participate in food production by growing our own food and preparing our own meals. He suggests we need to buy directly from local farmers. Even though this article was written twenty seven years ago, it is still relevant to today’s society. Wendell Berry's “The Pleasure Of Eating” is a strong article about how and why people take for granted the food they eat. I agree with Barry that eating is a cultural and agricultural act. I also agree that the food industry has fooled us into buying prepared food, and fooled us to believe that chemicals in our food is good for us. However we need to eat responsibly, by knowing where our food comes from. We also need to buy from local farmers, and prepare our own meals. I agree that we need to grow our own food to feel the reward and labor that farmers feel.
Throughout your paper I did find a few grammatical, and spelling error. I will try my best to include as many as I found. I will also include the sentence below my comment, so that you have a better understanding of what I am pointing out.
POP, 1. POP, 2 . POP, 3. It was at that moment that an american terrorist finished his magazine of bullets that he had aimed at all of children and teacher in sight. His assault rifles have firing off at least 20 bullets before he had to reload. The children scattering, hiding and cowering in fear as he began to reload and search for more victims. This has happened one to many time in the last 10 years of american history. Some of the biggest incidences being Columbine, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech & the Parkland High School Shooting. However no changes were made to our current gun laws to stop this from happening again. The people of this country are tired of seeing innocent children being dragged away in body bags. Two-thousand eighteen is the year that the children and adults alike took to the streets and
Both passages share several narrative elements, including setting, character, plot, and theme. However, they differ in the specifics of each element and how they are woven together to create a unique story. In Passage A, the setting is established as a castle atop a hill, shrouded in mystery and history. The character, Sarah, is introduced as someone drawn to the castle's secrets, setting the stage for her exploration.
Per your question, ‘give me a couple of examples of how this could be done in a church?’ One example and instance, when I served as Youth Pastor in Virginia. When I took over, the youth ministry did not exist. There was a youth choir and youth came together on occasions to do various events, but no viable youth ministry. After much prayer and the Pastors’ agreement, I set up a flow chart and during a church meeting, asked each department for assistance to help bring the youth together under one umbrella. This took several months to logistically work out, however, once it took effect, information began to flow from each department to help with no schedule conflict, the youth ministry grew from 2 to 120 youth, which
In this article “The Pleasures Of Eating” by Wendell Berry he states that “Eating is an agricultural act”. This article is mainly about how industrial produced food is very unhealthy for people , animals and nature. The people who make these unhealthy food do not want the consumers to know how it's made or what's added into the product. Many people do not notice the taste and feeling of processed food and natural food. Berry’s planned intending to be more mindful of the nourishment you eat and where the sustenance you are eating is originating from and the treatment of the nourishment items. He utilizes the redundancy of thoughts all through the whole piece to get his thoughts altogether beat into your head and make you think and see
This passage reflects both motifs and literary features that often present themselves throughout the novel. The motif of balancing sanity and insanity is seen several times in this book and can be seen in the syntax of this sentence because of how long and sporadic it is, but the narrator is trying to seem as if he and the others are uneffected. He does this through rhetoric absolutes in both this passage (“There it is”) and throughout the novel. The rhetoric absolutes in this novel establishes a feeling of disconnect for the reader just as the soldiers were forced into an emotional disconnect from the events of the war if they were to maintain their sanity. The phrase, “you can’t change what can’t be changed” is the base for the acceptance and apathy the soldiers obtain for the degenerate acts they must engage in, in order to survive and maintain a reasonable amount of mental stability. However, while the soldiers are doing everything that they can to appear apathetic the use of repetition in the novel is often employed to show shock, pain, fear, etc.. In this passage, the repeated use of the, “there it is” statement suggests to the reader that O’Brien
Tim O'Brien is notorious for responding to questions about his novel, "The Things They Carried", with very vague statements. After reading the end where Tim admits that most of this story is- in fact- fiction, an intrigued reader is dying to figure out whether or not any part of the book is true. Personally, I believe that the emotional torture Jimmy Cross goes through that stems from Martha, his love from home, is a story that can not be imagined- this just has to be true.
I think this activity helped us a lot because we all had to give a closer look to our figures. For our intermediate draft we were asked to describe two rhetorical appeals only. However, for this activity we had to describe all of them. Therefore, I learned that all of them interact in order to convey the stakeholder’s goals. They all overlap so that the stakeholder conveys its message. Activities like this one furthers our analysis and helps us look beyond the image; for example, it makes us ask ourselves questions like: Why? How? Where? instead of just describing WHAT happened. Regarding my issue, I learned that it’s not as simple as just changing the laws in order to benefit migrants. It would require a change on people’s ideas as well.
Berry attempts to indicate the use of persuasion to convince the readers we should change our lives for the betterment and be healthier in the produce we decide to purchase. His goal is to make us question the things we do to make his point. The author contributes a list of seven things we can do to obtain pleasure from our food. The article being in a first person point of view shows his influence that he wants us to acquire. For instance, he says,
Consumption of fruits and vegetables at or over the recommended five servings per day is associated with a decreased risk of heart attack and stroke. Greater consumption of fruits is also associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes.

Fruit and vegetables provide vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre and many phytonutrients (nutrients naturally present in plants) that help your body stay healthy. Since fruit and vegetables are low in kilojoules (energy) relative to many other foods, including them every day can help prevent excessive weight gain. They may also help protect against chronic diseases such as heart
The story of this passage is intriguing because the author personality is bold and daring, always ready for an adventure. Personally, I think the author has described the story in a way that she always wanted to have tough physical and mental challenge such as playing football and baseball with boys to compete against them. Another scene is the snowball incident, where she was chased by the stranger block by block also shows despite the possible consequences of her actions she still threw snowballs at the passing cars.
According to Donald D. Hensrud of the Mayo Clinic on Healthy Weight, “Eating well – choosing a plant-based diet, which emphasizes vegetables, fruits and whole grains – also will reduce your risks of some of our nation’s biggest killers and related conditions. Many cancers, heart disease and high blood pressure, among other conditions, are linked to diet, most notably to diets high in fat and saturated fat. Even without weight loss, adopting a healthier eating style can be beneficial. (Hensrud 49)”
