Examples Of Ethos Pathos Logos

Throughout his speech in Act 3, Mark Antony uses Pathos, Ethos, and Logos to subtly convince the commoners to turn against the conspirators. He uses Ethos, or the ethical appeal, many times throughout the speech, most notably in his first line; “Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears!” He is attempting to make himself seem more honorable from the very beginning of his speech. Throughout the rest of the speech, he constantly questions Brutus’s Ethos. Brutus, who was believed to be honorable, had not been questioned on what he said until Mark Antony began to contrast his word to Caesar’s.

As Meredith Grey, my fictional idol from Grey’s anatomy would say, “Progress looks like a bunch of failures”. A main focus of this semester was learning our audience, and convincing people of things through writing and or visuals using ethos pathos and or logos. I did not see the connections of any of my papers from the first to second semester at first. But my memoir from the first semester and my campaign project from this semester both use pathos, emotion. For me it was easiest to write about the pathos, but the ethos and logos part was out of my reach. I left some of my comfort writing the campaign paper using all 3 and it gave me a better understanding as a writer to keep in mind who am I talking to, what message am I trying to get across

In the beginning of the book, Coates, as a little kid and his big brother, Big Bill gets into an alteration with the Murphy Homes (a gang), but Coates is not a fighter; he avoids fights and does not like to feel angry. Coates does not throw one single punch and tries to run away from the fight. Instead, he gets struck by one of them; however, he manages to escape the scene. Using the rhetorical analyisis, Coates used logos and pathos in this scene. Logos is facts and statistics, but also, knowledge or logic.

Music in Your Ears. In the articles, “Music is Worthless,” written by Steve Lawson and “Nashville Skyline: Searching for the Heart of Country” written by Chet Flippo, both authors use the rhetorical tools: ethos, pathos, and logos. In “Music is Worthless,” Lawson comes across many aspects on what music is really worth and how it is valued, while in “Nashville Skyline: Searching for the Heart of Country,” Flippo tries to find where country music was lost and where it still can be found. Although, music can be perceived in many ways, Lawson and Flippo use the rhetorical tools ethos, pathos, and logos to help the reader understand their reasoning on certain music.

In Greek Pathos is said to mean suffering or experience which gives the emotional appeal to the reader. With Pathos you can use vivid or emotional language , and sensory details to give imagery and emotionally appeal the reader. Pathos can be used to change the audience opinion to whatever the author wants in the argument. The narrator grew up in poverty. The narrator should feel even more at home at Marys’ when she is serving Cabbage soup because that’s how he grew up. He knows she is short on money just like he is. He feels bad that he’s not doing his part and helping out with the money. This represents all the turmoil and hard times that have happened. Somewhere in chapter 21 they talk about rotting cabbage and this represents how he grew up eating cabbage; his past, and now he has rotting cabbage; his future. This shows how the past is fading and things are changing.

Pathos is used in rhetoric writings because it allows the speaker to make a personal and emotional connection with the reader. Once an emotional connection is made, the speaker has a higher potential in gaining the support of the audience. The term logos means it is an appeal to logic. Logos is used in rhetoric because it enables the speaker to persuade its audience by connecting to their logic, or intellects. The term ethos is a form of persuasion that appeals to ethics and the credibility of the speaker. Ethos is used in rhetoric because it is a way of gaining the audience's trust in the speaker. This article shows great details of how bad writing can be fixed. The article begins by showing logos of what high school and college students are struggling with the most. The reason is that it states key examples of what the students at New Dorp high school aren’t good at. The article shows a lot of opinion from teachers by telling their ways of fixing the students. It is also repetitive by saying that the main reason the kids are not good writers is because they are lazy. In certain ways, this article is using pathos by the teachers. I do think the writer could have used more proven facts.

The first segment is an intro. at first, I tell the home secretary about the problem (abuse of law), I do that by telling them what I have witnessed, and what I have seen by going from factory to factory, the source (me) is reliable because I have an authority over the situation, this is because I am an inspector, this means that the first segment uses ethos as a form of appeal, because ethos is the use of authority as reliability. The next two segments are used to give out facts, this information is given to show consequences that the problem could unfold. This form of appeal is heavily relying on logos.

The strengths I feel in my editorial essay is using logos as a strategy to persuade my audience why we should give food to those who need it. In the first two paragraphs, I started out with statistics. In the first paragraph, “165 billion pounds of food is wasted every year” in the United States is what the first sentence was. That was my hook.

The Greek philosopher Aristotle believed that effective speakers use three kinds of appeals to make their arguments convincing; logos, the speaker's actual message, ethos, the credibility of the speaker, and pathos, or the emotional appeal the speaker arises in his or her audience. These rhetorical appeals are present in many aspects of everyday life, including websites. The least effective text is “Handwriting Matters; Cursive Doesn’t” by Kate Gladstone. In the text the method of appeal that is used most effectively in the text is logos. Kate Gladstone used logos the most throughout the passage and she didn’t use ethos and pathos as much. The three methods of appeal weren’t balanced throughout the passage which made her text less effective. A piece of evidence that demonstrates this is found towards the middle of the passage, “Adults increasingly abandon cursive. What is the most important message in the movie? From my point of view the memories we have, form an important part of us our life without memories feels like an empty life, have memories let us grow as a humans and as a persons. Furthermore if we decide to erase some memories we also erase the learning who come whit the memories, in the way I see life every little thing than happens to us have his importance for the rest of our days, the movie raises the idea if the humanity have the capacity to erase some memories, like a an amnesia the some thoughts we don’t want.

The people in my life are either good, or bad. I didn’t realize this until their true colors are put in perspective. Once this is done I don’t see them how I used to see them. I see them as a new person. They’re either a person who puts people down or someone who helps people who are down. If I’m being honest, I didn’t think about the scars my so called friends were leaving on other people…... until they were left on me.

The first one is about ethos. In my opinion, I found the very obviously example of ethos is from my mother. My mother is a doctor, and I think she has the power to tell her patients what is the right thing that they can do what they can not do because the doctor advises for patient is professional so that The patient must according to the rules by doctor.
