Perseverance through positivity
Nobody is immune to conflict in their life. Conflict is defined as a struggle or a clash between opposing forces. People can deal with conflict mentally and physically. There is conflict faced in the passages “Anne Frank The Diary of a Young Girl” by Anne Frank, Anne has to go into hiding with her family and friends while they are being persecuted in Germany and “Dear Miss Breed” by Joanne Oppenheim, the correspondence between the librarian Clara Breed and young Japanese Americans during World War ll. The article “Using Positive Reinforcement to Motivate others”, explains how positivity motivates others in a business environment, “One of the most overlooked and simple ways to engage employees is by expressing honest, sincere appreciation for their efforts. By expressing appreciation for the positive other people contribute, you will benefit as much as they will” (Carnegie). The way a person treats others is a direct indication of what they think of them. Many people do not realize this and the people around them become disengaged and often stressed that they do not think highly of them. Simple ways to motivate others include always staying positive, identifying a trait that is respected in an individual, offering a sincere strength comment, and explain to them a likeable quality that they are doing. Motivation does not have to be given by an employer or colleague to be important, it can have an impact when given by someone small such as Anne Frank. Anne Frank wrote in her diary, “It's more like being on vacation in some strange pension. Kind of an odd way to look at life in hiding, but that's how things are. The Annex is an ideal place to hide in. It may be damp and lopsided, but there's probably not a more comfortable hiding place in all of Amsterdam. No, in all of Holland”. As Anne’s family was disheartened at the fact that they had to disappear till the war was over. Anne, along with her father, soon convinced everyone that they were very fortunate by staying assertive. Another example of a young girl motivating others by staying optimistic is found in the book Dear Miss Breed, “This trip has made me realize the wonderful work of nature. Her delicate work in shaping the stone mountains, the beautiful coloring of the surroundings—it seemed as if I was looking at the picture or a painting of a genius” (Ogawa). Louise Ogawa knew that her circumstances while in the Japanese
In the novel Prisoner B-3087 by: Alan Gratz, the author uses conflict to develop the theme. Prisoner B-3087 is a book about a Jewish boy named Yanek that lived during World War II and the Holocaust. Yanek was unfortionally, taken by the Nazi’s to a concentration camp for six years. Between 10 concentration camps Yanek finally got freed from the camps and the American soldiers reached him and gave him food, water, clothing and shelter. Yanek then, found a family to stay with and lived on with his life. In the book the author uses conflict to develop the theme sometimes you have to conform to survive by the quote “To suffer quietly hurt only you. Suffer loudly, violently, angrily- to fight back- was to bring hurt and pain and death to others” (112). This quote proves how the author uses conflict to develop the theme
Whether we like it or not, conflict is a part of everyday lives. It can happen to anyone, from your friends to your family.
Conflict is inevitable in any personal relationship or among members of any group. While we encounter many types of conflict in our lifetime, we often look for ways to avoid conflict. So, why do we run away from dealing with our conflict? It is often because many of us fear the conflict will escalate into a situation we will not be able to sustain. “As conflicts escalate, they go through certain incremental transformations. Although these transformations occur separately on each side, they affect the conflict as a whole because they are usually mirrored by the other side. As a result of these transformations, the conflict is intensified in ways that are sometimes exceedingly difficult to undo” (Pruitt, and Kim 89). We

He's a big man… And you . . . you're worse than he is. Look at WW1 and WW2 nothing was really solved till America faced the problem head on and resolved it. As this paragraph Hiding from conflict isn't a good way to deal with
“Peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict with peaceful meanings.” - Ronald Reagen. This is a quote that stands very true for Fever 1793, by Laurie Halse Anderson, and Nothing But the Truth, by AVI. In these books, characters have to overcome their own conflicts in their own ways, and whether or not it makes them change for the better.
