Field trips are used as a great tool to motivate and educate students. They are enjoyable for both students and teachers. Field trips give students the opportunity to get away from learning in the classroom and dive into learning through hand-on experiences.

There were plenty of memories in high school. Just making it to high school was a good memory. Most of them were during my freshman, sophomore, and junior years.

My best moment was when i went to the Florida Keys over Christmas break in 2015. It was a two week trip just on our way to the Keys. On our way we stopped at the Creation Museum down in Kentucky and we stayed at my grandpa’s house in Maranatha Village down in Sebring Florida. When we finally got down to the Keys i couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. The water was that beautiful blue color and there was nothing but colorful coral and crystal blue water everywhere. When we got to where we were staying it was packed. There were more campers than we could count. The campground was on it’s own little island on the highway. Factors such as practicing the language, learning the indigenous culture, and interacting with fellow members can help further invigorate amazing experiences. Moreover, a trip can become an embedded memory, with lessons and stories to tell, a brilliant diamond in a chest of recollection jewels. Going to Puerto Rico, a land doused in rich history and traditions, will spark an unforgettable journey into the mind of an aspiring adolescent: myself, Christopher Ye.

I found this field trip to be not only informative, but a fascinating insight into the Cherokee culture. Everything was so authentic and the people who were in charge of the museum and events seemed so passionate about teaching others the history of the Cherokees. Getting to see and talk to people who still uphold their native traditions and keep the culture alive was amazing. From the demonstrations of traditional games, to learning how to make pots from natural materials, I really got a sense of what it was like to live in a Cherokee village. Not only the visual aspect was inspiring, but they way they talked about their heritage and how proud they were to call themselves Cherokee was amazing. On the day of the training session, I tried to use that opportunity to glean as much information as possible from the park naturalists. I learned that some teachers do not take into consideration how much planning and preparation it takes to go on a field trip and what to do when they get there. Teachers have the responsibility to reach out to the location they want to bring their students and figure out necessities such as lunches and where to put them, locations of bathrooms, and how to use their time. Teachers should attempt to be as organized as possible because then students will have more time to maximize learning opportunities. The naturalists explained practices they have seen good teachers use such as brightly colored name tags or t-shirts to identify children, placing students into groups before getting to the park, and simply setting clear expectations for student behavior. Teachers should make students aware ahead of time that classroom rules still apply outdoors.

I turned around and at that moment I realized I was lost. Field Trips are always exciting growing up because it's a day off of school until you get lost. I always looked forward to going on field trips growing up. To me it was an opportunity to miss class but also learn new exciting things. Every year in middle school, my school went to the Los Angeles County Fair in the beginning of September. Since I was a young girl, learning was something necessary to do in order to mature into my own self. It's something us as humans do to evolve from our younger selves. From learning to talk, walk ,and read we learn many things throughout our lifetime to be the person we are today. Learning is the key to life. Learning makes us progress. Riding a bicycle was a learning experience that I might never forget it.
