As the first stage of initiation begins, the initiates learn how to shoot targets and fight. As the initiates fight amongst each other, Tris has to fight Peter. Peter carelessly punches and kicks Tris, who loses consciousness at the end of the fight. A few day after the fight, the initiates are taken on a field trip to play capture the flag, Dauntless fashion. Tris ends up climbing a Ferris wheel with Four, to find out where the other team’s flag is. On the way down Tris almost falls off the Ferris wheel, but is saved by Four when he activates the Ferris wheel and gets Tris down. As the first stage of initiation comes to an end, tension between the initiates starts to rise. In the second stage of initiation, the initiates are put under a simulation,
Tris is determined to pass initiation, but her determination and confidence wavers as she is falling behind in the training and exercises, and she was severely injured after losing her match to Peter, one of the bullies who called her a stiff and harass her of her Abnegation affiliation. However, Tris still persevere. She not only worries about herself, though, but her best friend, Christina, as well due to Christina having to hang over the chasm when she forfeit her match against Molly. As the story progresses, the initiates go on a field trip to play Capture the Flag. Tris climbs the Ferris wheel alongside Four to locate the flag of the opposing team, which eventually led to her team’s victory. After the game, Tris catches Uriah’s, a Dauntless-born
Eric Erickson and Sigmund Freud both believed there are stages in personality development with few differences. The Erickson theory is composed of eight stages that a normal human will go through from birth until death or one lifetime. Each of these stages can be related to different characters so it is easier to relate to.
Coming into this class I was a bit wary about how this class would run and what we would learn, especially once I found it was to be team led. In the past twelve weeks I have gained more insight on myself and how I react to situations in group settings, especially being in a class that is described as management and not psychology. Within this essay, I will look do describe my experiences and thoughts with my team as well as how we progressed. I will also look to describe how my class has progressed from the early stages and has transformed into a well-oiled high performing team. One of the tools I will use to show and describe the development of both my team and the class will be Wheelan’s four stages of development.
When they get up on the ferris wheel, he asks Tris how are you not scared being this high up, she says if she falls she will die but she is brave enough to risk her life for her team. At a point on the ferris wheel the two people positions switch, Tris the initiate says she wants to climb higher and the instructor says This is crazy. Then Tris says he doesn't need to follow and the instructor says he needs to, then Tris tells her instructor he can start going
The first stage of change is the precontemplation stage, in this stage the client denies they have a problem and have no intention of changing. The only reason a client in this stage may enter into treatment is because of a court order or ordered by another authority. In order to encourage the client to move to the next stage the counselor would need to raise the client’s awareness of their behavior by providing non-judgmental feedback. Raising the client’s awareness also includes educating the client on the effects of addiction so they are able to consider if they have a problem.
Tris went ahead to surprise attack the guard there. When she got closer she realized it was Peter. He wasn’t under the simulation like everyone else. She had to shoot him to get him to talk. He made her take him with her so that he wouldn’t get in trouble with Erudite and the Dauntless leaders. Halfway up Tris told Caleb and Marcus to stay with Peter, and her and her dad went up. When they got to their floor they were met with guards; they shot and killed them. Her dad went down the opposite hallway that the guards came from to draw their attention, but he was shot and killed. She got into the control room where she found Tobias, and the simulation being ran. She fought him to get the gun out of his hand, so she could talk to him and try to get him out of the simulation. After her continued efforts failed, she realized what she had to do. She gave him the gun and held her hand on his heart. She kept calling out to him. He almost shot her, but he woke up from the simulation in time. They had a short time to reunite before she realized that her brother and Marcus were surrounded by soldiers. She told Tobias to stop the simulation. He did just in time before the soldiers killed the last living member of her family. He got the data that was being used for the simulation, and they
In the story of Hector, we meet an adolescent male on the verge of graduating high school and hoping to enter college. In Hectors’ young life, he has managed to overcome several obstacles and shows a glimpse of what his future could hold. Despite the hardships Hector has had to face in life, he also has a lot of positive inspirations. With continued support and proper influences, Hector could have a bright future and could work hard to achieve his future goals.
“’Old enough to fight, old enough to vote,’” proclaimed a popular catchphrase first heard back in the second World War (Parkinson 2013). Plenty of people think that either the legal age children become adults should be lowered. Others think that it should be raised to allow for maturity to increase. The legal age should stay the same, contrary to those opinions, because of a well-designed system: gradual liberties, and, after all, the Constitution asserts that it will.
From the results we got, SRT and CRT groups showed significant differences all four phases and the total initiation time with CRT group costs 225.4ms longer than SRT. This was consistent with Sun et al study[14] which found RT, Release, Unloading and DSP phase were quite sensitive to additional processing in stimulus evaluation and response selection. Among the four phases, RT and Release phase had pretty large time consuming differences between CRT and SRT with CRT always required longer time to complete than SRT. This can be explained as the very first two parts of initiation phase worked together to figure out what kind of stepping task you will perform. However, unlike RT and Release phase, we found SRT group had longer time duration than CRT group during transition and DSP phases even though the delayed time between SRT and CRT was relatively small and so was the effect size. This indicated that at the finishing part of step initiation, stimulus evaluation of stepping task (simple or choice) might not play a major role
The termination stage can be challenging for both client and therapist. When you think about relationships that ended in your life, how would you characterize these terminations, in general? How did these affect you emotionally and/or behaviorally?
The final simulation shows a factionless person bleeding on the side of the road. The initiates must decide how they react. If they chose to stop the bleeding and get assistance, they will have passed the final stage of initiation, becoming official benevolent members.
I think it’s a period we all go through every now and then. Those few weeks, sometimes months of unmotivation, stagnation and the loss of your sense of self.
One had to swim through the thick fiery air to get to the center of the 3 stages. The aroma of body odor, and cigarette smoke broke through the air and surrounded the congregation of sweaty teenagers. The ground had unsettled baked dirt that had not been stomped on, for the songs have yet to begin. As one scanned the area dirty ragged people were everywhere just waiting for the fun to begin. A racket of amateur music and talk of excitement filled my ears with unpleasant rowdiness, and an impatient feel swept over all in the center of the stages. The angry sun peered down upon all and droplets of perspiration ran down ones forehead and filled your brows with wetness. Skin boiled under that sweltering bright light in the sky, as I felt my individual
PHASES: It is a process of a development or a part of the change in the particular cycle.
Initiation rituals is a form of a rites of passage that symbolically marks the stages in the lives of males or females that portray the alteration from childhood to adult hood. (Peoples and Bailey, Pg. 334). An individual leaves childhood and enters adult hood in many ways, these ways include obtaining your driver’s license, having your first committed relationship, and obtaining keys to your own personal house.
