Explain Two Reasons Why Children Under Age Should Have An 11: 00 Curfew

An example of this instance happened to my friend from another city last year. After her school's prom ended, she and her date were waiting on the steps of the school to be picked up by their parents. However, her city also has a 10 pm curfew, and my friend and her date ended up being punished for being out "so late." These kids were just waiting for a ride from their parents, not one in the back of a police car. If a law has not served its purpose in maintaining order within the community and making people's lives easier, then it has failed. The purpose of this curfew is to keep teens out of trouble, but it fails to acknowledge the basic fact that not all teens are looking for trouble when they are out late at night, and that many of them have extenuating circumstances requiring them to be out, such as a job. Many times, it also fails to make exceptions for teens on the streets due to situations not in their control, and instead opts to slap the same charges on any young person out after curfew no matter what. In today’s society, many people fear that if teens are out late they are participating in mischief or that they are more likely to be involved in criminal activity. I made this decision because of the majority opinion reflect, this is more of a situational aspect verses a personal one. A minor would be out at 11pm for many different reasons like, eating dinner, coming home from a friend's house, or even coming home from work. A minors curfew time should be a family's decision and should not involve the government. It should not be a law that a minor should not be allowed to drive after a certain time period. Many parents allow their kid to out until midnight or even later and they are just fine.

I disagree with this because I don't think teenagers should be forced to follow a ridged time schedule because of a curfew.

Just because they have a curfew it doesn’t mean that they aren’t going to get in trouble. It may limit the things they do. Which in turn limits the trouble they get in, but it doesn’t stop them from doing things to get them in trouble.
