I grew up in Anaheim, California dreaming about being an astronaut, a store clerk, a Powerpuff Girl, and an actress. Unfortunately, none of those dreams ever made it past a few months before I decided I wanted to do something else. When I was in high school, I was introduced into the world of theatre. Being a part of the theatre company at my high school allowed me to explore a world that allows everyone to express their creativity. If it wasn’t for my first theatre class I would’ve never found my love of theatre and film.
After high school graduation, I decided to go to community college instead of a four year school. There were two reasons for this. The first reason was community college was less expensive to take my required general education classes. If it wasn’t for grants and loans, I wouldn’t have been able to go to school. The second reason was that it gave me the chance to take some courses in my desired major (film) in order to see if it was truly the career direction I wanted to follow.
During those three years at Orange Coast College, I was on the dean’s list almost every semester I was there and was actively involved with two honor societies. I was

Unfortunately, I did not get accepted into the film program. I realized that there was another path that I could choose. After doing some research into all the different majors of film and theater, I finally found one that suited me the best... a major in theatre arts. With this major I found that I’m able to take a more specific path of learning. Before I’m able to switch my major, I have to take classes that I would have not been able to before. For example, I am taking design classes which are not required classes as a film production major. Taking these additional classes, will enable me to use the assignments in order to build my
There are multiple reasons why someone may want to go to college. Whether it’s to pursue their dreams or prove people wrong. I want to go to college because I want to pursue my dream of majoring in mathematics, math is a passion of mine. I can not say fully what I want to do with my life or when I will find out, but I do know that math is something I want to continue studying. Being Hispanic does not give me a good advantage when it comes to colleges, I have to make sure my voice is heard. What is even more complicated is being a first generation college student, my family really can not help because my parents did not go to college. I have to set the example for my younger brother because he is also going to be a first generation college student
Theater arts was not a personal preference, in fact, it was a decision made at the minute. From the very first day of class, I was challenged to come out of my comfort zone. In
Noted authors, Brandon Chambers, is quoted saying, “If you are going to fear anything fear success. Think about what you are doing and when you succeed what life you will have.” There are several different reasons why I could stay home, work and not go to college; I could go to work every day and make more money for the house, it’s easier, and I would be less stressed. Now, on the other hand there are many reasons why I should go to school; such as further my education, make my family proud, and make myself proud. I am attending college for several different reasons. One reason is to further my education. I hate feeling like I don’t know something, I like being the person everyone comes to for information. Also, because I want to
College comes at you quicker than you could imagine. And with being a junior in high school, college is all you think of. Sometimes the more you think about what you want to do the more stressful it can get. But you have to keep an idea of what career you'll want to pursue. East Tennessee State, Coastal Carolina, and the University of South Carolina offer many programs that would lead you to want to attend their university.
After four years of high school, there is only one goal I have in mind. That goal is to attend college. This is the next big step in my life. All the late nights I stayed up to complete school assignment was for this moment. All my hard work was has lead me to this point in life. College will open a whole new to me. A world where I can meet new people while working to improve my future. Why do I want to attend college though? Well I have three specific reasons for this decision.
The reason why I am I college is so I can become a counselor. My dream is to help people because it is something that I am good at. In high school I ran for vice president of my senior class so I can help our senior year be the best (I won of course). I listened to what everyone wanted to do that year and my student government and I made some of it happened. I was also a part of two teams in high school, the soccer team and the swimming team. Being part of of these teams I would help my teammates during our games and meet; couching them in what they are doing right and wrong. After high school I started working in a retail store, footlocker as a cashier and till this day I still have my job. As a cashier we get many complaints in the day by our customer when they feel like they did not get the proper customer service or when the merchandise is unwanted or destroyed. My job is to listened to the customer and make sure they are satisfied with how they got treated in the store. Since I have been in my job for so long, I also help the new people that come in by training them. Doing all of the things made me
I decided to go to college because I believe that education is an important part of life and that being educated has many advantages. Like many, one of the biggest reasons for deciding to attend college is to create a better future for myself. Being a first-generation college student my parents have implanted on me the importance of college education, as it is something they wish they would have done themselves. As the first of four children to go to college, I feel that it is my responsibility to be a good example to my younger siblings, and show them that it is important to have goals in life and to better yourself as a person through education. I understand that an university education may not be for everyone, but it felt like the right choice for me. What I hope to get out of college is a life-changing experience, not only to get a better education, but to find something I am truly passionate about. I think it is important when choosing a career or a major to find something your heart truly wants and not just a career that will make you able to afford expensive things. I also hope that somewhere along the path to graduation and adulthood, I find myself as a person and develop ideas, opinions, and to be able to approach the world with an
“Knowledge Is Power” one of Sir Francis Bacon famous quotes, those three words says it all. I’ve been hungry and excited for
After high school students have the opportunity to attend a college. Today, it seems like fewer people go to college. People will say “It’s too expensive or I don’t have the time” however that's just not the case, in my opinion, college is worth it because if someone is seeking a long-term job with security, mobility, and pay increase must attend college. Having the degree is better than not having one at all.
There might be a time where people ask you, “why are you in college” or “why to decide to go to college.” People might reply by saying that they want a degree, that they want a higher paying job, or they need that for a future career that they are pursuing. Those responses are the most typical reason of why people go to college. Sure you can say that having a degree means that a person can get a better job with better pay rather than working in the manual labor fields with minimum pay. A college degree is the fundamental stepping stone to the future, it lays the foundation of where to start. College is everything to me; I’m in college so I’m able to unlock more potential in myself, to be able to make my mother proud with everything that she has done and hopefully becoming the first.
Is college really worth it, is a question that many people are asking themselves when thinking about their future. College is very expensive, though is worth it because there are many benefits to getting a college education. Most people who are against college do not understand what it can do for the next generation. College is very much worth it for the education, for the experience and also for the money.
For the past three years, I have developed an acting skill through dedication and perseverance. Although I am not a theatre major, acting and theatre is where I found my best friends and who I
Personal Statement I would like to study Acting and the Theatrical Arts because I am very passionate about musical theatre, and have always wanted to play different roles, and make people happy and joyous through my performances. I want to pursue acting as a career because it has always been and interest of mine, and I have done a lot in school and my past to work towards finding a profession in Theatre. The course in general interests me because it includes everything that a person needs to know to improve their work as an actor, and because it will challenge me, and furthers me as an actress. The course does not only dwell on acting and performance, but also theatre itself, performances, dramatic texts, performance venues, and so on. I find this part very intriguing, due to the course not only focusing on the physicality of acting, but also
At the age of fourteen, I was then granted the good fortune to study at Interlochen Arts Academy the traditional techniques of acting and performance. Throughout my time studying at Interlochen, I enjoyed growing as an actor but I always felt that there was something missing. I was lacking the joy of creation. It was at Interlochen that I discovered my passion lied in performance art and in the creation of experimental styled theatre.
Ever since I was a little kid I was always in love with the arts. I would always draw, color, and paint something. My favorite class in elementary class was art and I wanted to be an artist at that time.. As time went by I changed my mind after falling in love with the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. I wanted to be in a movie just like that. I kept dreaming of becoming an actor but I didn’t do anything. I was too shy to ever join the drama club in 5th grade and middle school. When high school came along I decided to put my shyness to the side and take the drama class because if I wanted to be an actor I had to take action.
