Jhanine Senior
Fall 2016 applicant
Why I want to attend the New Jersey Institute of Technology
I am Jhanine Senior. My family and I are two year migrants from Jamaica. Our American benefactor, my grandmother, is a forty year US resident and pre-eminent house keeper and child care giver. After a month assisting grandmother, I moved from a house worker and baby sitter to a Receptionist at a Management Consulting firm. The US immigration appointment dates are supreme; therefore, I left Moneague College in the mid spring semester for my new life in America with my highly coveted green card, social security number, a new Madison - New Jersey address. Getting enrolled in the County College of Morris (CCM) was my first American developmental move. I was determined for my re -start in America to bring success – an education, a business, and a life of social service.

At work I learned the true value of a first class education and the need to select the right institution for my first degree. I want to attend the New Jersey Institute of Technology because it is reputed to be one of the best universities in New Jersey. My ambition is to be a Financial Analyst, and I believe the New Jersey Institute of Technology is the best place to acquire the knowledge I need for a successful start in that career. While I am confident that I will successfully complete my Associate Degree in Business Administration at the County College of Morris, a Bachelor’s Degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology will increase my earning power by many folds over my career. After this, I will pursue my Master's in Business Administration at Columbia University in New
There are multiple reasons why someone may want to go to college. Whether it’s to pursue their dreams or prove people wrong. I want to go to college because I want to pursue my dream of majoring in mathematics, math is a passion of mine. I can not say fully what I want to do with my life or when I will find out, but I do know that math is something I want to continue studying. Being Hispanic does not give me a good advantage when it comes to colleges, I have to make sure my voice is heard. What is even more complicated is being a first generation college student, my family really can not help because my parents did not go to college. I have to set the example for my younger brother because he is also going to be a first generation college student
Noted authors, Brandon Chambers, is quoted saying, “If you are going to fear anything fear success. Think about what you are doing and when you succeed what life you will have.” There are several different reasons why I could stay home, work and not go to college; I could go to work every day and make more money for the house, it’s easier, and I would be less stressed. Now, on the other hand there are many reasons why I should go to school; such as further my education, make my family proud, and make myself proud. I am attending college for several different reasons. One reason is to further my education. I hate feeling like I don’t know something, I like being the person everyone comes to for information. Also, because I want to
Six years after graduating High School, I have finally decided to pursue a college education. Three, fairly common, factors played in to my decision to go back to school: learning new things, building confidence in myself and pursuing my desired career. I understand that graduating college is a difficult task, which is why I must make a plan for my success and stick to it. I must also rely on my personal strengths and my motivation to guide me through the tough times that I am sure to experience on my road to success to get my degree in Criminal Justice. I have always been a person who is eager to learn new things.
Even at a young age, people begin to ask you what you want to be when you grow up. Children’s answers will range anywhere from ballerina, to firefighter, to President of the United States. However, as you get older, the question becomes more serious. As a high schooler, you feel as if you need to know exactly where you will end up thirty years into the future. Since senior year began, I have tried my best to understand my strengths and goals in life so that I can prepare for my future.
As a transfer student at Texas A&M, I demonstrate what determination and hard work stands for through staying self-motivated to attend my dream school. Prior to the start of my education, my family and I moved to this country in hopes of escaping crime and violence, seeking opportunities and freedom. I was able to undertake my own opportunities and enrolled at a community college while also working a full time job in an effort to pursue my dream of attending Mays Business School. Every year, thousands of students apply to Mays; however, Texas A&M only accepts 100 candidates to attend their business school. Because of this transfer process, I have become a motivated, persistent and dynamic individual who strives for success.
Media surrounds us, from the graphic design on our morning cellophane coffee cups, to the carefully designed spreads in the magazines we religiously read. The world of Media and Film is beautifully complex, and something which I strongly want to be involved with. I have always immersed myself in the world of Media, and have only ever felt truly satisfied when I’ve been involved in broadening my knowledge and understanding of the industry.
Recently, after I decided to join the military I decided it was time to begin attending school again. Many reasons influenced my decision. The biggest reason I could come up with is the fact that while utilizing tuition assistance I do not entail any financial obligations as long as I receive a passing grade in all my courses. Being in the military has also made me realize the importance of achieving a higher level of education. In order to be set apart among your peers you need to prove you are attempting to better yourself at every turn. Education is a great way to prove that. Not only that, education is one thing no one can ever take away from you. I'm applying to Colorado Christian University to see what amount of transfer credits I will
The Rural Alaska Honors Institute (RAHI) is a very helpful program for me to become involved in, especially since I plan on going to college after high school to better my education and to shape my future. Since RAHI is at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), and I am attending UAF in the fall this year, majoring in Geoscience, it will help me get the feel of college and give me the experience I need. This program is something that interests me a lot and I will get to meet new people who I might be going to college with.
I chose to attend Moorpark because the tuition is more affordable for the first two years rather than a 4-year college. I also like the variety of classes the college offers and its clean campus. I decided to take this particular class because I heard a lot of good comments about this course. This is my first year at Moorpark and I have not taken other college classes. It is important for me to attend college because I believe that education is one of the most valuable privileges one can have, and I have a desire to learn and to fulfill my potential. As a member of this class, I can offer many ideas and opinions. This semester, I am looking forward to improving my writing skills. I expect this course to involve a lot of reading, writing, and
I graduated college in 2012 and have since adopted the city of Rochester as my home. My partner and I committed ourselves to this community last year when we bought a home downtown. I am intent on picking a career that is worth dedicating my life to and that will benefit others in my new community. The discipline in which I earned my Bachelor’s degree leads to a shallow career path that wouldn't benefit others in any fundamental way. I am only now redirecting my career and volunteering as a literacy tutor has been a rewarding first step. I became a tutor because of an awareness I gained while learning Italian as a second language and participating in a language immersion study abroad program where I lived and worked in Italy for six weeks and
I am writing to you because I want you to understand why I decided to attend college, why I choose the goals I chose, and why college will make me a successful person. College is a transition that everyone needs especially me. It prepares you for all the money and skills you are going to obtain after a successful 4 yrs. College also lets you have one last moment of childhood before the serious workaholic adult kicks out the child. I have decided to attend college because I need it to have a successful, happy and wealthy future. All the great leaders in science, business, and politics went to college because they knew more education means more money.
Looking at college make me want to jump around and be all happy because I will get out of high school and I get to live by myself. I know I won’t be happy when the time comes and I have to pay my loans and go to school and learn in a more rigorous way. Will I be able to choose what schools are right for me and know what kind of school it is or will I have to go to college with no knowledge of the college that I chose. Instead of going in blind I researched the top colleges that I would want to go to at the end of high school.
Making big life decisions is something that everyone has to go through. Senior year, one must decide what they are doing after high school, whether it be the military, college, or going straight into the workforce. Personally, I am going to choose to continue my education and go to college. Deciding to go to college brings upon many other decisions like what type of college, where the college is located, what major to study, etc. Senior year is a great time for students to do research and start to think about their future life plans. Baldwin Wallace and The University of Findlay are similar in size and major, but due to the location difference, I am leaning towards Baldwin Wallace.
From the young age of twelve, I’ve watched my three older siblings leave for college one by one. First my sister, Kassie, moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. A year later my brother, B.J., moved to Des Moines, Iowa and attended DMACC. A few years later, my other sister, Heather, moved to Dubuque, Iowa and attended the University of Dubuque for one semester then transferred to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. All of my siblings went to college, and I would follow suit and also attend college.
As a young mother my main goal has always being to build a future for both me and my son. My main concerned is to offer my son Mateo both social and economical stability. As a daughter of parents who didn 't attend college my duty is not to only make my son proud but most importantly both my parents. A career in Rutgers will not only help me achieve my personal goals but most importantly; I will be investing in my family’s future. It is my obligation to create a new path for the generation after me. I was born in Barranquilla Colombia, a country where the opportunities to succeed are scattered. My parents decided to move to the United States to give me and sisters a better future and for that I owned it to myself to do what I came to this country for, succeed. Moreover, now the I’m a mother I have to be my sons prime example and show him the importance of obtaining higher education. Rutgers university to me signifies a step closer to achieving my main career goal which is becoming a manger at a private practice in the healthcare field. Becoming a student at Rutgers also means that many of my sacrifices have been all worth it and they are finally paying off. Working towards a my main career goal has been a long a road full of stepping stones and sacrifices.
