In the science of Psychology, observations and inferences are equally important. Observation is the act of perceiving, of noticing, of watching something closely. On the other hand, inference is looking at the evidence in front of you and making a deduction of your own based on what you see. When somebody observes something or someone they just state the facts as they appear before their eyes, whereas in inference they reach a conclusion by assuming or deducting things as well. For example, an observation would be “

Teens can regain trust with their parents through their actions, because statements are not believable since they are easier said than done. For example, teens can start improving their grades, learn from their mistakes, communicating with their parents more about what's going on, and tell the truth when asked a question.
The first hint offered by Lora Schwacke is that every parent who wants to have a meaningful communication with their teenager needs to be genuine when
One of the many reasons I think The Watcher is an excellent addition to a classroom collection is the versatile ways in which it could be incorporated into a lesson. Topics covered in the book touch on why we study chimpanzees, habitats, endangered species, and animal advocacy, all of which would be great subjects for study. In incorporating this into a lesson plan, however, personally I would choose to use this book during a lesson on endangered species. An important concept we see presented in Janes story is that she immersed herself into the chimpanzee's natural habitat without interfering or destroying their home. Her actions are an important lesson in conservation and in addition to this book, the students could read additional stories
I was asked to read a file of a client to understand her situation and help her locate court ordered services. The client is a mother of two children, a seven-year-old girl, and a ten-year-old boy. The children were removed from their household due to negligence and emotional abuse. DCFS was contacted by a neighbor that reported child neglect. She heard the eleven-year-old child talk to other children about his mother “being drunk” and “passing out”. The neighbor also reported that some days the children will not go to school because the mother is hungover and tired. DCFS made an unannounced visit to the home. The children were not present, the mother allowed the social worker to come into the household. The social worker observed several big

The goal of this exploratory research was to uncover students’ idea of productivity. I wanted to have a better understanding of what my students thought was a good use or a bad use of their time. To better understand my students, I held discussions, administered surveys, conducted interviews, and recorded personal observations. Both Lancaster (2009) and Betz & Kayser (2017) conducted research that mainly looked at students’ opinions on their day-to-day school lives. Betz and Kayser’s (2017) research emphasized the lack of children input in a research setting and how important it is to gain their perspective. However, collecting the children’s perspective is not to then compare it with the responses of adults; it is solely to have the perspective

For my social observation project I’ve chosen to study life at Don Carter lanes located here in the city of Rockford. The main focus of my study is to observer the social norms as defined in Sociology: a brief introduction, by Richard T. Schaefer, a norm is “an established standard of behavior maintained by a society.” I’ll also be observing the informal norms as well. Informal norm is “a norm that is generally understood but not precisely recorded.” I’ll be studying the interactions people have with one another while having fun and enjoyment at Don Carter lanes.
Two basic examples I have provided in past lectures. 1) After completing the daily observation mission we were heading back to the city of Pristina in Kosovo. We noticed a very nice hillside house smoking and stopped to observe. Two paramilitary serbians ran from the property with two large cans as the house became engulfed in flames. They entered their vehicles and left the area. Our observation was two paramilitary soldiers burned down the albanian land owners property. The russian report was two serbian officers ran to the house to help any victoms, was unable to extinguixh the fire with limited water supply, called for assitance and left the area to respond elswhere. The second example that bothers me to this day was an event involving
During my first hour of observation, I noticed that the teacher was basically observing the student doing their own separate lessons. First, she would ask them to get the lesson they have been working on for the last two weeks or so, then she would walk around to see what they were doing but did not ask the students any questions. Most of the times the students were sitting on the floor doing their lessons, she would sit next to them and observed one on one how they were doing the lesson, without asking any questions. After a few minutes of just observing the student, the teacher asked the student a few questions about the lesson. When I asked her the types of formative assessment techniques she uses with the students, she told me “This
In my study I found that students had the most opportunity for generative discourse during the hands-on portion of the investigation. I attribute this increased engagement to:
