Fashion Design : Design, Art, Movement, And Design

Satisfactory Essays

I foresee myself being a creative, innovative fashion designer, who is a force to be reckoned with.
Fashion, to many, is just some trendy pieces of clothing. But the way I see fashion, it’s so much more. Fashion is design, art, movement, and architecture. It’s the only way we express who we are and who we want to be without words.
I love the design aspect of fashion. The whole creative process of inspiration from a photo or a feeling. Just one element can spark a million different ideas about a million different effects that somehow all still seem to correlate to create one final piece or one collection.
I have a very eclectic aesthetic. It’s a very bold, impactful style, with a strong vision and willing to take risks in what I design. I want to make exclusive luxury items that are elegant and opulent but have a dark, sinister side. Being Influenced by designers like Olivier Rousteing, Elie Saab and Alexander McQueen. For my final major project, I created a ‘Killer Shoe’ using a knife blade as a heel. I wanted to push the boundaries of the shoe and make an elegantly beautiful but also very strong and dangerous product. The beauty of the ball but will still cut your throat if need be. Damien Hirst was another artist that inspired my boundary pushing. One of his quotes has always stayed with me and helped me develop my skills.

“I wanted to be stopped and no one stopped me. I wanted to find out where the boundaries were. So I found out there aren’t any.” – Damien Hirst
