People have been paying money every time they've gone through a drive-through because of how much gas you waste. This has become a serious waste in the U.S. because so many citizens have been wasting their fuel in a long and slow line for five minutes; every time they go to a drive-through. Drive-Throughs have accounted for nearly seventy percent of fast food sales because of how convenient they are. For these reasons being drive-throughs should be banned from restaurants, so that people may not have to waste their time and money in a line. Even though thirty-two million gallons of gas are being wasted per year, we shouldn't get rid of them because fast-food places would go out of business.
It all started in the 1930s, when the Grand National Bank in St. Louis, Missouri placed a teller in a window next to a traffic lane to let

This makes the Ozone layer above the Earth deplete and causes to get thinner. If this keeps happening, then the ozone layer will be completely destroyed and it couldn't stop the UV rays from hurting everyone. It states from the site Sfgate, Vehicle emissions can affect the environment in several ways. Cars emit greenhouse gasses, such as carbon dioxide, which contribute to global warming. This means when anyone goes to a drive through and doesn't turn off the car, help destroy the ozone layer even more.
If we get rid of drive-throughs in restaurants they would go out of business. That would mean that fifty thousand families would go out of business. Also, if this happens then a lot of people would lose their jobs and wouldn't be able to provide for themselves or their families. With this happening, parents won't be able to afford to have their child go to a school to better themselves in life. Then the economy starts to go down because aren't smart enough to do these complex jobs. That’s why we should keep drive-throughs instead of destroying
America is known as the fattest country in the world. Is fast food the culprit? According to the article, "F as in Fat 2005," America's obesity rate in 2005 was a whopping 60%. Many people believe that this is due to the increasing popularity in fast food. It is much easier to go through a drive through and pick up a meal than making the food yourself. When eating out, people are more likely to eat more than when they cook. Meals at fast food and restaurants have become popular, in America the size of each meal is significantly bigger than any other country. According to Christina Sarlch, author of “Guess How Many Calories Are In A Typical Fast Food Meal” the amount of calories in a fast food meal is a gouging 1100 calories with a drink .The average number of calories needed for a person is 2000-2500 calories . Split between 3 meals that averages out to 666.67-833.33 calories a meal. Of course not many people follow that suggested calorie intake.
Taco Bell is often seen as the inferior of the fast food restaurants. Although the chain might not be as large as your favorite Mcdonald's, or other fast food restaurants, I’ll give you some reasons why it should be your favorite and why not to despise Taco Bell. Although many people frown upon Taco Bell, there are many reasons why Taco Bell should be appreciated more. Taco Bell is beneficial to the members of society and beyond. Three of these reasons the fast food restaurant creates jobs, helps the community, and provides a cheap and quality alternative to traditional fast food restaurants.
Since the 70’s there has been a massive decline in health and a very huge increase in diseases related to processed foods, and the unhealthy eating habits due to eating all this garbage that has sadly taken over many Americans diets. Which has changed throughout the years for the worst. Our generation has the ability and determination to change such things if we have a reason for which to do it. We are the future of America and future parents and should not let these problems move on to our children’s generation. Imagine you as a parent with a child that is overweight and has high cholesterol or is diagnosed with a disease that is life threatening his life just because you let him eat anything he wanted instead of taking the time to prevent all these problems that are affecting his life with simply spending a bit more time to prepare foods this would be selfish of our part. This is what is happening throughout America some people just do not care anymore. In the article “ FDA Regulation on Fast Food” Gerald Hanks pronounced that as a preventative measure to food-borne illnesses the FDA requires fast food employees to complete a food handling course (2). This is what happens when you get when you go to these fast food places food borne illnesses like obesity and heart disease. That come from these processed
Would you like to have no decisions on the healthiness of your food, and being able to only eat fast food, fried foods, etc. Most people would say no and rightfully so, people should be able to have choices on the foods they want to eat whether it’s healthy, unhealthy, fast food, farm grown, we shouldn’t have only unhealthy foods for our choices of what we eat. In the film Food Inc. directed by Robert Kenner there is a part in the movie that talks about the food choices of consumers. A point that was talked about for a decent amount of time in this part was how healthier foods are more expensive than fast food. This stood out to me because it’s true it cost more to eat healthy than it does to just go through a drive through. This is outrageous it should be the opposite, we should have to spend more for fast food than healthy foods. While at most fast food places there are ways you can eat healthy food but it is still more expensive than just buying a cheeseburger or chicken nuggets. During this part of the film a family was talking and saying that they have to choose whether to eat healthier food or get there father/husbands medicine so he could work. A family has to choose between those to things and that is not fair to anyone that has to make that decision. The family wanted to have better food and to not always be eating fast food meals but they don’t really have a choice and that is heartbreaking to see.
Do you ever think about what you eat when you go to eat some fast-food? These fast-food restaurants have taken over the world. In “McJobs,” By Eric Schlosser, states that, “All along the interstate, fast-food restaurants and chain stores started to open. Family-owned historic businesses downtown closed. And Martinsburg started to look just like any other sprawling American suburb.” If fast-food continues, the country of America might become a business without wilderness. It may convenient when you are out late and have no time, but is that really worth the health issues it causes? We need to stop fast
According to livinghistoryfarm, a non profit organization. The fast food industry was not popularized until the 1950s; the food was prepared and served for those who did not have time to sit down for a real meal. With the invention of the drive through order, fast food restaurants were able to sky rocket their sales and slowly become one of the most convenient restaurants in America. With such an invention, there is a big problem that the fast food industries have created over the decades. Easy access, quick, the fast food industries have contributed to the epidemic of obesity in America.
"Fast food is popular because it 's convenient, it 's cheap, and it tastes good. But the real cost of eating fast food never appears on the menu," was said by Eric Schlosser. Several people in America have become dependent on fast foods. How many of the people who eat this food actually know what is really in the food or how it was made? Others don 't think about it, because within ordering, three minutes later a customer can pull up to the window, pay, and get food. It is quick and cheap. The United States has become dependent on fast foods because they are everywhere, but the consequences of these facilities have brought health issues and closing of community restaurants.
Furthermore, to solve this problem the public is having, fast food restaurants need to put warning labels on their food. This way, the public will stop complaining about all of the issues they keep having with fast foods. If someone was to get get sick, they couldn’t get sued because the warning label would be on the food. In this case everyone are on the same page and aware of what they’re
If it’s one thing this country needs it’s another drive-thru. It’s nearly impossible for the average American to survive one whole day without the convenience of not having to set foot out of their gas-guzzling SUV to meet their basic needs. If you can’t get it at a drive-thru, it’s usually not worth getting.
Now days, you can find a fast food restaurant every time you turn a corner. According to, Sarah Muntel, the Author of “Fast Food- Is It the Enemy,” you can choose from a variety of things to eat. You can get a greasy burger, crunchy tacos, or a drink that is filled with sugar. Why should we take the time go buy and prepare a meal when there are a variety of foods all around you? That is the problem that we are facing. Fast food is extremely cheap. You can order dollar cheeseburgers, dollar sodas, and you can even make those orders supersized just with pennies. People even claim that it is cheaper to eat at a restaurant than it is to prepare a meal in your own kitchen. Most Americans now days are having overscheduled and overcommitted jobs, which means that there is no free time in their daily lives to prepare their own meals. There is not anything easier than just going through the drive thru at your favorite fast food restaurant on your way home from work, or taking your child out for a milkshake if they do well in their baseball game. The problem is, people don’t look
Our idea for this project is to observe how others react when we go through a drive thru without a car. Usually employees at a fast food place expect people who are driving in a car to come knocking on their windows. That is what's considered normal in society, hence the name, “drive thru”. By walking through the drive thru, we are breaking that social norm. However, if you are walking through a drive thru, you can easily cut the line and get your food faster. We believe that people will react in a negative way. Most people will probably have a confused or annoyed look on their face. We think that maybe people will tell us to go inside and order instead of holding up traffic at the drive thru. There is also a possibility that employees might
The issue of accessibility is very important, because without fast food being easily available for people to eat, we would not have nearly as many complications with health and obesity due to individuals over-eating foods which they should not. A study which had been done in Detroit to determine the frequency of residents going out, and dining at restaurants, and to show which of those trips were fast food establishments. Within this study it shows that, "Sixty percent of respondents reported traveling to a restaurant at least once per week, and the majority of those trips were to nearby fast food restaurants." (Eckert, Vojnovic). In this quote, it displays how many people truly dedicate the majority of their meals to fast food, only because that is the only thing which is easily accessible to them. Additionally, the availability of fast food to the consumer must be understood because in the They say I say article, "Don't blame the eater", the author similarly references the effect this has on society. The author writes, "Drive down any through frame in America, and I guarantee you'll see one of our country's more than 13,000 McDonald's restaurants. Now drive back up the block and try to find someplace to buy a grapefruit."(Zinczenko 463). Essentially, this quote means that there is such an abundance of fast food restaurants throughout America, that it is more or less the only option that individuals will have to grab a quick bite to eat on a
Over the decades, the Americans Federal Government has invested and launched a program in 1964 as a public safety net, it has turned out to be the a poor investment that wasted trillion of dollars. The Investment earned the most funds is the Health care plan that cover for most of the American by the Federal Government. It ranges around 147 billion dollars to nearly 210 billion dollars per year. Plus, the Department of the of Agriculture's center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion calculates the cost of study on Obesity is 13 million dollars more, yet the Health -related obesity costs are projected to reach $344 billion. However, the problem has not yet been solved; as the result, the obese children has tripled. Recently, in the discussion of feeding kids nationwide, one controversial issue has been whether the Government needed to spend extra money and fund to change the school lunch system or just keep the system remaining the same.
Doughnuts, who does not like them? They are the iconic American breakfast, and it ceases to amaze me how much in love people are with these delicious yet little deadly treats. It is not shocking at all that Americans will do anything for food; it is quite amusing that they will drive to a “Donut Bank” (Donut Bank 1), go through the drive-through for some doughnuts. The least they could do is park their car, get off their lazy butts and walk themselves into the Bakery to purchase the doughnut. Burn three calories before eating two-hundred. Not only are Americans using drive-through for food, but now people can go to the Bank and pick up prescriptions from pharmacies.
b. Each day, 1 in 4 Americans visits a fast food restaurant (Fast food facts).
