Where did you first here about federal agents? Most people first see a federal agent from movies. Federal agents are very different from what you see in the movies. They require education and job experience. Federal agent has many different paths CIA, NSA, DEA, and ICE they have different functions, salary, and types of education needed. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) collects and disseminates information about foreign countries and their citizens. They warn the president about international attacks that may happen. The National Security Agency (NSA) protects information and cryptology making and breaking secret codes for the transfer of information. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) they investigate the drug trafficking, drug rings, and smuggling. They usually work on the Canadian and Mexican border. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) they enforce immigration and custom laws, protect certain federal buildings, and …show more content…

College programs- Pre-law studies, legal studies, psychology, political science and government, sociology, terrorism and counter terrorism, law enforcement, intelligence analysis, law enforcement investigation and interviewing. FBI requires a bachelor’s degree and 3 years work experience. DEA requires a bachelor’s degree but you must obtain at least a 2.95 GPA. When you go to school to be a federal agent it takes 4 years of schooling, and some paths require 3 years of work experience or more. Federal agents have to undergo written oral, physical, and psychological testing. They also have 16 to 27 weeks of training. Federal agents have many different paths to take and require different education and job experiences. They earn a decent amount of money at first, but after a few years, they start to earn a lot.
