As a social work facilitator, it is important to include a wide range of skills and strategies when facilitating a group. Emphasize on effective communication skills including using summarizing and active listening skills are important. Summarizing would include paraphrasing to what a member was saying and clarifying to make sure a social work facilitator understands (Pickett Institute Curriculum, 2002). Active listening helps let the members know that the facilitator is listening through making eye contact which shows that the facilitator cares about member’s thoughts and feelings (Pickett Institute Curriculum, 2002). Other important skills to help be an effective facilitator is problem solving and appropriate decision making to help strengthen

The Organization is struggling terribly with recognition, receiving sufficient funds, and providing services to patients due to a lack of resources. The National Association of Social Workers conducted two research trips to Cuba in 2011, the first team focused on health and child welfare system and the second team focused on social services for older adults. Both groups were introduced to Cuban society and their achievements and challenges as a country, and social work in Cuba. Cuba has many great achievements, for example it “devotes almost a quarter of its gross domestic product to education and health care – nearly twice as the percentage of the United States” (Herman, Zlotnik, & Collins, 2011). While this is amazing and much needed, Cuba also has its challenges as a country. The economy in Cuba continues to weaken, due to the trade embargo with the United States but also with the fall of it’s former ally the Soviet Union. Therefore there is a shortage in housing, food, medicine, medical supplies and equipment, and other basic supplies (Herman, Zlotnik, & Collins, 2011). This becomes an issue with social workers in Cuba because The Cuban Ministry of Public Health is the largest employer of social workers, training them in health care (Herman, Zlotnik, & Collins, 2011). If there is a shortage amongst the health care system with medicine and medical supplies, how are the social workers taking care of their people. Another challenge that faces social workers in Cuba, one of the first groups who migrated out of Cuba was those who worked agricultural sectors. Therefore food rationing has been
The benefit of me being in the Social Work field is my personal experience with similar struggles. I would like to be the person I never had while going through my hardships. The resurrection of my old wounds that I have overcome would certainly be my weakness. With that being said, I am confident I could make a difference because, I have been in their shoes to a certain extent, so I can help relate to and speak from experience with those I am trying to help. There are many resources available for the people such as shelters, food banks, job training, and placement assistance. All they need is the guidance from a knowledgeable social worker who is willing to offer a helping hand to open these doors of opportunity. Working with the Boys and

This gentleman was seen for a followup in regards to his low back. He reports no real improvement in his back pain and states he is frustrated with his persistent symptoms. He apparently was seen by Dr. Felt, the rheumatologist, a couple of weeks ago. He was started on a low dose of prednisone but states this has not helped with his pain. His chief complaint is of central low back pain but he also gets some pain radiating into the right thigh. He duplicated his exercise program for me today, but actually only showed me a couple of exercises that he had been prescribed and the other ones were just general calisthenics. He currently is working in the computer shop and states sitting on a hard chair is very uncomfortable for him so he changes positions often. He has a lumbar support but is not wearing that today. He does not feel as if it is really been beneficial. He did use some Biofreeze in the past which gave him some temporary relief of symptoms. There is muscle rub on the canteen list that he can purchase on his own if he would like to continue using that. The patient had a goal of losing 3 pounds but unfortunately, has gained several pounds since his last appointment here.
When conducting a web search to determine whether the claims are relevant in the letter I believe it can be relevant in my search it shows that a Licensed Social Worker can start off making $36,262 as someone with a MSW can start off making $34,507. With the information provided find from the pay data. I do believe in this case that Mr. Boseman should pay Ms. Kate more her more money as her two male counterparts. If not she will be able to sue Mr. Boseman clinic for discrimination and violating the EPA act with given proof. Mr. Boseman should take in consideration that Ms. Kate is doing double work than the other two men who both have advanced degrees, but not the license for the position that their working in. At Least she have a actual state

As the saying goes, “Our children are our future” and who you are as a child can determine who you can be later on in life. It is important for a child to be in a safe, comfortable and loving environment during its development so that the child can have the full advantage to become the best he can be in his future. My future career as a social worker will ensure just that. I chose this profession because of my own history. Growing up, I’ve had my share of social workers in my house. I experienced them as people who helped my family during a hard time. This is a career where I can fight for people’s rights. I will also be able to protect
