Many people are very fortunate to realize very early on what their passions and interests are. Unfortunately, I have not had the same fate as some of these people, and my journey towards finding my passions has been a longer one. Figuring out my career path has been a tedious task and as I get closer to graduating and integrating myself into the workforce it is a constant battle. BA101 has been a good support in finding myself at a deeper level, and perhaps the insights provided by this class will help me figure out this dilemma of my life through the evaluation of my skills and interests. Evaluating myself through my life experiences, I have become conscious of the various skills that I posses within. These qualities have really resonated with a career path in business and so that is the path that I am taking. Dedication, perseverance, and being constant are my fortes. I am a person who has an objective and rides along with it until it is completed. I am also someone who can communicate very well with …show more content…
Ultimately as I described before I have no dead on set goal or passion about my career path, but I do have things that I excel in because I enjoy doing these things. One of these interests that I talk about is simply helping people out and working with them to solve their problems. Knowing that I was able to help somebody out, and perhaps being able to make his or her life a bit easier brings so much happiness to my self-being. Another interest that I really delve within is numbers. Numbers are a mystical puzzle to me with many outcomes, and so there is never a moment where the subject becomes dull to me. More than in any other subject throughout my educative career, math was always what I excelled in the most. These two interests have shaped and taken me into the path that I am taking now with Business and
Through reading worksheets on countless types of skills and doing activities, I was able to make decisions on which skills well defined me. For personal skills, I believe I am extremely discipline, and for that aptitude, people are easily able to trust and can depend on me. I contemplate before I act or behave in a certain way. I stay focused and can make myself stay doing a task even if something more interesting comes along due to priorities. For instance, when I do my homework, as much I want to relax and watch TV, I know I have to finish my work because it has great importance. I tend to stay focused and disciplined by setting goals on things I have to get completed, and once I accomplish the goal I treat myself with free time to do something entertaining. Another skill, I developed throughout my life so far is woodworking/carpentry, which is a technical skill. I have recently just learned this skill at a program called Girls Can Too, where many girls and I were on a process to build a boardwalk and a personal garden box. When building the boardwalk I learned how to use a variety of power tools, such as a drill or circular saw, and obtain the technical skills required by the trade industry. Similarly, building the garden box I completed various workshops and training sessions related to the design /construction of the box. Skills can become very useful and significant in
Having many values in my life, the assessment found three that stood out to me. Favorably, I am accustomed to helping others. If I see someone struggling with tasks or comprehension, I always try to help them understand. I can remember when I was a toddler how creative I was. I would often fill my days with telling my family stories and making up songs that my imagination couldn’t hold on to. Being 21 now, creativity has still been a major key factor in success. Thinking of ways to improve computer programs at work is part of the creativity. Being stable is the most important to me. Being without a job, a car, and money, are all key factors that could possibly hold me back from not having a successful career.
Anyone who knows me, knows in so few words that I could best be described as a complex or better yet, imaginative person. I am a person that is easily fascinated by all things thrilling and prove to be challenging. Growing up, I was raised with the mentality that anything you think, work hard for, and plan for, you become. So inevitably, when I got informed about this assignment, I went big with my top five career choices and pushed the desires of my heart outside of my comfort zone. In today’s society, the occupational field is getting more and more competitive because of the high demand for well-qualified and rounded individuals. Education doesn’t stop after high school because after graduation no one will babysit your choices and tell you
They were subjects that I was always passionate about because their relevance and applications were always clear to me. Two months before I came to bard, I had just passed my AP Calculus test with a 5. The grade reaffirmed that mathematics could be the path for me to take because I knew what I was doing. More importantly, I felt that I actually understood what I was being taught. The most important thing that came out of passing the AP test was the increase of my confidence level in mathematics. I knew that calculus was simply one part of my mathematics. However I wanted to know more and pursue my love and curiosity for mathematics. I wanted to study engineering and thus spoke to engineers who told me that “calculus was their easiest math class”. This was definitely a surprising answer. However, it was not a scary answer because I felt confident in my ability to understand the material. Like many of my colleagues, I had great ambitions for my college
My college major interests involve accounting, actuarial science, applied mathematics, business, computer science, economics, and statistics. I am interested in these majors because they include analyzing data, problem-solving, logic, theorizing, and quantifying many aspects of life. Being able to take advanced math courses in high school and liking the experience developed my interests. Besides various teachers, I cannot say there is anyone that made me passionate about my interests besides my own curiosity of finding out why a certain method or product becomes optimal.
When I comes to my personal self help skills during this course I did embark on a couple of difficulties and managing my son with special events, work, and personal space as well leisure. So it made me think about how we able to handle my stress from school and my stress from work, I still maintaining my home life. I found a great website called “Self Development Skills”, they give you a pot on how to manage your time effectively, while being a student at Walden University. Gives you ideas of how to manage your time, personal goal setting, values, and overall understanding of how important the person is and how things of fluids.
The most challenging areas that what I have learned in this course is to face own weaknesses and think objectively. Self-Awareness is one of fundamental skills that we need in order to express our feelings appropriately and communicate with the others successfully. The first step to strengthen Self-Awareness is to acknowledge emotions. Then the second step is pay attention to the physical reactions that are influenced by the emotions. The third step is to take a deep breath and think objectively and analyze what and why the emotions are occurring. The fourth step is to not to judge the emotions either it is good or bad but pay attentions to the others and consequences of the emotions and reactions. Self-Awareness is Zako’s weakness area and
My passion is in the medical field. Helping people is what I want to do. Not to mention, the process to uncover the mystery. That day, someone came to us with a problem. After looking over her medical history, and realizing what treatments would not work. We finally found one that would. It also did work. The patient came back, and the treatment was a huge success. When I grow up, I want to be able to see this everyday. Have someone come in with a problem and leave with a solution. Hopefully, with good grades and motivation, I can get into a good school and get a good
Until I discovered marketing. Marketing, to me, encompasses all of these passions equally while allowing me to explore a broad range of jobs and opportunities. There are so many different opportunities available in the marketing industry, but I have always been drawn to one specific job, a fashion buyer. I first discovered my interest in this job when a buyer from TJX came to talk to my Women in Business club. She explained the tasks of a buyer and how she was able to reach the position of a buyer. This job initially caught my eye because it incorporates two things I love, fashion and the fast pace speed of the market. I think one of the main qualities of being a marketing major is being able to keep up with the market and understanding how to think like the market. This skill will help you sell your products successfully and produce and sell products that are relevant and in demand. Another key aspect to marketing is learning how to predict how your advertising will effect your audience and how to advertise your products in the most efficient way possible. I think that I would be excellent in this job industry because keeping up with the trends of our ever changing society is almost adrenaline rushing for me.
The units of this career studies class has inspired me to think about a variety of topics. It has brought to light important questions asked by Sheryl Sandberg, the utility of the myers-briggs instrument, emotional intelligence, multiple intelligence, gratitude, and resiliency. It has made me think about what I want from my future.
As far as I’m concerned, I have always seen myself as a hardworking person who will constantly try to push the limits of her knowledge. This is the exact reason when reading my resume; you can see that I have had several experiences in many fields. However, one thing is constant and it has proven to be my main quality over the years: my true commitment to the development of the business I am part of. My goal has always been to produce the best possible work to contribute to the growth of the business and I consider that my ability to adapt has always been my competitive advantage when facing so many different environments.
Moreover, I want to make absolutely sure that the career I commit to is one I would enjoy. I have many varied interests such as art, biology, chemistry, history, and writing. Having so many interest does not help , when I also tend to be indecisive. I have changed career goals at least three times in the last year. Ultimately, my goal is to have a rewarding career that I am passionate about.
I am a person who has a passion for understand everything in the world. I love to be able to grasp the how and the why in many problems in math and science (and other subjects). Basically, I love to understand how the world works. By understanding these things, I am able to appreciate the complexity of human life. The two main aspirations I have are computer science, and mathematics. I am also a very academically driven person, therefore many of my challenges are involved with academics.
So what is my passion? What is it that I love doing? How is it reflected in my work, daily life and life’s journey?
It is often said the best career strategy is to find those areas one has natural abilities for that also have significant demand in the market. I'd like to add the passion plays a very critical role in the success of any vocation or avocational endeavor; passion is the fuel of achievement. Throughout my experiences earning my undergraduate degree, the core skills necessary to excel at
