Scientists Identify First Swimming Dinosaur

In my journal article, the author talks about the Spinosaurus, the largest dinosaur to be found. The Spinosaurus is believed by scientists to be around 50 feet long. This is 9 feet longer than the largest Tyrannosaurus Rex recorded! The body shape of the Spinosaurus tells scientists that it would be and aquatic dinosaur, also that the dinosaur would have had trouble walking on land. This is amazing for a creature of this size! In this article scientists are in one of the richest fossil sites in the world, the Sahara desert. They discovered one of the largest known predators to ever walk the earth, and scientists believe the dinosaur was also a good swimmer. This dinosaur
Triceratops is one of the most famous dinosaurs, instantly recognized by its bony frill and three horns. It is located __________ in the Earth Sciences Museum and lived approximately 68 million years ago in the late Cretaceous. It is a common specimen to find throughout North America.
While the author of the article believes that Brachiosaurus were aquatic animals, the professor disagrees with this statement. The professor points out that in spite of the fact that some species of dinosaur would spend a great deal of time in water, there was no possible that Brachiosaurus were aquatic ones. To strengthen her point, the professor provides sufficient evidence respectively to the points made in the article.
Another important piece of evidence was fossil distribution. Fossils of many different species were found on multiple continents yet these species fossils showed no evidence that they could swim across the extensive oceans that separate the continents in present day. One of these species was Mesosaurus, a crocodile-like reptile that lived in freshwater lakes and ponds. Mesosaurus was found only in South Africa and South America and, being a coastal animal, there was no way it could swim across the large ocean that now separates the two continents. Another species was Lystrosaurus, which was only found in Antarctica, India, and South Africa. Being a land dominant species, Lystrosaurus would not be capable of crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Glossopteris,
The original discovery of the T-Rex was more than a century ago, but the unique creature has still managed to remain the main attraction in the dinosaur world. The reason stems from the creature’s mysterious
The researchers have discovered dinosaur fossils 10 years ago. It belongs to “Judith,” a spiky headed ancestor triceratops, which trudged the American north-west over 65 million years ago.
Imagine dinosaurs roaming the Earth minding their own business. Imagine them looking up to see a fiery, red ball of death. Imagine realizing that the blazing ball is an asteroid. Imagine it hitting the ground and nothing can be seen. The dinosaurs didn’t have to imagine that an asteroid was propelling down at them. They experienced it. Scientists have studied and calculated everything to know about the asteroid, the proof that it happened, what happened at the first impact, what resulted after the impact, and the evidence of how life of the dinosaurs changed before and after the colossal collision that eradicated the dinosaurs. The preponderance of evidence leaves little to no doubt that the dinosaurs went extinct due to an enormous
The Basilosaurus isis was a large marine mammal that lived around 38 million years ago in the Eocene era (Fahlke, 2012). Due to its enormous size, about 16 meters or 48 feet, this animal was able to prey on other large animals, specifically one closely related to it, the Dorudon atrox (Fahlke, 2012). Evidence of this was found by the analysis of Basilosaurus spp. teeth and comparing them with the bite marks found on D. atrox skulls (Snively et al., 2015). From these tooth marks, it can also be shown how the Basilosaurus spp. preyed upon the D. atrox (Fahlke, 2012). It most likely attacked from the left side of the D. atrox and bit down on its head multiple times, crushing its skull, or drowned the animal before eating it (Fahlke, 2012). The carcuses of D. atrox have also been found inside of the stomach of Basilosaurus spp. remains (Fahlke et al., 2013), again indicating that the D. atrox was a main choice of prey.
Using the European Synchrotron, Cau’s team was able to look deep inside the rock and see that the fossil was definitely the entirety of the animal’s body and that it was “the first [discovered species] with swimming adaptations in the forelimb,” according to Cau. That marks a very significant discovery for the phylogenetic tree because it helps to fill in the missing links between aquatic animals and non-aquatic animals. The Halszka reportedly had a snout like that of crocodiles, in fact, packed to the brim with teeth in similar fashion.
Palaeontologists believe that 68 million years ago there once was a lake that surrounded the area we now call Sucre. The Cretaceous park is the largest site of dinosaur tracks in the world. While at the Cretaceous park visitors can also see more than 24 life sized dinosaur replicas.
The argentinosaurus is the largest animal ever and has the largest mass for a land animal. Out of all the animals in the world the argentinosaurus has that title. This is just a little bit of information involved for this dinosaur. Argentinosaurus are some of the largest and most intriguing dinosaurs to ever live during the Mesozoic era.
Second, it has huge body. It is 14 feet tall. And it looks like a giant sloth that can’t hold on to the tree. It is the biggest mammal that existed. And it had a lot of predator as a Smilodon
e) The fossils identified include body fossils for instance bones as well as teeth. These come from the largest birds that has ever lived such as the gigantic thunder bird, along with the wolf-sized Powerful Thylacine and the large leopard-sized Alcoota Marsupial Lion. Furthermore, found at alcoota are fossils of wombats, kangaroos, crocodiles, bandicoots, possums and small
The fossils were found after a volcano eruption in north-east China, and it was almost perfectly preserved in limestone. The 125-million year-old fossil suggests many other dinosaurs and would've looked like "big, fluffy killer birds", as shown as the picture on the right.
The saltwater crocodile is huge even exceeding the Komodo Dragon size but to be exact the females attain lengths of 3 metres (10 ft) and males 3-6m (10-19.5 ft) but there have been are specimens of 10.6m (27 ft). With there big appearance the Crocodylus Porosus has large heads, a pair of ridges run from the eyes to the centre of the snout, eyes ears and nostrils located on the top of the head allowing it to see hear and smell normally.
The scene opens on a watering hole in the late Cretaceous period. There are herbivores grazing on the plants, and the drinking the water. Suddenly loud footsteps can be heard. The Tyrannosaurus rex, the king of the dinosaurs, is coming over the hill, and the sounds of his footsteps make all the other dinosaurs scatter. Despite not being the biggest dinosaur, the Tyrannosaurus rex is undisputedly the fiercest, and through the discovery of many fossils, Hollywood and scientists have made this carnivore the most famous of all the dinosaurs. Even the name Tyrannosaurus rex shows this dinosaur’s dominance; Tyrannosaurus is Greek for “tyrant lizard,” and rex is Latin for “king.” So the Tyrannosaurus rex is literally the “King of the Tyrant Lizards” (Smithsonian).
