Many rules are taken into account during flag football games, however, there are certain rules that serve more significance than others, or are regarded more than others. Usually, depending on the variation of the game, there are five to 10 players to a side. The game lasts around forty minutes to one hour, depending on the length of the four quarters the game consists of (quarters can be different intervals such as ten minutes to fifteen minutes). If there is a tie game, it goes into overtime, and the first team to score a touch down wins. In terms of legally stopping the opposing player by pulling off the flag attached to their belt, there are certain rules. Holding up the player or diving for the flag (leaving their feet) is not permitted. As soon as the flag hits the ground, or the defender shows the flag to a referee, the play ends.
