Little Italy is unique because it is no longer the ethnic enclave it was 115 years ago. When comparing Little Italy to other ethnic neighborhoods, we can immediately see differences. In Chinatown, for example, there are many Chinese restaurants, businesses, and structures scattered throughout the neighborhood. In addition, many Chinese people can be found visiting, working, and even living in the enclave. When you see these Chinese individuals, they are often speaking the Chinese language. Little Italy, however, is quite different from Chinatown. Unlike Chinatown, Little Italy has lost its ethnic flavor. While Little Italy was once a neighborhood thriving with a heavy Italian immigration base, overtime it has lost its identity.

Benito Mussolini was born July 29, 1883 in Dovia di Predappio, Forlì, Italy. His father, Alessandro, was a blacksmith and a part-time socialist journalist. Instead of being with his family, he spent most of his time on politics and much of his money on his mistress. Mussolini’s mother, Rosa Maltoni, on the other hand was a Catholic school teacher and was the one that provided the family with some stability and income. Benito Mussolini and his family lived in two crowded rooms on the second floor of a small palazzo. Mussolini and he was the oldest of three children and came from an extremely poor family.
The two periods I choose to review a musical piece for is the Baroque Era and the Classical Period. I chose a piece from the Baroque Era by Bach called the “Toccata and fugue in D minor, BWV 565 I-Toccata”. Then from the Classical Period I chose a piece by Haydn, “Piano sonata no.4 in G major HOB XVI G1-Allegro”.
