Known For: Swamp Head was the first brewery to take up residence in North Central Florida. Since then they have been joined by the Copp Brewery in Crystal River, Infinite Ale Works in Ocala, and the First Magnitude Brewing Co. in Gainesville. Swamp Head’s Big Nose IPA is their most popular beer in both the tasting room and through their distribution network. They pride themselves on being ‘Inherently Floridian’. Not only do they source as many ingredients locally as possible such as honey, oranges, blackberries, lemongrass, blueberries, key limes and sweet potatoes, but they also are highly conservation minded. The spent grains from the brewing process are given to local farmers to feed livestock. A portion of the sale of the Eternal Blonde Ale goes to The Howard T. Odum Florida Springs Institute, which helps to protect the natural springs of Florida. Together with Solar Impact, a solar-energy equipment supplier, Swamp Head sponsors and hosts an annual Tree Fest. For each beer sold five Longleaf Pine seedlings will be planted by the Alachua County Trust in the Little Orange Creek

Louisiana should be concerned about the wetlands because of the wildlife and fisheries. Without it, Louisiana would not be able to supply seafood and wildlife. Another concern, is the land going under and people could lose their homes. According to Allured and Martin, “the destruction of the wetlands came from the coastal and offshore oil and gas development” (p.332). Also, there is some thought that humans play a role in the destruction. According to Allured and Martin, “swamps symbolize as dark and chaotic places of the earth” and “marsh as a type of wet area that harbored disease” (p. 333). The importance of ascertaining the cause of the vanishing wetlands is to help restore the wetlands and protect from a hurricane

It was the first national preserve in the National Park System. Big Cypress history is as varied and colorful as the individuals who carved out a life for themselves in the swamp. For tens of thousands of years, humans have changed, and have been changed by, this place we call the Big Cypress Swamp. First the Calusa, followed by European explorers of the 1500s, then the Miccosukee, Seminole and other settlers to the area. The rugged terrain challenged many early travelers as they established the watery wilderness of the swamp as their home.

As previously stated, one of the greatest strengths of the Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company is the reach of its success. The company already maintains a presence in several of the southeastern states and continues to expand its distribution sites. Lazy Magnolia has also found a way to get around the Mississippi state law that prohibits shipping alcohol to the public. They have done so by collaborating with Half Time Beverage, an online retailer of craft beer (“Lazy Magnolia”, 2015). The creation of this relationship has allowed Lazy Magnolia to offer its products to consumers in additional states in spite of constraints brought about by local laws.
