This quote is not very important to me since I have always been a quitter. I am just doing this essay since you assigned it. I quit anything that is hard since I lack any motivation to do anything I do not want to do. Like write essays, do packets along with a lot of essays or do any other homework. I never want to do anything on account of I have better things to do in life than a bunch of pointless homework that will never apply to the real world or the job I have planned. I know people who think that school is everything and that they need to over achieve in everything, but in reality, you can get some very good jobs without even finishing high school. For example, one of my friends did not finish high school, has a full time job that pays
Many jobs that one would get right out of high school are usually labor intensive or just not ideal conditions. These jobs include being the grunt worker for a construction company, working on a farm, or being a janitor. These job might not be terrible, but someone who does these would eventually become tired of their working environment. Having a college degree will typically end in having a more enjoyable job. Jobs like teaching, nursing, engineering, and accounting are all professions that require some sort of college degree and are considered nicer jobs with a better work environment. College will help students get a better job, but it will also make that student more prepared for adult
Mr. Feldman presents a very good point in “WHY GO TO COLLEGE?,” by stating that students that settle for a high school diploma or less, will not go as far, or reach their full potential. Students tend to get excited when they enter high school, thinking “yes! Only four more years to go! No more test! No more evil teachers! NO MORE SCHOOL!” But can you imagine just hopping from one dead end job to another? How does having two jobs sound like to you? Well from my experience I can honestly say I disliked it. I did not make more money by having the second job, if anything I missed out on family events, and the people that really mattered. Sure most jobs only require a high school diploma but what kind of job is it? Are you happy? Can you retire?
Others don’t believe in this. Some people don’t go to college due to how expensive it is. According to the article “Even for Cashiers College Pays Off” by David Leonhardt he states,”It saddles students with the debt; it does not guarantee a good job; it isn’t necessary for many jobs.” College can put a heavy burden on people that is not necessary. Furthermore, this is debt that they can’t fail to pay. Others don’t go simply based on the fact that they don’t like school. They feel they learn better outside of the classroom and are able to learn skills in the real-world. Lastly another reason they don’t go is because of the lack of support from their parents or family. Many families don’t give the support someone may need when starting college. Even though it is ultimately the person’s choice whether to go to college, it is good to have a support
“In the United States today, there is no more certain investment than a college education”(Carnevale and Melton). Education has always been a major component of American society. One can only go so far without an education, and the more education and knowledge someone has, the better their chances of being successful. Some people believe a high school education is enough, and it is, enough to land a job at a fast food restaurant. I speculate they feel this way because they feel school is not for them, or maybe they just do not want to go far in life. To get far in life people must go above and beyond, and learn things that others do not know to make them
Clearly, if you want to earn a decent wage that will enable you to support yourself you need to do more than just finish high school.
Whether you attend college or go immediately into the workforce, many recognize the amazing opportunities college has to offer its students. In high school, high school opens doors for college. In college, college unlocks opportunities for your future. Statics show that past graduates who obtain a college diploma can get a job, maintain their jobs, and they get paid more than someone who did not attend or finish school. Also, well paying jobs tend to take care of their employees. For example, higher paying jobs give their employees more benefits and vacation time: to stay healthy and well-rested. So they perform better on the job. Low paying jobs do not have to have many benefits because, they can replace employees at their leisure. Those who do not fulfill their education requirements, always have to settle for second place to someone who did spend the time to be experienced and qualified with a degree.
Great emphasis is placed on obtaining a a degree from a higher university. When you go to apply for jobs nowadays, you need an associates or a bachelors just to get your foot in the door unlike how the job world once was years ago. As a student currently enrolled at a traditional 4 year university, I knew that this was where I needed to be in High school in order have the fighting opportunity in my dream career. A lot of students are told that in order to receive a fat check in their career, you need a college degree, so then they push students in high school to take the SAT and ACT, and to focus maintaining a high GPA so that the door to a seat at a top university can be filled by them. With that being said, I’ve come to the realization that not everyone is set-up to have the opportunity to achieve these goals.
There are a number of individuals who have been able to acquire employment, or perhaps even a professional entry-level position in a particular career, with just a high school diploma. Those who have been able to essentially work their way up in a particular field, may not necessarily need or want a degree. There are entrepreneurs as
College is the best way for success and today’s day and age. A high school doesn’t just cut it anymore. Jobs are looking for a high school diploma and some form of college educations, but that is are to find when college costs too much for students to handle. There are students that do manage to succeed through the costs and the hair pulling out of schooling, but for the select few that don’t is solidly basing this argument. College should provide a place in the work force for everyone and anyone willing to pay the money to attend. Most
In a society where money is a survival need, who would not want to earn more and have nice things. Instead of living paycheck to paycheck or on financial assistance. This is why most teens focus on their schooling early on so they can be admitted into the college they want. There are different career paths to choose from once high school is over. In high school, teachers and counselors are trying to prepare and make their students well aware of their options. Four year universities might not be for everyone, personal goals and interests influence the path students take. Education is seen as an investment, in hopes that one day the degree will pay off once the person gets their dream job. But the fact is that tuition and fees make it something
My generation was told we could do anything we put our minds to. And if we wanted good high paying jobs we would have to get a good education. But over the years I’ve noticed that maybe that’s not completely true. Many jobs now of days do not require a college education just a high school diploma.
Most times, students end up living a life they didn’t want after high school. With no degree, students may find themselves working at a labor or hardworking job making little money. College students are usually better off in their life with an efficient job and a healthy family.
do believe this school year has been successful. This year has been pretty successful with my grades. I feel like that I have worked hard to get good grades, but there has been rough times during the year. I have had success in the weight room. I had success on and off the fields. I had a really successful school year.
College isn’t for everyone. College education doesn’t mean that one can a better job than those that did not attend college, not all good paying jobs include going to college. Sure college is good for you but at the same time it can be a problem. High school graduate could go to community college, work construction, work at a minimum wage job, or they could join the military. College in not valuable because of the student loan debt, the amount of stress while going to college can lead to dropping, and just because you have a degree does not guarantee a long lasting career.
Everyone has gotten a speeding ticket, parking ticket, etc. but, people are still successful. Lots of people who went to highschool went to college and were successful. 4 years of college then maybe more years to earn another degree but, what about the people who didn't go to college. Many people didn't go to college and are still very successful. For instance, business owners, you don't have to go to college to own your own business. In order to own your business you need a little money to start off with and get people to believe in you, have a degree help you but, many people are successful by breaking a rule or two and not going to college. Successful people aren't rule followers; they are people who work
