Knowledge is something that helps us with our everyday lives. We as human beings, need to learn and gain knowledge because it can help us with every situation that occurs. Knowledge is always good. There are also some down sides to learning as well. For one thing, knowledge can make people feel good about yourself, it can teach people to prevent negative events, and it can affect your future.
Knowing and learning things can not only cause people to be more visual and mechanical, but it can cause emotional effects as well. Learning can cause people to feel very good about themselves. Ever feel that positive sense of acing a test or exam? That is the exact same feeling that people have when they know they have learned something new. In Flowers for Algernon, Charlie says, “That makes me feel better. I coud probly do that amazed faster than a reglar mouse.” Charlie is mentally unstable to learn properly, so when he finds out that he does have a chance of learning, he is very excited. …show more content…

For this example to explain my reasoning, Your friends decide to go to a fancy restaurant. When your finished with your meal, your check comes and everyone has to decide what to tip the waiter. The thing to use is a mathematical formula (using percentage) to help find the total amount to tip. Life situations are everywhere. We learned how to solve problems like this in school, so it is necessary to know this to solve a solution. In Flowers for Algernon, Charlie wrote, “I feel a lot better today, but I guess I’m still a little angry that all the time people were laughing and making fun of me because I wasn’t so smart.” In this situation, Charlie has now realized that he was actually being made fun of instead of making friends. After gaining knowledge, he has learned a sense of the way people talk because of him
