Attending Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine’s would allow me to contribute to the mission of developing solutions to help residents of Washington. Whether it was developing innovative teaching methods in coaching or finding solutions to challenges faced in research, part of my personality is finding unique and innovative solutions to challenges I face. Through the school I would be able to work with rural medical offices and hospitals, in collaboration with the technology incubator, to develop technology that would make providing healthcare easier and more affordable.
Through my time in youth groups, boy scouts, and as an athlete I was able to explore much of Washington. Through these experiences I came to understand some of the difficulties

I love Washington and no place I have lived has come close to matching it. I attribute a large part of my success to the community and culture of Washington, which supported me and taught me a great deal about diversity and equality. Friends and family residing in rural and underserved parts of Washington have shared with me the problems they have experienced with accessing healthcare. My hope is to return and practice medicine in these areas to help bring quality healthcare to those that otherwise would not have access to it. I will do this through working with hospitals and clinics to improve access to healthcare, possibly through mobile clinics. This is one of many ideas I have for improving healthcare in Washington. My mother is an alum of Washington State University and obtaining a degree from the same school as her would be special to me. I have always been a cougar fan and will always will be. When WSU first announced their accreditation for a school of medicine I was extremely excited to apply. By attending Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, I would be able to return to the state where I grew up, give back to the community, and fulfill my dream of becoming a
I believe Creighton University School of Medicine will meet both my professional goals and personal needs. Professionally, the emphasis on advancing knowledge and the overall wellbeing of patients will enable me to become a compassionate knowledgeable physician. The collaborative work between Dr. Huele and Dr. Gallagher, which incorporates organometallic chemistry and medicine, is particularly fascinating. My undergraduate research in organometallic chemistry and Lupus lacked this direct connection between these two disciplines. As I am looking into medical schools, the possibility of connecting my organometallic research experience with medicine is intriguing. I am also interested in attending Creighton University because of the commitment to serving others. As a five year volunteer at the C.A.R.E. Clinic for the uninsured, I have seen the difference free compassionate medical care can make for this underserved population. I am passionate about the importance of quality medical care for all human life. Finally, a faith based medical university allows me to nourish my faith while learning about medicine. A summer internship at a medical examiner’s office taught me about the complexities of
I remain highly motivated that one day I will be able to help save another person’s life or to ameliorate their suffering in one way at the least. Enriching and bettering the world with quality health care has become one of my ultimate goals. I aspire to induce positive changes to the way healthcare is administered and it is my mission to serve the minorities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. It is my desire to help people recover that drives myself to become a public health professional with a specialty in health policy and management, particularly minorities in low socioeconomic areas with inadequate health care. I for one remain adamant that these qualities will be of ample help throughout my formation as a public health professional. Furthermost, what drives me is my love for people and my desire to effect positive changes to the way healthcare is
7. What special life experiences and/or characteristics would you bring to KU School of Medicine?
I know that this college would be a great opportunity to show others that you can come from nothing and actually become something. I live in a family where my mother dropped out of school in the 8th grade and my father didn’t go to college. I will be the first in the family to go to college. I feel as though this college would be the best college to start out with.
My circumstances had changed from an inability to reliably obtain good healthcare, to good healthcare I could not access. In the last three years, my family's economic situation has improved, but I have only recently been able to obtain health insurance and begin regular physician visits. This entire process has sensitized me to the ease at which simple health issues can be compounded due to a lack of options and how much work remains to be done to ensure that the quality healthcare we strive to create is accessible to those who need it. This personal understanding of healthcare challenges and the sum of my experiences across distinct locations defines my interactions with others. At Columbia, I would be able to build on my experiences, receive an unrivaled and balanced medical education, explore my passions via the comprehensive P&S club, and grow into the physician I want to
I have had the opportunity while volunteering at M.E.N.D to be exposed to the various low-income patients with no health insurance and do not have the privilege of Medicare or Medical benefits. It came to my attention the lack of leaders within health care in underserved communities. There is a need of removal of barriers created by language and lack of knowledge of cultures and heritages that address the specific needs of the underserved. Since then, it has become my ultimate goal to become a leader in health care in underserved communities I plan to become an Orthopedic Surgeon and provide services to those who are unfortunate and cannot afford procedures. I plan to first earn a B.A. degree in Psychology at California State University of
Ultimately, Tulane University is my dream school because of the amount of knowledge I know it could offer me. Even just sharing knowledge with current Tulane students would be something like a dream. Attending Tulane would be a large step in the right direction towards my desired career, and towards my
This great disparity in wealth and opportunity has prompted me to join the American Red Cross to help with disaster relief and mental health, as well as volunteering at the women’s and children’s shelter. The opportunity to assist ailing communities makes Marshall University special in comparison to some of the other schools. Not only this, but Marshall provides a great opportunity to pursue some research endeavors. If you are wondering why I am applying, the answer is simple. The opportunity to study medicine at Marshall is too ideal to pass up. Marshall is a school that I believe can enhance my love for medicine, and teach me to be a veritable and meticulous physician. Being a Montana resident has put me at a disadvantage while applying to medical school. Montana does not have its own medical school, and so I must seek an out-of-state school. This puts me at a disadvantage since most schools prioritize in-state students before the out-of-state ones. I chose to apply to Marshall because it is a school that I would love to attend and be a part of their excellent medical
As a resident of Maryland for the past six years I have grown to love the culture and diversity of the greater Washington area. This community has been supportive of my education and has been a great place to live. I have had the opportunity to volunteer in multiple capacities and would love to continue to do that through my medical education and beyond. The unique methods that George Washington uses in its education of physicians also attracts me to the institution. The learning communities is something that is unique in medical education where small groups of students come together to work through curriculum and perform other activities in the community. The number of track programs available is also a key reason I want to attend your school.
Getting into Adelphi University Graduate program will give me the opportunity to engage in promoting an optimal standard of care for patients and the community. Being Alumni at Adelphi University I know how helpful, caring and passionate all the professors and faculty staff are. I
While applying to medical school, it is vital to select schools that will provide a conducive environment for not only academic and professional success, but also personal growth and happiness. I chose to apply to the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix (UACOMP) because the school’s values align closely with my own, and the school’s culture will provide a helpful climate for fostering my personal and professional development.
I am interested in attending UNCW first and foremost because they offer the Sports Medicine Program that I am interested in. I was born in WIlmington and I like the idea of going to college in my hometown to be near the beach and my family. My mom attended UNCW and is very proud of the education that she received. I have a cousin that recently graduated from UNCW, so it would be great to keep the legacy going. Growing up in Wilmington allowed me the opportunity to participate in the Little Seahawks Program as a kid, attend numerous basketball games and to participate in camps that were offered on campus. My family loved volunteering for the Leon Brogden Tournament, when it was held at UNCW. I even got to play in that tournament one year
In addition to my global initiative it is important to mention my love for Oregon and all it has offered me. I left my hometown of Klamath Falls, OR for the city as soon as I turned 18, only to find that my true home will always be amongst the rivers and trees. I take pleasure in the organic connections that are made when one is disconnected from the rest of the world. Understanding that I am my best self in a rustic environment, I have built this detail into the foundation of my image as a medical professional. I look forward to the unique experience rural medicine offers in which providers have the opportunity to get to know their patients beyond the information in their medical chart.
In the next ten years I see many changes taking place in health care. The biggest changes I foresee are the availability and amount of health care providers, in rural and other areas that lack the adequate health care, will continue to drop and the price of health care will continue to rise. This may be a dreary outlook but that is where I know I, and other future PAs, can help! It is hard to draw many providers, specifically doctors, to small-town USA. There are not as many activities and not as diverse patient population as some urban areas can offer. Neither of those issues make a difference to me, or many other PAs, who often come from those small towns and are drawn back to them to provide the care they desperately need. The second huge
While I was shadowing a few neurologists in Ravenna, OH, I mentioned all of the medical schools that I was considering applying to, and they told me that I should put the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine at the top of my list. After researching the program further, I was pleased to see the impact that the UC Medical Center was having on the community and the cutting edge research and education that UC medical students are able to take a part of. As an Ohio native, I would be honored to invest into my home state as much as possible.
